What does "HTTP Error 400. The request is badly formed." mean?

Typed a web address and get above message. Another family member uses Firefox but does not get this error when entering the same address. Tried to restart with add-ons disabled but did not work.

  • ICal error "400" the request for account fail!!

iCal on my Macbook keeps on popping up with the following:
The server responded with an error.
The request for account “myemail (at) yahoo.com” failed.
    The server responded with
    “400”
    to operation CalDAVCalendarSplitDualTypeCalendarQueueableOperation.
I don't even have a calendar account with my yahoo account, since I use my gmail and iCloud calendar. I went into system preferences and made certain the "calendars" option was unchecked for my yahoo account in the Internet Accounts page. Nonetheless, iCal pops up with the same error message multiple times within the hour. I'm not sure why iCal is even requesting for my yahoo calendar, since I have never used it in iCal since day one. Any ideas?

Just out of curiosity, did you install FileZilla recently? The install comes with malware called Speedial. You may have noticed that your default search engine in all browsers is set to Yahoo, and furthermore impossible to override via the normal course of action.
Removing Yahoo from local apps is easier than resetting them. All I had to do was delete the (added without my consent) Yahoo account from System Preferences, and the iCal Yahoo calendar disappeared momentarily.
For resetting Safari, look here: Reset Safari Settings/Preferences

  • I get "HTTP Error 400. The request is badly formed." when trying to access a URL that I have accessed previously in the day and works OK with IE.

    Hi
I accessed the site earlier in the day but when I came back to it I got the above message. Tried to access the site in IE and all worked fine. Tried disabling DNS prefetch and clearing out history but to no avail. I ran a virus scan but with no threat detected.

  • I click on a link inside an email and it won't open so I can print the coupon, response is http error 400 or I have it blocked. Others in my area aren't having any problems with the same link opening but they are using IE. What's up with Firefox?

gohollywood.com, register, message came back from Hollywood Insider with a link to click on to "Download Coupon". Click on link and you should get the coupon and you print it out. All my friends have done it but I can't. I get various error messages including : "HTTP error 400 - the request is badly formed".... or you have a blocker set.....
Unless it is a Gmail/Firefox blocker or firewall, I don't have anything set up as a blocker on my email. Had a few friends go in my account on their computers and they had the same thing happen. However when they go in under their names they get to the link with no problems. HELP.

See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

The server is failing to download some updates.
This error is happening everyday. Please advise for a fix.
If this is happening on an UPSTREAM server it is because you have approved updates that are no longer available from Microsoft. Almost always this involves approvals of *EXPIRED* updates (which have been pulled from the catalog and cannot be downloaded).
If this is happening on a DOWNSTREAM server it's because something/someone deleted the files from the upstream server. It can also happen if the entire upstream ~\WSUSContent folder has gone amuk.
For an upstream server, find the expired updates, remove the approvals, cancel the downloads, and then decline the updates.
For a downstream server, figure out what the affected updates are and fix the upstream server.

  • What does this error message mean and how do I solve it? "Sorry, one or more of the following command-line tools was not found:  /usr/bin/lsbom, /bin/pax, /bin/mkdir, /bin/chmod, or /usr/bin/update_prebinding."

When I try to open up this program, Pacifist, I receive this error message. Here's a screenshot. http://i.imgur.com/v717w.jpg What does this error message mean and how do I solve it?

It sounds like some of the Unix Executable commands were removed (or the permissions to those were modified) out of the /usr/bin/ folder.  You can try opening disk utility and repairing permissions on Macintosh HD or you can reboot your computer and holding down option-r when it comes back up to reinstall Lion again.  This will not delete your personal information or applications you have installed but it would be best to back it up to Time Machine before you do.  The article on how to do this is here. (http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/)  I have had to do this before and it works like a charm.  It should fix your issue but grab a cup of coffee because its going to take about 35 - 40 minutes depending on how fast your computer is.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Error message: The request for account "iCloud" failed.  The server responded with "400" to operation CalDAVUpdateShareesQueuableOperation.

I created a new public iCAL. Trying to send invitations to join and am receiving this error message:
The request for account “iCloud” failed.
    The server responded with
    “400”
    to operation CalDAVUpdateShareesQueuableOperation.
Tried copying the URL link provided for the Calendar into a MailChimp announcement.  Not working.
I've tried the uncheck calendar method on iCLOUD and re-checking to stop the pop-up message.
Is this perhaps because they don't have an iCLOUD account? If they have iTUNES, shouldn't it work?
    Appreciate any help.

    Try this first:
In iCal Preferences…, choose Accounts, then select the account that is giving you trouble. Uncheck the box labeled Enable this account. Wait a few seconds, then re-check the box. This should solve the problem.

    Welcome to the Apple forums.
Good idea to fill out your profile so people can see what machine you are writing about.
Also a good idea to do a little research through the 'More like this' panel to the right of your initial post.    Each of the threads also contains more leads so it is amazing how much you can learn from them.

  • HTTP Error 400 with BC adapter

    Hi,
does anyone have experience with the BC (business connector) adapter in XI. We have a sender BC compatible system that sends IDocs over HTTPS to our BC today. BC forwards these IDocs to our R/3 backend. Now we want to migrate from BC to XI. Therefore I set up a sender BC adapter. But when a message comes in via HTTPS to the adapter XI responds HTTP Error 400 which means 'Bad request, not understood by server'. When I check the logs of XI I find the following:
Could not parse payload body due to com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.MessageFormatException: unexpected document: DOC_TYPE_GENERAL_PLAIN#
    Any ideas what's wrong?

    Hi there,
    Many thanks for your reply.
This notes is not applicable to our Portal Version (NW04).
    Any others ideas?
    Best regards,
