  • What bluetooth protocol does the iPod Touch use with a keyboard?

    Hi...
Say, does anyone know what bluetooth protocol apple is using for their bluetooth keyboards for the iPhone and iPod Touch? It is probably HID, but the people at RIM (i.e. BlackBerry) use SPP. So I would think many 3rd party keyboards use SPP (Serial Port Protocol). But, then, there are many posts about "I wish Apple would support SPP" because people want to build apps that interface with external HW that only supports SPP.
What I want to do? (you ask)
I've one of these nice / expensive Think-out-side portable folding keyboards (good). That only has a serial interface (bad). There are many bluetooth "dongles" out there with serial ports (good). But they only support SPP or Serial Port Protocol (bad? maybe? depends).
See, I know RIM (BlackBerry) people support SPP on their devices. But I haven't heard (found) word one about what the iPod Touch supports. I would hate to spend $80 on one of these dongles and find out it doesn't work.
So, what does the iPod Touch use when talking to the bluetooth keyboard?
    -thanks

From page 37 of iOS 4.1 Touch Users Guide:
    Using an Apple Wireless Keyboard
    For ease of typing, you can use an Apple Wireless Keyboard (available separately;
iPod touch 3rd generation or later).

  • What does connecting my iPod touch to my iMac via BlueTooth do?

I connected my 3rd Gen iPod touch to my 27" iMac through bluetooth just for the fun of it, and I'm just wondering what difference it makes. Are there any features that I can use to utilise the connection. The only thing i noticed from glimpsing through the apps is the addition of accounts on the notes app. Other than that, I can't seem to find any other use.

I'm just wondering what difference it makes
    None
Are there any features that I can use to utilise the connection.
    No
The only thing i noticed from glimpsing through the apps is the addition of accounts on the notes app.
That's unrelated to Bluetooth and did not occur as a result of you pairing the iPod touch and iMac.
Bluetooth in the iPod touch is for connecting headsets/headphones/speakers, keyboards, and some peer to peer games.

  • I have an old iphone 3G that I want to use as an ipod touch. It does have a sim card and it has been reset but for some reason it will not pick up my wireless network, or any other wireless network.  What is the problem?

I have an old iphone 3G that I want to use as an ipod touch.  It does have a sim card in it and it has been reset. For some reason it will not pick up my wireless network in my house, or any other wireless network.  What could be the problem?

    Is this the problem:

  • Well, I was updating my iPod Touch and it went flat while updating. Now every time I go to turn it on it says it's flat, so I charge it and when its turning on it does the apple symbol but then it flashes and goes straight to a blue screen. What can I do?

Thats what happens to it. How you fix it?
    P.s: don't mind my screen.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

It also looks like your screen is badly cracked. Whatever caused that may have lead to the current problem.

  • I just bought an Ipod Nano for my husband from a friend. We cannot figure how to add songs. I have an Ipod Touch and everything I pull up on Itunes is dealing with mine...I can't do anything with his Nano. What are we doing wrong?

I purchased an Ipod Nano from someone yesterday. How do I register it in my name and unregister the previous owner. I have a 4th gen Ipod touch and was told I could add songs from my library to the nano but we can't seem to do anything with it. HELP please!!

Connect it to your computer and restore it as a new device. Then chose what music you want to sync with it and do so just like your Touch does.

  • I shop for for apps on my ipod touch and when i plug my ipod into itunes and it says erase and sync what does that mean?

    hello all,
i normally shop on my ipod touch (because frankly i cant be bothered to plug it into itunes then shop! ) to shop for apps and song and etc. and because i have a wall charger in my room theres pratically no need to go the computer! so sometimes when im on the computer i want to use my ipod touch as well so i charge it on the pc.
well to cut the story short everytime i want to shop on itunes it comes up with this note that says "your ipod is synced with a different pc etc" then it comes up with erase and sync? so my question is what does syn mean? because im worried if i choose ok it would get rid of all my apps
    - someone help me!

    - It means what it says.  Your iPod is synced with a different iTunes library.  To transfer purchases to this computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - If you want to make this computer your syncing computer see ths previous discussion:

  • HT201263 My iPod touch suddenly stopped working. It was fine, but when I went back the screen had gone black and I was unable to turn it on. It is now unresponsive and my computer does not recognize it when it is plugged in. What should I do?

My iPod touch suddenly stopped working. It was fine earlier, but when I went back a few hours later, the screen had gone black and I was unable to turn it on. It is now unresponsive and my computer does not recognize it when it is plugged in. I thought it just needed to be charged but there seems to be a larger issue now. What should I do?

Let your ipod die. Then when it is dead charge it adn turn it back on. After that it should be fine.

  • When I see the usage on my iPod touch 4 they have categories for how much space is being used where. What does the "other" category contain? Like what could I delete on my iPod to get rid of the "other" category?

when I see the usage on my iPod touch 4 they have categories for how much space is being used where. What does the "other" category contain? Like what could I delete on my iPod to get rid of the "other" category?

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
    First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
    as recommended by:
How do I get rid of "other" storage: Apple Support Communities
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • My ipod touch is flashing white on and off, I hold the buttons down, and the screen goes black- but the apple logo does not come on. What do I do?

So I have had this problem before, and know that you hold down the top Power button and the Home button, at the same time, for roughly 10 seconds, or until the apple logo comes on.
The problem is, when I press the buttons and the screen goes black, like it's supposed to before the logo pops up, the apple logo isn't appearing.
I was wondering if that's because my I pod touch was drained when I plugged it in to charge, and I tried to turn it on when it was still charging?
    What can I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

  • The front camera on my iPod touch 4th generation is frozen. I cannot use it. Updating software does not help. This started right after I bought it, new from BestBuy. What can I do?

The front camera on my iPod touch 4th generation is frozen. I cannot use it. Updating software does not help. This started right after I bought it, new from BestBuy. What can I do? When i go to the camera, it is stuck on a black screen. the only way to use my camera is through other camera apps, but if I try to switch it to the front camera, it freezes again.

If you still have the problem after retoring the iPOd to factory defaults/new iPod then The iPod is likely defective and replacement is required.  You can make an appoinment at the Genius Bar of an APple store or take it back to BestBuy if within warranty
