The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

What Does All This Resolution Mean/All-In-Ones?
I use a Dual 1 GHz PowerPC G4, 1.5 GB SDRAM. All-in-ones are priced reasonably this holiday season. My old printer is ancient. I am confused by all the technical specs, etc.
1. One all-in-one has a maximum print resolution of 5760 X 1440 dpi. What does that mean?
It has the following for the scanner: Optical Resolution: 4800 dpi; maximum resolution: 9600 X 9600 dpi interpolated. What does that mean?
It also has a scanner Bit Dept 48-bit color, 24-bit output. What does that mean?
2. Second all-in-one has a maximum print resolution of 5760 X1440 pixels. What does that mean?
It has a scanner resolution of 1200 X 2400 pixels with 48-bit color. What does that mean?
3. Third all-in-one has a maximum print resolution of 5760 X 1440 optimized dpi. Meaning?
Scanner has optical resolution of 2400 dpi and hardware resolution 2400 X 2400 dpi (max). Meaning?
Scanner has maximum resolution of 9600 X 9600 dpi interpolated. Meaning?
Scanner bit depth: 48-bit color/ 24-bit output. Meaning?
Happy Holidays!1. Don't believe it, it's hype. Interploated means we can make it seem like more than it is, mostly. 4800 is the real one.
2. Those are how many dots per inch it can do Horizontally & Vertically.
3. Not certain, but likely it's Max resolution.
2400 dots per inch is what it really does, but using motly magical "something for nothing" we can make every dot.pixel be 4 dots/pixels
24 bit output is it's max color scan, which is 8bits each for Red, Blue, & green, though it looks for 16 bits of each to decide how to cut it down.
Always look at the lowest numbers... & make sure it has 10.5.8 drivers. -

Win 7I am not sure if there is something to tune or not but according to the following release notes, that bug is fixed in v.5.20. You may need to get with Cisco to see if there is a workaround.

iTunes. After backing iPod to computer and installing new software, what does "restore iPod" mean? Does it mean to restore all games and data to the new software or does it mean to "undo" the software update?
You can restore your iPod to "New" which will erase every thing and install fresh iOS software or you can restore to a particular backup that you have previously created. In this case, your iPod Apps & data will appear as per the backup. Note that some content is not in a backup and will need to be synced back to the iPad from the iTunes music library or from, for example, the iPhoto photo library.

What does the ~ symbol mean next to an event? I have never seen this before but today when I edited a few events this appeared next to the event.

Hm. I've never seen that in iCal. In some other Applications the tilde "~" indicates a restore point or a before / after for a file. My guess is there is a broken cache file in iCal.
Try:
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region. Region should be set to the country of your choice. Do not have it set to "Custom" as this can have unexpected results in the iCal window.
If that doesn't resolve the issue:
1. First make an iCal backup: Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
--- NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard. You will see "Library" in the menu.
4. Launch iCal and test.
If the issue persists:
1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
3. Launch iCal and test.

What does the "S" mean in reference to lenses? EF-S vs EF lens?
I have both a digital camera, the 60D, and recently acquired an EOS 1N 35mm film camera. I have bought lenses for my 60D but not the 1N film camera....was told that my 18-55mm lens for my 60D would not be interchangeable with the 1N? So, EF-S vs EF lens, what is the S and what does it indicate? What does the "S" mean in reference to lenses? EF-S vs EF lens?

JamesIn the simlpest of terms think of the S as standing for SMALL sensor. The sensor in crop bodies is much smaller in physical size than the area your film camera needs covering with when the shutter opens. An EF S lens won't allow light to cover the full area in the film or FF body. This allows smaller & cheaper lenses but at the expense of limiting their use.

What does "Owners Enabled" mean in Disk Utility
Hi -
Not an emergency - I'm not having any issues at this time - but a matter of curiosity.
I have 5 Firewire drives hooked into my G5 and only the main HD and the Time Machine drive say "Yes" next to "Owners Enabled" in Disk Util. The other externals indicate "No". What does Owners Enabled mean. should I endeavor to make them all to say Yes?

It's a process table error, usually indicating a buggy third-party app. See the explanation here.
A tricky point about searching for Mac errors in Google: always remove the minus sign. If you search for (say) os X error -10810, Google will interpret the minus sign as a request to exclude all pages that contain the string 10810, which is exactly what you don't want. -

also what does "renew lease" means.VPN is "Virtual Private Network" which are settings set by your IT professionals that will tell your iPad how to log into your network and become "Part" of your business network. This way if you are at home and for security reasons there are things you need to do and need to be at a computer in the office, you could be at home and your iPad would be part of the office network as if you logged in at your office.
When you renew your lease, you are basically telling your iPad to search for a new IP address on the network. Throughout times your ISP may change you IP address when the lease runs up on an IP address. When this is done, most times your router and modem will automatically update "renew" this address, and ocassionally need you to manually do this. Renewing this lease, does just that, it updates the address information so you can start to properly get information as needed from the network. -

For my ipad, I have a few movies I want on it. Most of my movies have a cloud in the corner and I do not want them on my ipad. What does the cloud mean?
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Store>Show All>Videos>Off. The movies with the cloud icon are movies in the cloud and they should disappear when you do what I posted.
