  • What does this message mean? : "The file name "DSC_0088.jpg" is offline or missing." ?

What does this message mean? : "The file name "DSC_0088.jpg" is offline or missing."   I am in the process of importing photos from iPhoto (don't really know what I'm doing....) and when I look at one of the imported photos that message pops up.  I know what "DSC_0088.jpg" is.  I don't know what it means that the file is "missing".

    CASpyr,
Thank you so much for your reply.  I have a couple of bigger issues that I am dealing with: too many photos on my laptop: 40,000! (Of course I have to throw away many of them, but that is time consuming). I have a MacBook Pro and have primarily used IPhoto. I have recently purchased 2 external drives and have transferred my photos to those, but I need a basic education about how photos are stored, copied, etc.  I have recently been told that iPhoto only shows and deals with jpegs, not RAW.  About 1/3 of my photos are RAW, so I purchased Lightroom, so I could do more with those RAW photos.  I have been told by my local Mac store that I need to delete most of my photos from iPhoto, because it's causing problems.  I am reluctant to do so until I am sure that all of the keywords, descriptions and editing I have done to these photos is not lost when deleted from iPhoto. I just watched a tutorial about importing to Lightroom and got out of it that I needed to copy photos from iPhoto to a file on my desktop and then copy to Lightroom.  I did that, it seemed to work.  Then (because of my storage/memory issues) I deleted the photos (just a few as an experiment) from that desktop file.  I'm guessing that is why Lightroom doesn't recognize the the photos.  It seems that (learned from another tutorial) that one uses "Add" , Lightroom is only connecting to the source of the photo, not  actually copying it to the program.  Sounds like I need to use the "Move" feature instead.  My ultimate goal is to store the photos on the 2 external drives and eliminate most of them from my lapop.  So my basic questions have to do with what data (metadata??) is copied from iPhoto to an external drive (RAW???) and what isn't copied. Basic understanding issues, obviously….  I hope this isn't too much to ask.  If you can recommend a book or resource that can explain those basic issues to me I'd appreciate it.  I just got back from a trip and I can't download my new photos until I manage the rest!
    Thanks,
    Nancy

  • What does that superposed arrow on the airport icon mean?

On one computer I cannot connect to the airport base station as I can with all other Mac's using the same procedure on the same base station network. On the Mac I cannot connect from, a G5 is using OS 10.4.10, the airport strength symbol is not highlighted and there is a vertical highlighted arrow superposed on the airport symbol. What does that superposed arrow on the airport icon mean?

SteveCC, Welcome to the discussion area!
I believe that you are seeing the icon indicating you G5 is acting as a base station. On that G5 open System Preferences->Sharing->Internet and stop Internet sharing.

  • What does a '0' mean on the home screen where the 3G icon usually is?

What does a '0' mean on the home screen where the 3G icon usually is?

That's the icon for GPRS, no EDGE. You have three available data-modes on all 3G-enabled iPhones (3G, 3Gs and 4): The little circle or o for GPRS, the E for Edge and the 3G for UMTS. No icon at all means no data-transfer (no MMS, no Visual Voicemail, no Internet and so on).

What does 'search domains' mean in the IP address

This is the notation which mentions that the parameter is applied to all the instances if you are using a RAC database. Instead of * , you can also mentiona particular instance's SID as well if you want the parameter to work only for that instance.

  • HT4623 what does "renew lease" mean in the wifi settings?

cannot connect to office internet. it has connected before and all other Apple products are connected
want to know what VPN is
also what does "renew lease" means.

VPN is "Virtual Private Network" which are settings set by your IT professionals that will tell your iPad how to log into your network and become "Part" of your business network.  This way if you are at home and for security reasons there are things you need to do and need to be at a computer in the office, you could be at home and your iPad would be part of the office network as if you logged in at your office.
When you renew your lease, you are basically telling your iPad to search for a new IP address on the network.  Throughout times your ISP may change you IP address when the lease runs up on an IP address.  When this is done, most times your router and modem will automatically update "renew" this address, and ocassionally need you to manually do this.  Renewing this lease, does just that, it updates the address information so you can start to properly get information as needed from the network.

  • What does "Camera Profile" mean in the Camera Calibration tab in PSE 12?

I recently made the switch to edit exclusively in Photoshop Elements 12. I need help understanding what I need to select for the "Camera Profile" drop down in the Camera Calibration tab. I shoot with a Canon Mark II. Will the camera profile selection affect my prints at all? First, what does the camera profile mean? I go back and forth between Adobe Standard and Camera Standard. Sometimes I get truer color with Camera Standard than the Adobe Standard for my outside photos. I'm so confused as to which one I should be editing with. I just want to be sure this is not going to affect my prints because I just recently ordered a print from Millers and it was saturated, shadowing and skin had orange tone. I have never had a problem with my calibration and have always ordered from Millers with no problem. This is the first print I ordered after editing exclusively with PSE 12 so I'm wondering if I have setting wrong. Thanks so much!

Will the camera profile selection affect my prints at all?
It will affect prints to the same extent that it affects the monitor display, but no more than that. The differences that you see in color rendering when switching between profiles will be embodied in the jpg that you eventually make for sending to the print lab, but will not in itself cause the discrepancies you describe.

