What does "RAID configurations are not supported" really mean?

The Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide is light on details. I see you can't install Boot Camp on a software RAID created via Disk Utility or a hardware RAID created via the Mac Pro RAID card: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2855
Maybe this is a dumb question, but if I have three internal drives in a Mac Pro (SSD x 1, SATA x 2), and I stripe the two SATA drives in software RAID-0, any problem with partitioning up the non-RAID SSD drive and putting Boot Camp on it?
Thanks for any tips.

Windows can't mount a Mac file system.
RAID uses a totally different GPT and can't support Master Boot Record.
The Pro RAID card itself prevents installing Windows natively.
You can install Windows in a VM.
And I have for over 3 yrs advised most people to skip Apple's RAID card to begin with.
Of course you can use an SSD, but Apple's RAID card reroutes the drive connectors, so only if the SSD is using the optical bay connector.

  • What does 'init functions are not allowed in this objset' mean and how can it be fixed?

We have added some init functions to the beginning of the obj.conf file so that we can proxy off to Weblogic.
However when we try to run the Web server we get an error message 'init functions are not allowed in this objset'.
The syntax seems to be correct. Has anyone any idea how this can be fixed?

You are probably using iPlanet Web Server 6.0 or higher; starting with 6.0, the web server does not allow Init directives to appear on the obj.conf file. Instead, place your Init directives in the magnus.conf file.

  • SunFire V490: Exactly what features are "Not supported"?

Hello, I saw the system matrix state that "Not all features are supported for the Sun Fire V490 Server". Does anyone know exactly what features are, or are not supported on the V490?

I believe it is referring to the firmware management. The RSC systems have somewhat limited abilities within Ops Center.
From an OS perspective, all features would be supported - patching, provisioning, zone management, etc.

What is this HDR-HS7E - a miniDV camcorder that lets you do DV and HDV capture firewire?
True, the DV and HDV capture firewire into the Premiere Elements 13 Capture window is gone. But, have you
looked at the workaround suggested by PRE_help in this forum. The workaround is found in the following
    Adobe document....

  • HT5287 If DVD Movies, Audio CD's and even burning CD and DVD's are not supported, what is the point of DVD & CD Sharing then? Wouldn't it just be better to remote in or use a thumb drive if it's only able to be used for data transfer?

If DVD Movies, Audio CD's and even burning CD and DVD's are not supported, what is the point of DVD & CD Sharing then? Wouldn't it just be better to remote in or use a thumb drive if it's only able to be used for data transfer?
Or am I missing the bigger picture?

As long as you have a Superdrive or an external burner/drive, burning, watching, installing, etc. from CD or DVD will work just fine. And so will sharing.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repeatedly get this message:  "There was a problem connecting to the server.   URLs with the type "file:" are not supported.
    Why?
What can be done to eliminate it?

Open the Time Machine pane in System Preferences. If it shows that Time Machine is ON, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner, if necessary, to unlock it. Scroll to the bottom of the list of backup drives and click Add or Remove Backup Disk. Remove all the disks, then add them back. Quit System Preferences. Test.

  • Raid Utility Error Message "raid utility is not supported on this computer"

I am not doing anything that I know of, but Raid Utility keeps opening up on its own, and a message pops up multiple times a day telling me "raid utility is not supported on this computer"
Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Network startup is if you want to start your macbook using a network drive.
Keep your startup settings at your current drive.
Raid utility doesn't apply to you since you only have one hard drive installed, unless you installed another hard drive in your optical bay.
Fibre Channel is another type of hard drive connection via network connection.
You can't access things you don't have installed in your macbook.  Those are there in case you decide to have a network drive start up options, a raid configuration of a fibre channel network drive.

  • BBPGETVD - error:backend systems with release 700 are not supported

    Hi,
When I am trying to replicate vendor data from EEC to crm 4.0 via BBPGETVD.
I get the error message"backend systems with release 700 are not supported"
Is anyone have Idea what is wrong? and how can fix it?
    Thanks,
    Rachel

    Yossi,
I believe that standard transaction does not work with ECC 6.0.  The standard response would be to upgrade your CRM system to 5.0 so that you can download vendors from ECC 6.0.
Bascially the vendor replication programs in CRM below 5.0 aren't really that reliable for delta downloads(one error will cause an entire load to fail).  So you probably at best should copy the SAP standards to generate custom load programs as a starting point.
It is not too difficult and overcomes some of the restrictions that SAP puts in place(i.e. you can only use one number range for vendors downloaded, etc.).  This is definitely one of the weak points of CRM 4.0 that was fixed in CRM 5.0.
If you have more questions on this let me know.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • Secure SIP lines are not supported on the CME

    Hi,
I was looking for the configuration of Secure SIP lines on the CME and found in the link bellow that "Secure SIP lines are not supported on the Cisco Unified CME mode", only Secure SCCP lines is supported:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmeadm/cmeauth.html
In my opinion, security is an important subject nowadays and SIP is what Cisco is investing more and more ... it's awkward that Secure SIP lines is not supported on the CME.
Does anyone knows if this will be implemented in future versions of CME?
    Thanks.

Just to described the answer that I received from Cisco ... there is a roadmap for FY16.
    Regards.

  • Help! Some features of Mac OS X Mavericks are not supported for the disk "Macintosh HD"

I'm on a MacBook 13" mid 2010, OS X 10.7.5, I want to upgrade to OS X Mavericks. I have searched around for a few days, I find people with the same problem but can't really get the solution for it. I prefer not to reinstall OS X, I want to upgrade. I don't have boot camp or something just a 250 GB HD.
Well, while I'm trying to upgrade from the download from Apps Store, I open the installer, press continue then accepts the Terms.. then select Macintosh HD and click install, then an warning message shows up "Some features of Mac OS X Mavericks are not supported for the disk "Macintosh HD"
As I've read the article that is included in the waring message i did try to install anyway because it say that I would be fine, but when i did try to install the installer starts and after like 3 minutes a window appears, Install Failed.
I've even try to make a installer on USB, both with the command in terminal and with Diskmaker, but it does not help.
It seems impossible to upgrade. Please Help me.

First, see the heading "What to do if the installer warns that no Recovery System can be created" in this support article. If you use Boot Camp, back up and delete the Windows partition using Boot Camp Assistant. Try the installation again.

  • Error message: "FireWire connections are not supported.  To transfer songs"

I recently purchased a Monster iCarPlay to play my ipod in my car. I have had no problems until recently. Upon disconnecting my ipod from the iCarPlay wire, I the following message popped up: "FireWire connections are not supported. To transfer songs, connect the USB cable provided." It also prompts me to click the center button to dismiss the message. However, I'vd followed these instructions, and the message does not go away. Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this problem? Or is it anything to worry about?

That is the message you see when you attach a 5th gen iPod to a computer using FIREWIRE. so... i suspect that for some reason, the 3rd party iCarPlay device must be confusing the iPod into thinking it is being docked or attached to a data line of some type and not simply charging.
As for the sudden occurrence of the message, it does seem strange however, keep in mind that you are using a 3rd party device that may not be supported or endorsed by Apple at all.
