What does siri really able to do??

what all is siri actually able to do? How do you put live wallpapers on the phone? that are worth something? How or can you change the look of each screen on all the screens?

3. You can change the wallpaper on the home screen and locked screen, however you cannot change the wallpaper for each individual screen.

What does 'Usage' really measure?

I just completed 2 experiments. Both cases I let a fully charged phone sit unused while I slept and checked it in the morning. One time had WiFi enabled, the other had WiFi off.
With WiFi on, the phone logged 2hrs 33mins of 'usage' during 7 hours of standby while I slept.
With the WiFi off, the phone logged 1hr 10 mins of usage during 7 hours of standby while I slept.
I have this intermitten problem where the phone 'turns itself on.' That is, the 'slide to unlock' screen is displayed when I don't touch the phone. This is intermitten, and sometimes is like a 1/10 Hz stobe for 5 mins, and sometime doesn't do it for an hour (and so, I can't convince a 'Genius' that anything is wrong). This is a 5 week old phone in pristine condition. I noticed these symptons about 10 days ago.
What's going on here? What does usage really measure? Can it be measuring the amount of time the phone has turned itself on, or something else entirely?

Thanks for the comments. I do not have any auto-checking enabled for my email, I always check manually. I'm not sure of any other background tasks that could be happening.
I do find it interesting that somebody else has seen the screen 'wake up' without touching their phone. I'm not sure, but this maybe happened with that latest rev - or whatever is broken seems to have happened at the same time. What I noticed first was shortened battery life, then the screen flashes, then the unexplained 'usage' time. Maybe I should try going back to 1.1.2 (but I love the home screen customization feature, I have traffic and weather radar with one button push!)
I hope this is a bug that can/will be fixed and not a hardware error. I'll keep observing.

Disk Utility - Erase Free Space-what does it really do?

Hey Forum,
I am using mac os 10.6.4 on my macbook and i have a doubting question for quite sometimes, what does disk utility erase free space feature really do? Does it gives you more free space? or what? I know it prevents the recovery of deleted files but i want to know what more it does and do not do? Like, now my hdd free space kept increasing and decreasing, by a few 100 mbs or 50mbs etc, so do i erase free space so to solve this problem? Ok, i do not only want to know does it solve the previous problem, but also the questions stated in the whole long paragraph i have wrote. If you know anything related to disk utility's erase free space, feel free to tell me!

Erase free space simply writes zeros over the space occupied by deleted files to prevent data recovery. That's all it does. It does not give you extra disk space.
Your disk space goes up and down a bit because the system creates temporary files and logs which take up space, such as the Safari cache. You can clear these file using a utility like Onyx (which is free)

COPA Acronym - What does it really mean???

I have a very simple question that has been often addressed to me for which I truly can't provide a bona-fide answer to. That question is "What does the acronym CO-PA actually stand for"?
I know the universally accepted response would be Profitability Analysis but what does the CO portion of the acronym really stand for? Is it Cost/Operability or Cost of Operations or what????

CO stands for Controlling and PA stands for Profitability Analyis. So the combination of CO-PA stands for Controlling-Profitability Analysis.
Profitability Analysis is one of the sub-modules, along with Cost Center Accounting (CCA) and others, that's part of the Controlling module in R3/ECC. Controlling is pretty much Managerial Accounting (as opposed to FI - Financials which is Financial Accounting).

Mdworker deny file-read-data, what does it really mean?

I get numerous log posts like this:

My questiions are:
What is being sandboxed, the mdworker or the file Times LTMM or the mdimporter?
Which one has the sudo command in it?
What does the -t flag/option mean? Looking it up via man mdutil in the terminal, it does't exist.
I saw this type of post quite frequently in Mavericks so much so that I decided to start over from scratch. I wiped the HD including the HD Recovery partition and installed OS X 10.6.8. I am now in Mountain Lion and have reinstalled MS Office 2011 and loaded the main identity data from my recovered files. I did not see any adverse log posts until I ran the first time machine backup.
I hope someone can clear the air for me with perhaps a way to fix it.