  • What does Consistent=Y means in the export utility

    Hi,
I have been trying to understand consistent=y means through so many books however didnt get my fundamentals clear on that part.
can someone let me know what does this would do??( in brief)
I would also like to know what would happen if consistent is set to N?
also what oracle would do if the export is in progress and some update is going on?
    Thanks
    NK

CONSISTENT was used to get data consistency during the export time. As it explain as well in the doc of export utility.
That say, it's for old export utility, and it is no more used with the new 10g export utility, expdp. By reading the 10g expdp doc, you should learn to use FLASHBACK_SCN or FLASHBACK_TIME instead.
    Nicolas.

  • DFS question: What does "Set Active" mean on the DFS tab in windows server 2008

When I logged into server and went to the DFS tab to check and see if it was replicating between two of the different shares. I saw one share marked as "Active"  What does that mean?
I also seen a button that said "Set Active"  I am guessing its related to my above question.
I am guessing its the root?  The directory that others pull from or something?   I tried to google that all over and could not find anything specific to this question which I found very odd.

If you have multiple folder targets in the namespace then the 'Set Active' button is how you change the current referral (at a client level).  Only enabled folder targets will be listed.  Users can choose a different server if they wish (maybe
    for performance reasons).

  • What does "P:2" mean in the firewall log?

i am getting entries like this in my firewall log:
    63300 Deny P:2 169.254.68.70 224.0.0.251 in via en1
what is "P:2" and how should i deal with this kind of traffic? we are having some odd network issues related to the firewall so i'd like to make the P:2 stuff Allowed instead of Denied, but these entries have no port number and they are neither TCP nor UDP, so i can't see where in the UI to make a change...

right, 169.254.x.x would be one of the office machines that hasn't picked up an IP from the DHCP server yet. 224.0.0.251 is related to bonjour somehow... i am thinking that the machine with the self-assigned IP is using bonjour to talk to other machines on the LAN, or to discover the DHCP server or something like that.
but -- my problem is that i can't figure out what rule in the firewall is causing these P:2 packets to get denied, and likewise how i would go about changing the firewall to accept these packets. for now i've set up an address group for 169.254.0.0/16 and told the firewall to accept all traffic from those IPs, but i still don't understand what P:2 means or why these connections don't have an associated port (which implies that "allow all traffic" is doing something different than checking the box for every service in the list).

  • What does DUMMY=1 mean in the URL string

    Hello,
I am executing WAD template that contains a query for my planning layout. When I look at the URL link of the WAD in the browser, it has the following in it:
    http://xxx.xxx.com:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?TEMPLATE=ZFI_ZFIFMAL02_WT0001&DUMMY=1
What is that DUMMY=1 at the end of the URL string mean ? I have also seen DUMMY=0 in some queries in QA and development systems. Any idea?
    thanks

    Hi,
thanks a lot for this helpful reply. One question I do have though. So, say I created an iView in portal with the link that points directly to my WAD template and the link has say DUMMY=2 in the query string. Now, if I do update my WAD template, would I need to change the link to DUMMY=3? So far what I have noticed that I do save links with DUMMY=X in the URL and then if I do update my WAD, when the user clicks on the link in portal, the WAD still gets updated. So, do you really need DUMMY=X in your link in that case?
    Thanks

  • What does this name mean in the following form

    Hi guys,
Can anyone please tell me abt the name field and also other field onSubmit does in the following form
    <form method="post" action="IAFDispatcher" name="mainForm2" onSubmit="return checkCustomer()">
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys,
Can anyone please tell me abt the name
abt the name field and also other field onSubmit does
    in the following form
    <form method="post" action="IAFDispatcher"
    name="mainForm2" onSubmit="return checkCustomer()">
Thanks in advance. The name field is used for identifying this form on the client side, such as through javascript DOM operations (like document.forms.mainForm2 would locate the form in question).
The onSubmit attribute defines a javascript function that will occur when the 'onsubmit' event of the form is given. The 'onsubmit' event occurs when a submit button is pushed or when a javascript .submit() method is called on the form. The function called my the onsubmit event should return a boolean value: "true" means that submission should continue, and "false" means that the form should not be submitted.

  • What does Siri ready mean on the newest iPad ?

The new iPad says Siri ready? Does it mean a mere update will maki a full Siri like the iPhone ?

I heard it does not have the chip that enables Siri to work as opposed to the iPhone 4S.
The chip controls the IR sensor to distinguish how far is your mouth from the mic, and other features to understand your speech better, thats why Siri is the best

  • What does act/unsup mean in the "show vlan" output

I have 2 same switches with factory default configuration. I found that once those 2 switches are up, the show vlan output is different.
one of the switch shows active in the status column for the vlans 1002-1005, and the other switch shows act/unsup for same set of vlan.
I've delete the vlan.dat file and reboot but the problem is still there.
    Why?
Can anyone tell me what is the meaning of act/unsup?

    Hi,
The 'act/unsup' is stating that the switch doesn't support TR or FDDI vlans.
Check the versions of IOS on both switches to see if they match.
    Regards,
    Phil.
