What does "Personal Use Only" for small business owners mean?

For small businesses or Sole-Proprietors, computers they use for business are also the machines being used for personal use. If I understand the new Mac App Store license correctly, you cannot ethically purchase an app on the App Store that will be used for business use. If that is the case, the greatest oxymoron is that they have a "Business" section in the App Store.
I truly LOVE how easy the App Store makes managing one's apps, but if I have to now deal with seperating all purchases based on it's overall use, they have just complicated the small business scene for small business owners.
I fully understand them wanting to discourage a large business from purchasing, for example, Aperture, once and installing it on 100+ machines. But if that is what they're trying to avoid, why not be more specific in the terms of the updated App Store license info. Instead, they are shooting down any and all use of anything purchased in the App Store for business.
Any other small business owners facing the same situation?

Here is a clause from the Terms and Conditions, which can be found at http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/us/terms.html#APPS
*Begin quote*
(ii) If you are a commercial enterprise or educational institution, you may download a Mac App Store Product for use either (a) by a single individual on each of the Mac Product(s) that you own or control, or (b) by multiple individuals on a single shared Mac Product that you own or control. For example, a single employee may use a Mac App Store Product on both the employee’s desktop Mac Product and laptop Mac Product, or multiple students may serially use the Product on a single Mac Product located at a resource center or library.
*End quote*
It seems that as long as you abide by these guidelines, you can use App Store apps for business.

The only real choice is FileMaker Pro unless you are a programmer. There are other databases but they are either very light weight or something a programmer would be required to set up.

  • Can I use acrobat pro 7.0 for small business company?

    Hi,
We want to use acrobat pro 7.0 at our company. The link is https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?pid=2026489&e=cs2_downloads where I downloaded.
I read license term for this. I've not found license policy for small business company. Is this product free for any persons?
    Please reply for me.
    Thank you!
    -Matthew-

you're welcome, but no, acrobat 7 cannot legally be used by non-licensed users for any length of time.
and while there are non-current adobe trial versions available back to certain versions, for acrobat, version 8 is the oldest trial version available.  so, you can legally download and use (for 30 days) unlicensed acrobat versions, 8, 9, X and the current version XI.
the acrobat pro 7 that adobe is making available is only legal to use by licensed acrobat 7 owners.  it is not legal to use for 30 days, or any other duration (limited or not), for non-licensed users.

  • I dont need CC - only Ps for small business

How to order only Ps for small business - 3 lisences?
Would be nice to administer them from a team account, not buy 3 different lisences.

You'll need to call Adobe.  We fellow users only see what you see on Adobe's web site.
Keep in mind that if you don't subscribe, you will NOT be able to get the latest software.  You can only buy a perpetual license for Photoshop CS6, which is growing more out of date each day.  There are actually substantial improvements in Photoshop CC - things like high quality true deconvolution in Smart Sharpen, detail-preserving upsampling, image straightening features in Camera Raw, new smart object features, greater use of the GPU to speed things up, etc.

  • How can I purchase an unlimited license for CS6 for small business use?

How can I purchase an unlimited license for CS6 for use by a small business? We need to be able to use CS6 tools on at least 6 different computers, both macs and PCs.
Do I have to purchase CS6 from another individual or business and transfer the license or is it still somehow available through Adobe? How can I determine how many users are allowed and the price of the product? Do I have to purchase the entire Creative Suite, or can I just purchase an unlimited license for Photoshop 6 only?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should contact Adobe support to get information on licensing mutliple machines.

Newer versions of Photoshop ships with Adobe Bridge for Organizing image files.  However your not required to use it.  You can also use LightRoom or system utilities like Windows File explorer and Mac Finder.  Photoshop itself uses System dialogs to access your file systems files.   When Photoshop display an Open or Save dialog to you in all probability its a Windows or Mac System dialog.  Photoshop versions may also have some internal Photoshop Dialogs programed by Adobe for accessing your systems file systems.

  • Does Cisco make a RELIABLE small business router?

