If the damage is due to a manufacturing defect, they will unquestionably replace it. If the damage was caused by misuse or mishandling, such as dropping, Apple is obliged to do nothing. Your best bet is to go to the Genius bar at an Apple store and explain what happened, perhaps they will replace the iPod. Also, If you bought your iPod with a credit card, check with your card company. Some cards provide Purchase Protection insurance which will replace or repair any item lost, stolen or damaged within 90 days of purchase.

Unless you have a backup from which you can restore, yes you will lose all of your data and settings.
You should be able to sync your content back to the iPad if you have been syncing with iTunes all along. If you don't sync with iTunes, you can download much of your paid content again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID. This explains downloading past purchases.

Probably dead if you have tried to charge it.
You should never try to charge or turn on a wet electronic device.
You should let it dry for a week or so, then try. -
My hard disk died with confidential information, what does Apple do with the data?
My question is: does Apple guarantee that the data from a dead hard disk will be destroyed? I'm in Chile and the authorized support stores don't handle that information.

I have a Sony Mini HiFi (CMT- BX70DBI) and my 4th gen does not fit on the dock. I assume I need an adaptor, but which one?
If the Sony uses the Universal Dock System you need this adopter. If it does not they try Sony.

IPod not 2 weeks old and it's already a paper weight
Just received the newest iPod as a gift not 2 weeks ago, and it's dead. Went to use it and it didn't respond - no power? Plugged it in to charge it and got a lit blank screen. No other response. Reset does nothing. Can't even "restore" since it's not recognized by windows or iTunes.
I've searched the forums, done everything possible to fix it myself to no avail. Here's my question - Send it away to be serviced by Apple or try and exchange it at Bestbuy (where it was purchased) for a new one????

With all the flack that Bestbuy has been receiving because of thier practices before Christmas, I believe they will replace it without questions. On the shipping label for repairs to them, what does Apple uses as the return address?
I lost the tracking number and FedEx needs the orgin location that the package was sent from. It was a return label from Apple and I guess it wasn't my home address.

Try this...
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloaing Mountain Lion.
Might also need to disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall. -

Nothing. The 2nd Gen Touch is OBSOLETE and is WAY past its support life. If you want to run the newer apps you have to buy a newer iPod. -

I am aware that the iPod Touch 5g has no official date yet, on the site it only says: Available to ship: October. But, does anyone know what a possible, date for the iPod to be released? :)
Well, I recently checked apple.com, and the "pre-order" button has been replaced with the "buy now" button. This is a very good sign that the iPods will begin to ship soon! There is still no exact date, but I expect that they will ship within the next 3 days. You should get an email when they have shipped.