Thank you Baltwo. It's a major relief to know that the sudo command is being used by an Apple app/process and not by a file that's not supposed to have it.. However a few more questions if you don't mind.
Is the font file the suspect file or is it this particular mdworker?
If the font file is the suspect file will a process or app that calls for it be allowed to use it?
Which process/app/file invoked the sandbox and deny file-read-data?
What is the role of the mdimporter?
These questions are part of my attempt to understand how a large part of the files on my computer and Time Machine become corrupted when I first installed Mavericks. Mainly .plist (and other plain text files), .png, jpeg (and other picture types) and pkg info bundles would have thier icons and file Kind changed to Unix Executable files, spreadssheets and doc/docx would become genrandom (or something similar). I became aware of this when my machine began freezing up. I made several clean reinstalls and the problems would reoccur on plugging in the Time Machine. I eventually recovered the files I wanted from the Time Machine but I had to use another iMac with an older OS X. I repartitioned my machine and rebuilt it to Mountain Lion and i'm in the process of reloading with what I hope are non corrupted files. Although I still see log posts like "Locum[6230]: Connection with distnoted server was invalidated" every time I paste a folder or file. I don't know what that means but it doesn't seem to cause any further reaction or posts.

What does it really do...

While replacing the DC inboard on one of the iBooks, I lost one of the springs in the battery compartment. It was last night, and my memory is going so I can't quite remember what I was doing when it shot off. But it bizarrely shot off, across the room, into the only trash barrel that was full (out of three). I slowly walked over to find that there is no way possible that I would find that spring again. This iBook was bought in October or November 2003, which has had some power problems in the past (I have 4 iBook G4s, only one had a power problem due to clumsy children). The battery does work, as well as the new DC inboard, but will this spring cause problems with connection. I could get one from a colleague, but I'd rather not. Will this bazar incident cause any connection problems in the future? The reason I post this is, I don't use it even though I own it.

The new iPad says Siri ready? Does it mean a mere update will maki a full Siri like the iPhone ?

I heard it does not have the chip that enables Siri to work as opposed to the iPhone 4S.
The chip controls the IR sensor to distinguish how far is your mouth from the mic, and other features to understand your speech better, thats why Siri is the best

Lets say I have a static method, is that mean that all items (variables and calls) inside it are assumed to be static as well?

Any statement or expression inside the static method is said to "occur in a static context". In such a method - like the traditional main() method - only static members and methods can be used.

Basically, it's an incremental, hourly backup application (you provide the HD). After the first backup, it only backs up new/revised data (plus some overhead), so it takes up much less space than all separate backups. Some reading for you:

Registering class - what does it mean?

In one book dealing with JDBC there's statement like: "Whenever a driver is loaded into memory
Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver")
it is registered as an available driver with the
java.sql.DriverManager
class".
I have to say that I'm not newbie in database/JDBC programming and that I already created dozens of programs and web applications working with databases using DriverManager/DataSource approaches but now I'd like to understand what's really going on in the background with driver class.
When you say "driver is registered" what does it really mean; what is registered and where?, how it is registered?, is it registered somewhere as ActiveX/COM component in Windows registry?

There has been lot of confusion in people who try to get deep into what the books are telling. let me tell you what i could understand from analysing the informations and specifications ....
when u call Class.forName with the driver class as the argument.., u instantiate a class of the driver.. like org.gjit.mm.mysql.Driver.. This class will contain some mechanism.., usually a static method that will call the java.sql.DriverManager.registerDriver(DriverClass) method.. this method needs the driver class as argument.. u can see it in the java sdk source code..
The DriverManager now gets a handle to the driver class instance and whatit does can be seen from the foll. code ..in the java.sql.DriverManager class...

What does the Smart Cover do? Shut it off or just standby as the lock button?
