What does it mean Setup as new device?
I am attaching my iPhone to my new computer via iTunes. I just want to setup a new sync playlist. iTunes is asking me to restore from previous backup or set up as net device. Afraid to set up as new device....does that mean it is setting my iPhone up as a new device....or just setting it as a new device on that installation of iTunes?? I don't want to wipe out my iPhone.....
It means it is a replacement handset, it may be new, it may be refurbished. If you are unwilling to accept a refurbished model since you just bought yours either ask to speak to a manager or return yours and buy another one.

I am trying to back up my fiels from old iPhone 3S to the new one I have just bought using iCloud and when I am doing it, my new iphone 5 is writing thet iCloud back-up are compatible with the version of iOS (6.0.2) on this iPhone. What does it mean?
I just worked on this same issue for someone else at work (iPhone 4 or 4S up to date). The iPhone 5 needs to be up to date to the newest version of IOS
Here is what I did:
1. Got into the iPhone 5 without using an account
2. After getting in, it shows that there is an update
3. Completed the update
4. After the phone rebooted, went in and completed a reset of the phone to factory
5. When it came back up followed prompts and was able to restore from iCloud backup.
Hope this helps -
What does "other" mean when syncing my device?
i plug in my iphone 4s into my imac. there is over 2 GB labelled under Other in iTunes... how do i minimize it simply? what exactly is it? what does it mean? can somebody please let me know?
"Other" is just that. All of the data on your phone that is not listed explicitly; everything except music, videos, photos, podcasts and apps. Examples include email, text messages, mms messages and their images, app data, Siri cache, Safari cache, maps, operating system settings such as mail accounts, WiFi settings and passwords, album art, etc, etc, etc.
5 GB is a bit large, however, so you may have some data corruption also. Take a look at "More Like This" to the right of your post. -
Please lmk ASAP.
Does the charger actually chafe the phone?
I have same thing with one of mine I got from the market.
But as it still does the job I just ignore the alert
My stereo has a similar issue where it doesn't charge but still plays music so it suits me still
Hope that eases your mind. -

When I tried to sync my iphone 4 and ipad in iturnes, an error message popped up saying this device cannot be used because Apple Mobile Device service is not started! What does that mean and how do I start service? I've had these devices for over a year and update and sync regularly and have never seen this message before!
I got that message yesterday. I'm new at this so don't know if this is the correct solution but it worked for me. I reset my iPod by holding the 2 buttons down until the apple appears AND I restarted my computer. After that everything worked.

Trying to update my new phone 4s to iOS6. It says my phone is in recovery mode what does this mean. And how do I solve it please?
It means exactly what it says.
Connect the device to iTunes and restore. -
I just recently returned an IPad air and exchanged it for another. I first set up this new one as a new IPad but then deleted all content and settings right away (since I wasn't getting the progress I had made in apps and games) in order to restore it from my previous IPad Air. I then checked after on how to backup via icloud and saw this line under the subtitle of how to restore from a backup, "For best battery performance, leave your device connected to a power source until the restore is complete." What does Apple mean by "for best battery performance"? Im just a bit worried of issues.
p.s. And yes I did have it connected to the power. And the ios is the default ios for new IPad Airs.Welcome to the Apple Community.
It only means you should restore whilst it is connected to a power supply, so that your battery doesn't go flat during the process. -
What does it mean when a popup indicates another device on the network is accessing my computer's IP address?
On a related note, if you have a lot of family devices that use your router and don't care about tracking one of them down, you can fix it easily.
1. Just click on the Apple Logo () in the top left of your screen and choose "System Preferences"
2. Click "Network" from the System Preferences window.
3. Click "Advanced..." from the bottom right.
4. Click "Renew DHCP Lease" form the "TCP/IP" pane on the window that drops down (it should already be on that pane).
5. Click "Ok" at the bottom, then "Apply" at the bottom.
That should ask the router for a new DHCP connection, which will prompt it to give you a new IP address that is not already in use.
If that fails to work for some reason, you might need some more advanced steps, or you might just track down the other device and restart it. -
my computer is macbook white with Mac OS X (10. 6.8), will i able to use the new Airport Time Capsule 2TB and work properly with Time Capsule on my computer to back up wirelessly?
And what does it mean "to administrate" because it was written in requirement of the Airport Time Capsule 2TB ?You must use a Mac running Lion (10.7.5), Mountain Lion or Mavericks to be able to set up the Time Capsule and make any changes to the settings.
A recent version iPhone or iPad could also be used for this task.
From the Specifications on the Time Capsule:
Setup and Administration
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6 or later and AirPort Utility 1.3
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and AirPort Utility 6.3 -

I have downloaded music to my phone through my Apple ID and it has this message that reads you can download purchases on this device with one Apple ID account every ninety days, what does this mean and how do I fix it?
Well, it doesn't mean that at all. You can download music purchased with an Apple ID to up to 10 devices. There is no 90 day wait. The wait is if you change the Apple ID.

I just downloaded itunes onto my new laptop and I am trying to burn songs onto a cd that I had purchased previously and I am getting an error message that states I must authorize this computer. What does that mean?
If the computer's running Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on Store, and choose Authorize this Computer.
If the computer's running Windows, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.
