What does an orange triangle on the file

I am using InDesign CC-2014 on Mac
I have copied a full project to the CC Desktop folders. It includes a variety of files, including an InDD book with 14 documents.
The InDesign files (.indd) themselves have all been marked with green ticks.
The folder with assets has a mix of .psd and .tif files—about 300 images in total.
Some of these (both file types) have orange triangles on the file icon.
And, the synch has now been running for about 5 days and does not appear to be moving past this point—just stalled and little wheel in the CC Synch panel is spinning--spinning
What does the orange icon mean?
Where Can I get further information for troubleshooting?
Any suggestions for how to fix this?

@Spartan707 - Please use the Log Collector tool from here Log Collector Tool to get the Core Sync logs. Email them to me at [email protected] and I will make sure the Core Sync team gets the files to investigate further. From the screen shot I do not see any obvious reason for the files failing to sync. There is this help article on why files may not sync Error: "Unable to sync files".
Bob and Peter thank you for your help.

    What does this message mean? : "The file name "DSC_0088.jpg" is offline or missing."   I am in the process of importing photos from iPhoto (don't really know what I'm doing....) and when I look at one of the imported photos that message pops up.  I know what "DSC_0088.jpg" is.  I don't know what it means that the file is "missing".

    CASpyr,
    Thank you so much for your reply.  I have a couple of bigger issues that I am dealing with: too many photos on my laptop: 40,000! (Of course I have to throw away many of them, but that is time consuming). I have a MacBook Pro and have primarily used IPhoto. I have recently purchased 2 external drives and have transferred my photos to those, but I need a basic education about how photos are stored, copied, etc.  I have recently been told that iPhoto only shows and deals with jpegs, not RAW.  About 1/3 of my photos are RAW, so I purchased Lightroom, so I could do more with those RAW photos.  I have been told by my local Mac store that I need to delete most of my photos from iPhoto, because it's causing problems.  I am reluctant to do so until I am sure that all of the keywords, descriptions and editing I have done to these photos is not lost when deleted from iPhoto. I just watched a tutorial about importing to Lightroom and got out of it that I needed to copy photos from iPhoto to a file on my desktop and then copy to Lightroom.  I did that, it seemed to work.  Then (because of my storage/memory issues) I deleted the photos (just a few as an experiment) from that desktop file.  I'm guessing that is why Lightroom doesn't recognize the the photos.  It seems that (learned from another tutorial) that one uses "Add" , Lightroom is only connecting to the source of the photo, not  actually copying it to the program.  Sounds like I need to use the "Move" feature instead.  My ultimate goal is to store the photos on the 2 external drives and eliminate most of them from my lapop.  So my basic questions have to do with what data (metadata??) is copied from iPhoto to an external drive (RAW???) and what isn't copied. Basic understanding issues,obviously….  I hope this isn't too much to ask.  If you can recommend a book or resource that can explain those basic issues to me I'd appreciate it.  I just got back from a trip and I can't download my new photos until I manage the rest!
    Thanks,
    Nancy

  • What does it mean exactly when the file quarantine feature warns you about unsafe file types?

    It says here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3662 that "when you open a potentially unsafe file in Finder, Spotlight, or from the Dock, the file quarantine feature will warn you about unsafe file types. If you open a quarantined file, you will receive an alert asking, "Are you sure you want to open it?" You should click Cancel if you have any doubts about its safety."
    Am I correct in thinking that when this ^ appears on the screen, it means the file you're trying to open is unsafe but not totally harmful to the Mac? Which means you can still open it and it won't be much of a problem?

    If you know that you went to web site shown and downloaded the file shown at the date & time shown, then it's most probably exactly what you think it is.  If a panel pops up for some software that should NOT have been downloaded -- as in a file that's part of the operating system -- then all sorts of alarms should go off.  This is a classic technique for password grabbers -- you open something like Software Update and are completely expecting to have to type in the username and password of an account with Administrator priviledges, but if it is some nefarious program that you somehow downloaded and has substituted itself in the place of Software Update, then who knows where your password and username are going to get sent off to!  If you got a panel like that and it said "Software Update" is an application downloaded from the internet.  Or "Mail" is an application downloaded from the internet.  Or "TextEdit".  Big alarms!!!
    This is why when you are downloading software you should  type in urls directly, or click on them from a search page rather than some random link in an email/ad/etc.  If I type get.adobe.com/flashplayer into the url bar on the browser then I know that I really went to adobe's web site and got the real flashplayer (unless something is REALLY wrong!).  When you click on some link it might be going to anyplace at all -- including places that you don't want to go!  This panel gives you one last chance to double-check that the file you are opening is what you think it is and it came from where you think it came from.

