What does Acrobat 9 pro have over Acrobat 7 pro?

Does anyone know where I can find what features are available in Acrobat 9 pro that aren't in Acrobat 7 pro? Or know off hand what the differences are. I can't find a comparison anywhere.

What does the Mac Pro do? and who uses it?

Hey guys, I want to know What does the Mac Pro does and which type of people use it.

To add a slightly less technical perspective, I bought a new Mac Pro because it fits my preferred working style rather than because I need its specific computing power (And also because my 2008 MP crapped out and I got tired of fixing it).
When my old Mac Pro died, I ran out and bought a Macbook Pro Retina and used it as my desktop while waiting for the new cylinder MP. The MBPr was stunning and performed like a champ. However, I was reluctant to use it as a laptop (i.e., travel with it) since it was my sole platform for client work and I didn't want to jeopardize my ability to work/deliver should something nasty happen on the road.
So maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, but I like to have a desktop mac for my primary workstation (I'm a graphic designer and photographer) and a laptop for the road. I use a high-end, wide spectrum monitor for color critical work, so while it's true that an iMac would have the power to run the stuff I need, I prefer to have options with my monitor.
Again, just another perspective that might factor into a purchase decision. How do you like to work and what works best for your situation? It isn't always mandatory to have the fastest and latest (unless, as in my case, it falls into your established criteria/working style).

What does "You do not have sufficient access privileges" mean?

Hello Gurus!
I am wondering what does "You do not have sufficient access privileges" mean? I have a G$ with 2 internal hard drives. One has OSX 10.3.9 loaded on it and the other has OSX 10.4.7 loaded on it. When I boot up in 10.4.7 and try to access (open or copy) anything in the the desktop, documents, library, movies, music or pictures folders in my user folder on the 10.3.9 disk, it tells me that "I do not have sufficient access privileges"! This is a single user machine and it automatically logs in as me... the administrator. I tried to look at Apple's technical documents regarding permissions and privileges, but it is very confusing with all of it's terminal commands and lingo. Does anyone know an easy (and hopefully GUI) way around this problem?

If you have a different system on each HD then you do not have a single user machine. The user on one system/boot volume is not the same user as the one on the other, even if they ahve the same name and password. If you boot from the 10.3 volume, you can select your user folder, go to File-Get Info, and change the access for others to read and write and click on the apply to enclosed items button. You should then be able to boot from the other system and move stuff around as you see fit. Of course, this is not a terribly secure state to leave your system in, as anyone who can gain access to your Mac can get at everything on your 10.3 home folder.
If you try this route, I'd suggest doing it only long enough to move everything to one home folder and then revert the access privs to the way they were.

At face value it would suggest the content of your library is too obscure, however it might mean your library is too small for the feature to be active, or that it hasn't catalogued your content yet.

restore your phone as new through itunes. if the issue persists after a factory restore via itunes, it means you've got a hardware issue and the phone needs to be repaired

DDE stands for Dynamic Data Exchange, and it is a way for two programs to communicate with each other. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms648711(v=vs.85).aspx
Adobe Reader, or (Acrobat Standard/Pro) would be an example of a DDE server, in that when they are open they can accept unsolicited communication from client programs.
One client could be the fast launch utility.
Because the DDE server is local to your machine, only a server name needs to be decided upon. For instance prior to version 10 Adobe always used 'Acroview' as it's DDE Server Name. For some reason, Adobe claims 'security', They decided to change the DDE Server name for version 10 to AcroviewR10 for reader, and AcroviewA10 for Acrobat.
Because there was decades of old code which had never needed to change many programs stopped working, and began claiming that they couldn't connect to Acrobat.
Adobe, rightly, claimed that it was a bad practice to hard code the DDE Server name into your code, and that a better practice is to get the value from the Registry.
That would have been helpful but Adobe seems incapable of remembering to update this registry key when upgrading their software, even though they update the setting in their software.
For instance right now Adobe is setting the DDE Server name in the registry to AcroviewR10 for Reader 11. What is worse is that their software only responds to AcroviewR11.
So if you hardcode the server name, or create a function to determine what it should be, than you might be ok, but if you accept their good coding practices your applications will fail to work as expected, and your clients will think it is your fault.

If you're talking about a red circle with a slash through it, that means that Lightroom cannot Import the that location. If you're talking about something different, please explain.

I can not reinstall either acrobat 8 pro or acrobat 9 pro because the insallation stalls when it point s to some indicator within office 2007
I have completely uninstalled all the adobe programs from my system and cleaned all the references within the registry and anywhere else but it consistently says
setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. setup will now terminate.
press ok
and finish ...... no alternative!!!!
I have done a search on several forums and it seems to be a reaccuring problem both with people who have a legitimate copy and those that have copies from elsewhere ...... I have a legitimate copy with serial number ...but you never get that far ...
Is there any answer to this either from a ADOBE employee or a ADOBE expert ...often the expert knows more ...but we will see.
I even contimplated offering a reward for a solution I mean otherwise I have wasted my money anyway.
Hopefully there are some clever helpful souls who can provide a fix.

