What does SHARED mean in Finder ?
Where are you seeing "Shared" in the Finder?
Are you referring to the section in the Sidebar of the Finder window?
That section will show you files on connected servers and "Public" folders of other users on other connected Macs. You can make your own "Public" folder visible in this way by enabling "File Sharing" in the "System Preferences > Sharing" panel.

What does it mean?It means that the computer you see under "Shared" is connected to the same network as your Mac. Nothing to worry about, so ignore it. Note that you can also see peripherals under "Shared", like some wireless printers...

I don't want to be "sharing" anything with people I don't even know.It means two of your neighbors also have a wireless network. They cannot access your computer unless you give them your userid and password.
Go ahead and try to access their computers. Unless they have guest sharing turned on, usually to share photos with family and friends, you will not be able to access their computers.
I’m on a university network and have hundreds of names in the Shared section of my sidebar, but do not have access to their computers, nor theirs to mine. -
when I try to upload the latest version of iTunes, it tells me to enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package iTunes.msi. What does this mean as I can't seem to find any such folder and now I cannot uninstall Itunes either

'Device sharing same IP address as your computer' - what does this mean?
I purchased an Airport Express yesterday and was having connection problems after setting it up to only join my existing network (to play wireless audio to speakers in the kitchen) - I seem to have solved the issue by switching off WPS on my base station (provided by my ISP)
My question is: after making this change to the settings, I got a message saying 'this device' (presumably meaning the Airport Express) was now sharing the same IP address as my MacBook Pro.
What does this mean, and will there be any detrimental effects?Thanks BTF. Presumably only my MacBook Pro and the Apple TV are connected to the internet as the Airport Express is only set up to join the existing network with the crappy router as the base station. Neither the ATV or AE have static IPs assigned.
I have since restarted my MacBook Pro and at present have Airplay audio streaming to the AE and video to the ATV simultaneously without any (at the moment) problems. -

I had to get a new ipod....they said I just needed to plug it in and sync to my itunes.. I get an error 1413 when I try to follow the instructions to restore. I can't find any information on error 1413, what does this mean?
Now it keeps saying that it is restored but there is still no music or video on it. And a new error is coming up that says "We could not complete your iTunes store request.The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

it means the phone is online but the locational services have been disabled.

settings>locational services>find my iphone>on
find my iphone is the last option in locational services. -

The battery is dead
The phone has been turned off
The phone is no longer connected to the cellular network or a WiFi network
The Find my iPhone service has been turned off
The phone has been wiped.
The bottom line is, it means you're probably never going to be able to locate it unless you can physically find it. -

IOS 4 do not have Settings>General>Software Update.
You have to connect your iPad to iTune (computer) and Check for Updates.
Backup before you proceed with update.
