What does anyone know about Sophos antivirus?

I Had a tech guy install it on my computer and my Mac desktop was so slow and I uninstalled it and was wondering about it

Completely uninstall Sophos Antivirus.
Commercial Antvirus solutions can negatively impact OS X performance and can cause other operational issues with OS X.

Here my tidbit of advice on how to avoid viruses in the future, if you encounter a virus, again.
Some anti-virus solutions can slow down your Mac, but to be honest, the best anit-virus app is you, the user and your brain.
Don't visit questionable websites or website you are unsure about.
Don't use Torrents or engage in "Torrenting"
Don't install pirated software or software downloaded from a questionable or unknown websites or untrutsted sources.
Java is still a vulnerability concern, if you do not need it, don't use it.
Use a browser filter and pop-up blocker
Don't open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize.
Install security updates when they become available
Educate yourself as to what threats are common and active.
In effect, use your own brain as the antivirus filter.
Follow that advise and in MOST cases, you will be fine and won't risk your Mac to potential Trojans, malware or viruses.
If you feel you need some baseline virus protection that is minimally invasive on the Mac OS X system, install

1st: when you get the pop-ups, they will get worse over time. I heard from other people they even could'nt open their Safari anymore. The problem with mackeeper pop-ups is that they you can't view a website before you press some buttons of them (wich leeds to problems) and that they aren't pop-ups from the site you're viewing (so the site you're viewing don't get paid for it).
To avoid this pop-ups: download glimmerblocker!
Really search on internet if you can trust it (I also did), but you'll see it's safe. Really great software. Since I downloaded it, and put it on, I never got these problems anymore!
I never downoaded mackeeper but still the pop-up would show up more frequntly over time, really frustrating.
2nd: When you download it, you got some serious problems. It isn't good software at all. It slows your mac to a new level. I don't know what to do in this case.

Restore the phone using iTunes. First time restore your backup. If the problem is not fixed restore again, and this time set up as New.

If you want to delete your personalization or pages just use functional Administrator responsibility or use jdr_utils.delete_document().

It would appear you have some sort of notification set up and have yet to look at the app which is sending the notification to the phone.
You would have to first determine which app is sending the notification and then change the settings in that app to disable notifications if you no longer want to be alerted by that app.

Does anyone know of an app that I can download that will read me my e-books? I have CourseSmart. I mainly need it for my commute, which is 45 minutes there and 45 minutes back. It could be useful so I could be read to during that 1.5 hours. Thanks apple users.

Restore is about the only option left, short reinstalling the whole thing as new.
Before you restore, go to I tunes and turn off automatic sync. Then plug the machine in. Upload any photos that you have taken with the pad into I photos, or where ever you keep your pictures. Then, in I tunes, transfer any purchases.
If any apps or purchased music get lost in the process, you can download them again for free.
You do not want to make a backup of what you have on the pad now. If you do, when you restore, you will simply recreate the same problem.
What you want to do is restore from a prior backup. Do that.
Then run the system status app and see what the CPU numbers look like. If they are ok, then you can start to re add apps until the problem shows up.
If this does not do it, then the last step is to set the pad up as new. Check the numbers, then add the apps and settings back one by one. While it is likely to be an app, it may be a setting somewhere.

I just returned to Apple after a 25 year hiatus. I am trying to create my first home movie with iMovie. I have worked past the problem of importing from my mini-DVD's used by my Sony camera. However, after converting (using Streamclip) the video to a format the iMovie recognizes, my movies are 'jerky' when there is alot of motion in the frame. The movies are only jerky when played back on my television. I had this same problem while using Adobe Premiere on the PC and the solution was to reverse the Field Dominance (whatever that is). This was an issue related to the fact that my video was not loaded directly from the camera but from a DVD. Does anyone know if iMovie has the same issue? And if so, what is the solution? I have been unable to find any mention of Field Dominance in iMovie help.

Target's return policy. Does anyone know about it?

Well I'm planning on returning my iPT to the Apple Store next week bc of multiple stuck pixels. When they replace it I'm thinking of not opening the box and returning it to get a full refund and maybe getting it from Target bc talking to a "Genious" 4 times is QUITE annoying. Does anyone know how Target's return policy is? If I get a faulty screen with dead/stuck pixels for example. Do I just go back to Target and return it and grab a new one?

I don't know how they handle bad pixels but if you showed them the iPod and said it wasn't what you expected or feel its bad. I'm sure they will take it back.

HHello I would like to know if anyone knows about a 'lemon Law' on new cell phones that have had to be replaced 4 times now. Verizon keeps wanting to send me a Like New Refurbished cell phone. And after going thru so much with these cellphones, I don not want another like-new one. I have the Samsung -s4 and have had nothing but problems with it. I read Verizon contract about replacements and it says that they can send you " A new one, a Like-new refer ones , or ones that is like the first new one. But all I keep getting from then is we can only send you a Refurbished one. Not Cool! I have been going round and round with Verizon for over two weeks now spending hours on the phone not counting the 5 hours I spent in town at the Verizon store. So if anyone could please help me to see how I can go about getting a New Samsung s4 or better instead do someone else's give backs I would be so ever Grateful to you. Agape P. Craig

Does anyone know about a hard drive being corrupted by travelling from a Mac to a PC then back again?

Ok, so I wrote a bunch of data to a Seagate ST2000DL003 3.5 inch 2TB Hard Drive - mac formatted - then put it into a PC and it couldn't read the drive. But when I plugged the drive back into the mac pro the drive was unreadable/corrupt. Does anyone know what's happened and is this data recoverable?

Use Disk Utility "Repair Disk" and see what it says. It may be trivial and easily fixable.