I suggest that you completely un-install the Acrobat completely (if u need to surrender the key for the time being then do it) then try to install may be some already installed file of acrobat or the file which are asociated b/w office 2007 and acrobat might be corrupt. or try reparing the office installation once again

It's hardware coverage of factory defects to three years from the date of purchase of the machine + phone support.
You can buy it within the one year standard warranty, but it's still only three years max.
Doesn't cover software issues, data recovery, user damage, accidents or thefts. OS X may be reinstalled in the repair process but really doesn't count as fixing software issues.
It's sort of mandatory, as eventually one will upgrade OS X and a firmware update can brick a logicboard by exposing unknown flaws or drivers for video cards causing issues.
Never upgrade OS X without AppleCare in place as Apple has multiple points of potential failure on the logicboard, the parts are not more seperated like on PC's and thus cheaper to fix.
A new logicboard out of applecare is prohibitive, you'll be better off buying a new machine.

What does my Mac Pro's lack of startup Boing mean?

My Mac Pro is equipped with two internal drives, a 600 GB WD VelociRaptor - - which functions as my usual startup drive - - and the WD 640 GB drive that came with the computer. A few weeks ago my computer ceased to make the Boing soud when starting up from the VelociRaptor or when switching from the VelociRaptor to the 640 GB drive. Below are the conditions undewr which the Boing sound occurs and does not occur.
Computer does not make Boing sound when:
1. Starting from the VelociRaptor drive after having been turned off.
2. Restarting from the VelociRaptor when the VelociRaptor was the startup drive.
3. If one restarts after designating the WD 640 GB drive as the startup drive after having first started from the VelociRaptor.
4. When resetting the PRAM it does not sound on the first cycle.
The Computer makes the Boing sound when:
1. Starting from the WD 640 GB drive after having been turned off.
2. Restarting when one has started from the WD 640 GB drives.
3. If one restarts after designating the VelociRaptor as the startup drive after having first started from the 640 GB drive.
4. When resetting the PRAM, it sounds on the second and all subsequent cycles.
Smart Utility reports that both drives are fine.
Permissions are regularly verified and repaired on both drives.
Disk Utility reports no problems with either disk.
The directories on both drives are regularly optimized with DiskWarrior.
The computer passed the long version of the Apple Hardware Test.
The computer performs with no obvious anomalies beyond its lack of Boing.
Although I'm now running under OS 10.7.4, theis problem began when I was still running OS 10.6.8. It began about 6 weeks ago.
I would be most appreciative of any insights that anyone might have.

The chime is generated in software after millions of instructions have been executed and the Power On Self Test has passed. If a source of bootable software can be found, booting is likely.
The last result of the Power-on Self Test is recorded, (as is the last Apple Hardware Test) and can be read out easily until the next Restart:
About this Mac > ( More Info ) > Hardware > Diagnostics
If the last Power On Self Test status is "Passed" and the correct date, do not lose sleep over the lack of chime.

Advice please - what does Quick Time Pro do?

I'm thinking of buying Quick Time Pro for Windows.
I have video files in the following formats: .mov (from my iphone4), .AVI, .mp4 (AVI files converted via Handbrake for itunes), plus some older low quality files in .3GP and .MPG.
I want to the do the following:
1. Convert all the files to itunes so that I can view on my ipod and Apple TV.
2. I want to merge some of the files to make longer video clips
3. I want to add title menus for the clips and chapters within them.
Can I do these things with QuickTime Pro or not?

1. Add the file to your iTunes Library and use its Advanced menu to make iPod and Apple TV versions. No need for the "Pro" upgrade of QuickTime Player in most cases.
Muxed file formats (MPEG 1 and 2) will play in QuickTime Player (extra $20 software required for MPEG-2) but audio can't be extracted or exported. Use MPEG Streamclip instead.
2. Joining files is copy/paste simple with the Pro upgrade. Save As will place all of the tracks into a .mov container but no export of the file is required. This makes it very fast and doesn't require re-compression of already compressed tracks.
You can adjust the dimensions after adding mismatched tracks in the Movie Properties window.
3. I don't know what you mean by "title menus". You can import image file formats and add them to any supported format.
QuickTime Player Pro can import "text" which can be added to a file as both text over video and chapter tracks.
QuickTime Player Pro is also an authoring application. Two of my pages as examples:

What does this Macbook Pro Model # Mean?...MB133LZ/A

I just purchased a Macbook Pro off of eBay and have now just noticed that they had the MPN for this laptop listed as MB133LZ/A. After doing some research, is this a computer from outside of the U.S.? If so, will this be a problem for me since I live in the United States? Can anyone explain to me what the model # means and if this laptop will be any different than the ones sold in the U.S. Thanks a lot!

One of my fellow level 4s appears to believe that LZ indicates it is from a Latin American country. That might indicate a slightly different keyboard, but you can always attach a U.S. keyboard if you find that it is, and Apple menu -> System preferences -> International lets you select the keyboard settings you desire.

Why does itunes say i have over 700 photos on my phone but i really only have about 200?

I have a 4S running 8.1.1 and on itunes when i connect my phone it says i have 700+ pictures when in reality by camera roll has less than 200. I am connected to ICloud but I turned off all settings in the "Photos" section of the Icloud settings. I did sync all my photos that are on my phone on to IPhoto on my computer. Does ITunes count the pictures on IPhoto on my computer and my Camera roll to make over 700+ photos? That is the best guess i have and i think is unlikely. Help!