  • Service to checkin file if it does not exist, else version the file

    Hi All,
    From java layer I use WEBDAV and use PUT command and this command creates a new file if it does not exist, and if the file exists it versions the existing file.
    I have developed a java component to unzip a folder and checkin all individual files and folders into UCM whenever a zip file is checked in.I would like similar feature in my UCM component.i.e whenever files are unzipped they should always be versioned if they exist.I use the below code,but it always creates a new file(even if file with same name exists in the same folder)
    m_binder.setEnvironment(SharedObjects.getEnvironment());
    m_binder.putLocal("dDocName","");
    m_binder.putLocal("IsAutoNumber", "true");
    m_binder.putLocal("AutoNumberPrefix", "olm_");
    m_binder.putLocal("IdcService","CHECKIN_NEW");
    m_binder.putLocal("dDocTitle",entityName);
    m_binder.putLocal("xCollectionID",parentId);
    m_binder.putLocal("dDocType", "Document");
    m_binder.putLocal("dSecurityGroup","Public");
    m_binder.putLocal("dDocAuthor","sysadmin");
    m_binder.putLocal("dCreateDate","");
    m_binder.putLocal("primaryFile", entryName);
    executeService(ws, m_binder,"sysadmin",true);
    So, I would like to know, if there is a service to achieve the same or is there a parameter I can add in m_binder.putLocal to achieve the same? OR am I suppose to query the UCM Database to check for existence of the file and if it exists I need to manually check out and check it in?
    Thanks,
    Shwetha

    Thanks Fabian and Ryan for your feedback.
    So I queried db to retrieve the ddocName and if no rows are returned my code checks in new file. But if rows are returned I checkout the file using CHECKOUT_BY_NAME and then checkin using CHECKIN_UNIVERSAL using same ddocName.
    Creating/checking in new file is successful.
    For existing files the checkout is successful.I also confirmed the file is checked out by querying documenthistory and ensuring a new row is created with dction = 'Check out'
    But post checkout when i try to re-check using CHECKIN_UNIVERSAL command, I receive the below exception

  • What does a question mark and i file mean on my macbook pro

    what does a question mark and i file mean on my macbook pro when i turn it on?

    To be more specific, the computer is not finding a valid system when it starts up. This may result from the hard drive's physical mechanism failing, or the system on the drive being corrupted in some way.
    Repairing permissions is not likely to fix this issue. Instead I would suggest booting from the system install DVD, running Disk Utility, selecting your hard drive's partition and select *Repair Disk*.
    Note: if the hard drive does not show up in Disk Utility at all, it is dead and will need to be replaced. Contact Apple (800-275-2273 in the USA) and have them set up warranty service, or carry the MacBook in to an Apple retail store to have it fixed. Be sure to [make an appointment|http://www.apple.com/retail] first you you may wait a long time to speak to a Mac Genius.
    If Repair Disk finds any problems and is able to correct them, you may be able to restart and everything be okay. If it is unable to correct the problems, you will need to erase and restore your hard drive.
    If Repair Disk does not find any problems, I would suggest an Archive and Install as described in [this article|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710].
    Best of luck.

  • What does it mean to compress a file?

    does it mean it will take up less room on my disk and is there anything bad that can happen by compressing a file?

    jaimiem wrote:
    what does it mean to compress a file?
    You're talking about lossless compression. See
    <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_compression#Lossless>
    does it mean it will take up less room on my disk
    It depends on the file.
    An MP3 or JPEG file contains data which has already been subjected to lossy compression. Consequently, compressing such a file will save very little space on the disk. This saving usually comes from compressing metadata (such as MP3 tags or EXIF tags), which don't take much space to begin with. Under certain circumstances, such a compressed file may even be bigger than the original.
    By contrast, text files can take considerable compression. An example is the MS Word .docx format. A .docx file is actually a (compressed) zip archive containing a hierarchy of mostly marked-up text files. Such an archive, when expanded, can take 10 times as much space.
    is there anything bad that can happen by compressing a file?
    "Anything" is rather a large word. The two chief issues you have to be aware of are password protection and compatibility. If the compressed file is password-protected and you lose the password, you may never again gain access to it. If a compression format becomes obsolete, you may no longer find the software able to expand the archive.

    what does 'ipod cannot be synced. duplicate file name specified' mean?

