Where can I find apple's maintenance advice on caring for a macbook pro? I would like honest advice about how to get my laptop running fast again. I would also like to know what the facts are about permissions and why I have 5 that will not remain repaired despite the utility telling me they are repaired but further verification shows they are still not correct or have been undone. If anyone could send me a link to a good website that is not trying to sell me third party software that would be really appreciated. Also, if anyone has information on why laptops slow down in general that would be helpful.

At that point, I had taken one of the DIMs out to see if the RAM was the issue. I took it to the Apple Store and they said that the hard drive might be bad, so they wiped everything on the hard drive. After that, I was still experiencing the kernel panics. So another guy looked at it and said that it might be bad RAM. So I called the company and got them to send me more RAM and after inserting the new RAM, I still get kernel panics. I've been saving all the panic reports in a folder on my flash drive. Today I got a total of four. And then I got four the day before that. Mind you, this didn't start happening until I upgraded my system to Mavericks.
I really wish there was a way I could post them all so someone could look at them, cause to be honest, none of the code in it makes any sense to me.

Hey there... I've had my macbook for about a month now. I love it except for ONE thing. In the area where my palms rest on the Macbook the white is turning slightly brown. Yes if you call Apple or take your MacBook to an Apple store then they will replace your cover with a new cover which is a different kind of plastic.
I had discoloration about 3 months ago and I called Apple and they sent me a box to send my MacBook to them and then they replaced the cover and had my MacBook back to me in 2 days looking good as new!!
If you don't want to wait that long and need your MacBook daily then you can take it in to an Apple store and they should be able to replace your cover the same day or if not the same day then the next day. It all just depends on how busy they are and if it is not major Apple store because some Apple stores that aren't that big can't do in store repairs.

I'm reading a lot about Core Duo and Core Solo errors. 34 of them. Intel intends to fix just one of them.
I'm yet to find an Apple article on the issue.
I had been contemplating adding an Intel Mac to my stable but I'm pretty certain I'll not be rushing into this until Apple makes a statement to relieve my concerns.

Well, I'm not so sure. Owners of new Intel Macs
certainly appear to be having problems.
Those problems are unrelated to the flaws in the Core Duo.
Processor flaws are "normal", you can't build a chip with several million transistors on it without there being a few problems. That said, the flaws are really edge cases and you'd have to be doing something downright weird to encounter most of them.
It's also worth noting that more than half of the flaws can only be encountered if the processor is in debug mode.
I'll wait for the Apple statement.
I very much doubt you'll get one. They didn't release a statement for the 24 known flaws in the G5 or the 36 known flaws in the G4.
If you hold off buying a computer because the processor has flaws then you'll never buy a computer.
I suspect what's happened here is that a journalist who doesn't understand what's going on found an Intel errata sheet and started yelling about the sky falling. Since most people never hear about these flaws they assume that they're indicative of a broken design. The truth is that nothing is out of the ordinary, there is nothing to be worried about.

They wont do anything about the heat as that is something that happens to all macbooks.
They might switch your fan out for a different model to eliminate the moo and they'll probably replace your discoloured plastic. If you mention the lcd bezel they would probably do that when they fix the other issues, if you dont tell them its a problem they might not do anything to it.
I wouldnt worry too much about not having a receipt. i should think an official apple store would take it in, even if they just sent it off to a repair center. Theres no way they can argue that its out of warranty considering the macbook hasnt been out anywhere near a year.

Also when I purchased my iMac it came with Leopard osx system, last year I installed the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 system and since then cannot read CD's or DVD's from PC or my husbands new iMac with Mountain Lion system.

Why is the sound of my new ipad cutting out intermittently and what does Apple recommend to solve the problem in lieu of any updates? All of a sudden without changing any settings, the audio on my NEW ipad cuts in and out on applications/ games, keypad noise and lock sounds. The rocker button only seems to work while the sound is intermittently being heard before, after a few seconds of noise not doing anything when sound goes off.
This is highly frustrating as I've noticed others posting about such issues as far back as April. Anybody had the same thing happen to them? Is this likely software (ios6) or hardware issue? What are the solutions Apple???

If it does indeed show the warranty has expired, then what you need to do from here will depend on who you purchased the iPad from and when you really did purchase it. Perhaps you actually purchased it in August and are just misremembering? Check your receipt. What part of that statement in your link do you not get? App developers will or will not make those changes, not Apple. It is entirely possible some apps will never get updated for retina, as their developers will drop those products and move on to new ones. Yes, Apple may set certain minimum standards and requirements for inclusion of anyone's app in their storefront (as I already said), but it is entirely up to the developers to actually implement those changes. Complaining on an Apple forum that a particular developer chose not to is pointless and a waste of everyone's time.

You don't need to open the iPhone to remove the SIM. There's a depressed button on the top that you can press with a bent paperclip, and the SIM tray pops right out. Actually, it's something that's recommended to do prior to sending iPhone in for service, if and when necessary. But, SIM cards for third parties are still not supported for use within the iPhone, and I'm sure there's some software or hardware limitations in place to prevent it from being hacked (for the time being).