Just as I asked, does Cisco make a RELIABLE small business router?  Common features required would be single or dual WAN, VLAN support (at least 4), multiple SSIDs, some measure of inter-VLAN routing (such as a shared printer in an office) and firewall.  A GUI interface is really a must for small business routers, but everything that has a GUI seems to either be terrible in terms of reliability and firmware, or be crippled by a lack of features (such as the InterVLAN Routing ON/OFF setting!)
From what I have seen there are several extremely unreliable options available (such as the RV220W & WRVS4400N), but nothing that is stable.  I am familiar with the Cisco 800 series routers and deployed these, but they take quite awhile to configure properly unless you have a template or a vast understanding of the CLI.  The lack of a true GUI and requirement to run a specific version of Java for the SDM to function makes them a pain for a SMALL business enviroment, but good for someone who has an IT department on staff.
Any options here, Cisco?  I would love to use your products on these smaller jobs as opposed to the Sonicwall and Watchguard brands, but I keep getting "pushed" back to them by issues with your products.

Common features required would be single or dual WAN, VLAN support (at least 4),
With a minimum of 4 VLANs, the 860 is out of the question as this model can support only 2 VLANs.   The 880 can support up to 8 VLANs.  Now both the 860 and the 880 has a 4-port, FastEthernet, layer-2 switch. The 890 can support up to 12 VLANs and have an 8-port, FastEthernet, layer-2 switch at the back.
Now all the models mentioned, 860, 880 and 890, can support PoE.  The 860, 880 and 890, can support 4-ports of PoE.
I've two vital questions for you.  They are:
    1.  Are you planning to integrate your wireless with your router?
    2.  What is your bandwidth?
If you plan to integrate a wireless access point with your router, you need to be mighty careful with this.  The reason is because of the potential location of the router in the premises.  Most of the time, the router is located in the far corner of a property and inside a metal box/cabinet.  For starters, the location is far (to very far) from the clients so the wireless signal is propagating to no one.  Next, if it's inside a box or a cabinet the metal shell of the cabinet can disrupt the way wireless propagates.
This is the reason why I mentioned the PoE option.  If the location is similar to what I've described, then it's better to get a router AND WAPs separate.  This way you can move the WAP to wherever your clients might be.
Next is your bandwidth.  What router to buy depends on what bandwidth you've got.

  • Can I use Skype for my business?

    Hi,
I have a SKype number and been using it for my business for a year already. Today I've received an email from Skype saying that I can't use Skype for commercial purpose. I'm confused because I've seen so many people saying that they use Skype for their business. Here's the message I've just received:
"We have noticed some prohibited usage of your subscription.
We will continue to monitor your account, your calling behavior and your overall activity using Skype. If the prohibited usage still continues, your subscription will be disconnected. You will no longer be able to use or purchase any of Skype’s paid-for products.
The suspension of your access to Skype paid-for products will be permanent and you will be unable to transfer any existing products to a new Skype account, or receive a refund. However, you will be able to continue to make Skype-to-Skype calls and send instant messages.
We remind you that Skype’s products are for personal, individual and non-commercial use only. Our Fair Usage Policy can be found within our term of uses. Our subscriptions cannot be shared or used for commercial gain, such as telemarketing or call centre operations"
Do I have to register for a business account or what? Or what should I do now? This number have been using as my business contact and I can't change it. Please help.

  • Licensing restrictions on RE-use of HP (small business) notebook HW components?

Licensing restrictions on RE-use of HP (small business) notebook HW components?
I realize that it is illegal to use some of the (OEM) software that was distributed with the refurbished HP nw8440 Mobile Pro Workstation (small business HP Compaq notebook) I bought (direct from HP) on a different computer system (than the one the software came with).
My question, though concerns the hardware (hard disk, keyboard, memory modules, speakers, mouse, etc.) components that came with it.
Specifically, is it legal for me to use such hardware components on a different computer system (than the one the software came with), or even to sell it, give it away, or dispose of it (separately from the HP computer system that it came with)?
The reason I ask is that one of the licensing agreements that came with the system said something like:
The initial user of the product may make a one-time transfer of the product to another end-user. ... The transfer may not be an indirect transfer, such as a consignment.
and I'm retiring this (Windows XP) computer, and am unfamiliar with such licensing terms.
I just started using its hard drive in an older desktop we have whose hard drive failed.
I believe that should be OK license-wise, but it made me wonder what restrictions, if any, I might have on other future uses of such hardware.
    Thank you.

P.S. - Please forgive me if this is not the right place to ask this question. I wasn't sure where to ask it.

