I've recently bought an iPhone and got my phone number switched over to a micro sim card.. But when i try to set the iPhone up it keeps saying Sim card not compatible. What does this mean?
Your iphone is liely locked to a carrier.
You would need a SIM card from that carrier or you would have to ask that carrier of they unlock iphones and if you qualify.

BEfore you try to Restore it, try a simple Reset.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first). -

When I go to lead itunes on my computer I get a message that says "Apple mobile device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficent privleges to start system services. What does this mean?
It means iTunes has failed to update propely. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Sorry. I tried what he said to do, but I could not get the ringtone "coqui" to download to the phone after connecting it to the iTunes stores and backing it up. The ringtone in question is in my library, but I cannot copy it or move it to my iPhone. Hope somebody can help.

There are normally a couple of reasons you would hear that particular message.
1.If the announcement is received when calling one specific number the issue is with that device's service provider. They would need to contact their provider and do an investigation.
2. If the announcement is received when ANY number is called the issue is with the Verizon Wireless network. At that time, we we need to open a remedy ticket (which reports it to our engineers to investigate further).

What other options are available if your iphone is lost/stolen but it registers as "offline" on find my iphone location services? I imagine if I suspend the services, this eliminates the "find my iphone" features. Feel at a loss here. Anybody have any other information to share on this topic? Thanks.

Find My iPhone is a generic term that is used for this feature regardless of whether it is turned on on an iPad or an iPhone.
If you deleted your iCloud account on your iPad, and have not signed back on to iCloud, then the Find My iPhone feature is turned off, and your device is not protected nor can it be tracked if it is stolen.
Sign back into iCloud on your iPad, and go to Settings>iCloud to turn Find My iPhone back on to remedy this situation, if you wish.

It doesn't matter when you installed antivirus software; if you have it on your computer it will frequently block access from applications to sites it does not know about. A sync does not require access to a site not on your computer; an upgrade clearly does. So if you have never jailbroken any device you do not need to be concerned about your hosts file, but you DO need to temporarily disable your antivirus during the update process.
The hosts file is an operating system file on all computers that overrides DNS lookup. In order to jailbreak or hack an iDevice the programs that do it need to redirect iTunes so it does not go to the Apple activation server, but instead goes to the hacking program for activation instructions. It does this by adding a record to the hosts file that bypasses the DNS lookup for gs.apple.com. But you don't have to be concerned about this. -

Apple does not fix iPhones, they replace them if covered by warranty. That means you'll be getting a refurbished unit. -