    I'm having the same issue. Old ipod 160 gig worked for years; it crashed. I bought a new "used" ipod. It starts reading all my music and syncs a few songs then crashes. I get the same screen you do about duplicate, etc. Very frustrating. I'm downloaded the new iTunes (not impressed). I've tried unchecking most of my music to see if that would help but it didn't. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Photoshop CS5(64Bit): "You don't have permission to save to this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission."  I am the administrator and give myself permission. What can I do to save the file? This is the user's PC, licensed PS CS5 software and Win 7 OS.

    Temporarily save to another folder, until you figure it out.
    Just because you are the owner and are the sole administrator, does not always guarantee that you have permission. There are several folders that you can not access no matter how hard you try. As for folders in your document folder, it is more likely a basic permission setting that took on permissions of a copied file. Some folders and files are set to a child/parent default setting, meaning the child folder/file (the one you are accessing) has the identical settings of its parent and when the parent changes, so does the child.
    You can alter the parent or the child folder/file.
    Right click on the folder/file select properties.
    Click on the security tab.
    Click on each of the group names and see what permissions are set.
    You can then edit a group if necessary.
    If it will not allow it, you may need to use the advanced button to create a new copy of the group which should happen when you alter its settings (In other words, you don't have to physically create the copy, it does it for you when you OK the changes)
    The administrator should have full access to the folder in the documents folder, if you are listed as an associate of the administrator group your name should also be listed there with full access. The System should also have full access.
    All other groups should have reading access only if they exist.

  • What does a white screen with a file folder and question mark indicate?

    what does a white screen with a file folder and question mark indicate upon start up?

    That the computer can't find a useable boot volume.
    Boot from your grey installer DVD disc 1 (hold down the C key on startup or hold down Alt/option on start and choose the installer disc).
    OK the language page (if present). From the installer screen, go to the menu bar and choose Disk Utility; depending on the OS version it may be in the Utilities menu or Tools menu.
    In DU, select your internal drive in the sidebar (the top item with the makers name and serial no.). Run Repair Disk (not Disk permissions). If problems are reported as repaired, run it again until you get a message in green "the volume seems to be OK".
    If it says it can't repair the disc, you may need heavier guns such as DiskWarrior or TechTool to attempt a rescue.
    Hope you have backups; retrieving data from adead drive can be expensive and tricky.

    I received a psd file created in CS6 for MAC, I am unable to find the layers when I open it in photoshop in Windows. What can i do to edit the files? What can be done so that I can either open and see the layers or how can the sender save it in a way that it doesn't "merge" the layers in some way to just one?

    Could try saving as tiff provided layers and transparency are chosen at the time of saving. But it's hard to give a definitive answer as it depends on the final usage. For example PSD's tend to work better in applications like In Design in comparison with tiff.

  • I am unable to open files on amything!!! a box pops up that asks me what do i want to open the file with..every time!! I want files to open when i click on them!! This happens with emails, websites, everything

    I try to open attachments in emails and they will not open! A box comes up asking 'what do I want to open the file with', and it wants me to select from a list of options like - Firefox, IE, Word, Yahoo Browser. When I make a selection (usually Firefox) a new tab opens with a blank page! This always happens on attachments, links, websites......everything!

    These files were lost two years ago.
    That's not consistent with what you wrote in your first message. I can't help you unless I know what's going on. Either you do, or do not, have backups of all the data you want to keep. If you do not, then the first thing you need to do is back up those files. It makes zero sense to do anything else. In order to back up, you'll need either of two things: another Mac, in working order, with a FireWire port and enough space on its internal drive to hold your files; or an external drive, also with enough space.
    On the other hand, if you do have backups, or if you simply don't care about any of the data, then the solution to your problem may be quite simple. All you have to do is boot from your installation disc (your profile says you're running Mac OS 10.5), erase your internal drive, reinstall the Mac OS, then restore your data from backup. You will need to be selective in restoring software, because incompatible software may be what caused the issue.
    But it's also possible that you have a hardware failure, in which case you can't get your computer working again until it's repaired.