  • Error when installing Lenovo solutions for small business [Screenie included]

    Hello everyone.
Recently, I tried opening the pre-installed Lenovo solutions for Small Business software on my Lenovo e530 running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit version (Upgraded from Win 7 Home Prem 64-bit) but failed after getting a message for encountering a critical problem of some sort. I then tried restarting my computer and that did not solve the problem. And then, I decided to install an upgrade version of it from this website http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS030146. But before that I uninstalled the previous version by uninstalling Intel Small Business advantage customizations with Revo Uninstaller and I deleted all the related folders too with a thorough scan. Out of my expection, I got this message below saying that I could not proceed due to some unspecified error. Has anyone encountered the same problem before? Does anyone have a solution for this? I'm not sure if that's my computer's problem or from the driver itself. Thank you for your attention to this issue.

    Hi, dougy
This should be configurable under msconfig. This is a program that you can use to tell your computer which programs you want to start when Windows starts. To get to this program, type msconfig into the search bar in the Start menu. A window should appear. Check under the Startup tab and make sure that the Lenovo Solutions for Small Business program does not have a checkmark next to it. This should prevent this program from starting up when your computer turns on.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Numbering Group G1 can be used only for one CoCd and cash journal number

    Hello,
I was trying to create a cash journal when I got the error message:
"Numbering Group G1 can be used only for one CoCd and cash journal number".
Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?
    Thank you,
    Bola

    Hi,
Please check whether more than one number range is maintained in  transaction code FBCJC1. If yes, please keep only one as Cash Journal has only one number range. This is the internal number range for Cash Journal.
If you want different number range for accounting documents then create new document types and assign number ranges to it.

  • What is the use of for all entries in select statement

what is the use of for all entries in select statement

    hi,
FOR ALL ENTRIES is an effective way of doing away with using JOIN on two tables.
You can check the below code -
    SELECT BUKRS BELNR GJAHR AUGDT
    FROM BSEG
    INTO TABLE I_BSEG
    WHERE BUKRS = ....
    SELECT BUKRS BELNR BLART BLDAT
    FROM BKPF
    INTO TABLE I_BKPF
    FOR ALL ENTRIES IN I_BSEG
    WHERE BUKRS = I_BSEG-BUKRS
    AND BELNR = I_BSEG-BELNR
    AND BLDAT IN SO_BLDAT.
    *******************************8
    look another example
what is the use of FOR ALL ENTRIES
    1. INNER JOIN
    DBTAB1 <----
    > DBTAB2
It is used to JOIN two DATABASE tables
    having some COMMON fields.
    2. Whereas
    For All Entries,
    DBTAB1 <----
    > ITAB1
is not at all related to two DATABASE tables.
It is related to INTERNAL table.
    3. If we want to fetch data
    from some DBTABLE1
    but we want to fetch
    for only some records
which are contained in some internal table,
then we use for alll entries.
    1. simple example of for all entries.
    2. NOTE THAT
    In for all entries,
it is NOT necessary to use TWO DBTABLES.
    (as against JOIN)
    3. use this program (just copy paste)
    it will fetch data
    from T001
FOR ONLY TWO COMPANIES (as mentioned in itab)
    4
    REPORT abc.
DATA : BEGIN OF itab OCCURS 0,
    bukrs LIKE t001-bukrs,
    END OF itab.
DATA : t001 LIKE TABLE OF t001 WITH HEADER LINE.
    itab-bukrs = '1000'.
    APPEND itab.
    itab-bukrs = '1100'.
    APPEND itab.
    SELECT * FROM t001
    INTO TABLE t001
    FOR ALL ENTRIES IN itab
    WHERE bukrs = itab-bukrs.
    LOOP AT t001.
    WRITE :/ t001-bukrs.
    ENDLOOP.
    Hope this helps!
    Regards,
    Anver

  • Need software to keep track of clients for small business.

We need some way to keep up with multiple types of payments for several hundred clients, as well as the ability to make notes as needed.  We have been using ical for our notes and a simple Numbers spreadsheet, but this method is cumbersome.  I have looked at various accounting programs, but they all seem much more complicated than I need.  Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I ran a small business, and there is no way I would have done it with iCal and Numbers.  Intuit's Quickbooks is the best program for small business.  Yes, it's probably got more than you need, but it helps pay bills, taxes, inventory, blah blah blah.  It's only $200.  They have an online version.  It links to your bank.  It links to tax software.  I can go on.  I used the enterprise version, and I'm not an accounting, and I found it a piece of cake to learn.
Since this is the forum for the Macbook Pro, you're really not going to find much info here.  Go to the Intuit Quickbooks website, and do a test run.  Trust me, if  you want to make a profit and pay bills on time, get a real program.  Quickbooks is one of the cheapest but still the best out there.
