What does LR do with the previews it creates?

LR appears to make a folder of previews as it does it's thing.
Will this folder just continue to get huger and huger as I use the app more.?
It's liable to get enormous.
What should I do about it?

If it disturbes you I personally see no reason why you shouldn't be able just to delete this folder from time to time. LR will build the previews on launch again.
An opinion I obtained from Michael T of Pixmantec fame was to only have RAW images in your Library and not TIFFs e.g. if you export to CS2 and have LR auto import the TIFFs and stack them. He sees no point in having the TIFFs in the Library as well as they just take up more space (also by implication, more previews). I'm personally going to run with this idea for a while and see how it goes.

The problem is that they sent the disk to the US and are expecting to get a new one in a few weeks (yes, I'll be that long without my computer).

I have a freaky Java problem. I'm running a program that takes an input file, reads it one line at a time, and determines whether the info I'm looking for is contained in it or not. For each line it reads, it decides if that line is good or bad, and broadcasts the findings in a System.out.println(). Every line gets one. When I run the program, I redirect the output to a log file. What's going on when the input file is 13000+ lines long and the log file is only 2500 lines long? This is tweakin' me out.

As far as I can tell, I have every line accounted for in the else statement or the last if statement. If the line doesn't meet the req., it doesn't get to go on to the last if processing. All the good ones get processed. I think.

What does XP do with installers?

When you download software and Windows XP installs it, what does it do with the installer? Does it delete it? Save it somewhere? I have downloaded a bunch of software in the past few days. My downloads go to my desktop usually in XP. But on a lot of this stuff (AutoCAD type software) after the install happens, there is not installer on my desktop. The reason I ask is my hard drive space is bloated so I'm thinking it is putting the installers somewhere. I already checked in the "Recycle" can but nothing in there. I'm trying to figure out if these installs are really taking up that much space or if the installer is archived somewhere which I would like to delete as they were big GB downloads. Anyone know?

If you select the Run option when it starts to download, Windows will download it to the temp folder, where it may get deleted once the install has finished. If you select the Download option, it will download into whatever folder you have set for downloads in the browser settings, where you will need to run the installer manually.

I am a forensic examiner with an iPod 5G in Recovery Mode. As a 'non Apple' person, what does 'restore' imply with reference to the 5G? Does it affect any data on teh iPod, like pics, and videos?

As stated in the title, I am a forensic examiner, although most of my work is on Windows devices. My problem is an iPod 5G with Touch Wheel that I received to exam, and I have not been able to get anything from conventional methods. But not really understanding enough about the Apple architecture and iPods, when I plug it into a computer, it appears to be in Recovery Mode, and calls for a Restore. The questions I have are:
1) How does the iPod get into Recovery mode
2) How to get it out of Recovery mode
3) But more importantly, what does Restore do to the device? If there happen to be items of interest (pics, videos, etc), does the restore affect them?

you can remove preferences files by navigating to the Preferences folder for your user as follows:
0) Quit ALL iWork apps (Keynote, Pages and Numbers)
1) from the Finder select the menu item "Go > Go To Folder…". This will bring up a dialog:
2) enter the path "~/Library/Preferences" (no double quotes)
3) find the files:
com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist
com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
and move these to the trash. I would NOT empty until later.
4) restart Numbers

No they do not and no it is not affecting a large portion of the user community.
If it is an actual hardware issue, the only fix is to repair or replace the hardware.
If it is a software issue, restoring as new will fix it.

Many people have the same problem. However, there is little or nothing readily available to users. This problem has existed for two or more years. Does anyone have anything to offer about this disturbing problem?

9.0.115 and 9.0.124 and both fail with the policy permission error.
I also tried with and without your crossdomain.xml file but
with the same result. It looks like this file is intended for URL
policy, instead of socket policy. Recently Adobe separated the two.
When I run with the files installed on my dev PC, it does
work, which makes sense because the flash player isn't loaded from
an unknown domain.
I did get one step closer. If a crossdomain.xml in the server
root exists and the socketpolicy file is loaded from the app folder
then the first two warnings disappear. The logs now show:

UPDATE: When serving up the policy file on port 843 using the

Go to the APP store or Itunes. On the bottom of the mainpage, tap your apple id, view account. Then you can edit the payment information. Or you can do it(if you encounter a problem there) on Itunes on computer. Just go to the store, select your name and edit information. Make sure everything matches...exp date, name as appears on card etc..

I changed my browser fill and the update does not show in the preview mode. I saved and restarted muse but the problem is still there. Any thing else I can do? Could it be something that changed in the file?

What did you put in the "browser fill" area, an image or a color? WIth gradient or with solid color? Also, does it show fine if you "Preview in Browser"?
Screenshots showing the Browser fill section (like this: http://screencast.com/t/RHqdVPP4) and the display in Preview mode would also be helpful.
