What does the "complex" button do in the side menu ? Flex time menu

hello
can anyone please advise me what the "COMPLEX" button does ?

http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/10/#lgcpa77a4a3f
Look under Polyphonic in the list.
What it means: Straight Polyphonic would be for a single instrument playing chords. ie: guitar, keyboard, voices...etc.   The Complex setting would be for a mixture of instruments.

  • What DOES the default menu do?

    Hi,
Scenario: sqlplus on scott/tiger schema and a 9i form running and linked
    to the EMP table.
User on the form queries Blake's record and changes their salary by one unit
(forms locks the record as the change takes place).
Nip across to SQLplus and type in an UPDATE statement to set Blake's
salary to zero (hangs on the lock).
Back into the form: decide to ditch the change of Blake's salary by choosing
Block->Clear from the menu (screen gets wiped).
Back to sqlplus: no update on the sqlplus window (still hanging I guess on
    the lock).
Back to the form - choose Action->Clear All and this allows sqlplus to
    work again.
Question1: what does "Action->Clear All" do (if it just invokes a built-in where
can I read words like "this calls clear_form(NO_COMMIT)" ?)
    Question2: why didn't Block->Clear discard the lock?
I kindof think that there's something obvious I am missing, but am willing to
sacrifice my pride for a good answer.
    Thanks in advance
    Mungo Henning :-)

    Hi Kranthi,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Hello
The Clear All item in the default menu is
functionally equivalent to executing the CLEAR_FORM
    M procedure with default parameters:
    CLEAR_FORM(ask_commit, to_savepoint);
The block clear menu option removes all records from,
or flushes the current block. You haven't said whether the block clear menu option calls "CLEAR_BLOCK".
So what does it do with uncommitted changes - ask or ignore?
    >
Refer to the online help for more details That's the overwhelming issue: I have gone to the on-line manual but I find
it infuriating when it lacks vital details. I will happily stand corrected if someone
can list some keywords or a web URL for the exact page I ought to be reading
So I politely request that you indulge me: where in the manual does it discuss
the functionality of the default menu in exact terms?
    Thanks again
    Mungo

Also, I see a lot of preferences that have lists that look like the following when I search the preferences files
What I am curious about is why all the unknown documents and the ~orig?
I am far from an expert but I have never seen this before and wonder if I should do something.
Generally it is not a good idea to be poking around in the System Folder, trying to second guess files and plist. There are literally 1000's of files  in your System Folder you will have no idea why they are there.
If you want to do house keeping stick to your username folder. Therefore any damage done is limited to your user account.

Did you try >SystemPreferences>EnergySaver.  Make configuration changes here.

  • HT2729 what does the "other" category consist of when syncing iPhone

what does the "other" category consist of when syncing iPhone

"Other" data is real data that you put on your phone by using the built in apps. It is not music, not videos, not pictures and not App Store app data. It is "OTHER" meaning everything that does not fall into these categories. Such as:
    email messages and attachments
    Reminders
    Calendar entries
    Contacts
    Text messages
    iMessages
    MMS messages and attachments
    Genius data
    Music cover art
Music library database index (but not the music itself)
    Operating system settings
    Safari cache
    bookmarks
    Game Center status
    Music catalog
You will find posts from people who said they recovered over 3 GB of space by just deleting old text messages.
If you want Other to be smaller you will have to keep less data on your phone; delete old MMS and texts, delete old email (especially from the "deleted" folder), clear the cache, eliminate cover art.
Sometimes "Other" includes data corruption. If you suspect this is a possibility try connecting to iTunes and click the Restore iPhone button. First restore from backup; the Other doesn't get any smaller you can Restore again and set up as New, then add your content back separately from your backup.

  • What does the folder with a question mark mean?

When I power on my black Macbook a white screen appears with a folder with a question mark flashing. what does the folder with a question mark mean? I just replaced the hard drive. When I put the install disc in the cd drive makes a very loud whirring noise then eventually the disc pops back out. Any ideas?

    You will need to reinstall:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • What does the apple sign mean when sometimes it shows ?

What does the apple logo mean when sometimes i turn it on it just pops up and goes back to normal??

    Ayip,
The Apple logo appearing on your iPod nano is your nano's start-up icon. Normally, when you turn off your iPod nano, you are really putting it into a deep or semi-deep sleep, where it is ready to turn on at the push of a button and resume where you left off in your Now Playing list.
If, however, you leave your iPod in a sleep mode for some time , it will shut down. To turn it on again, you'll need to hit the center button (deep and semi-deep will wake up with any button press). When turning the iPod on from a shut down state, it will display the Apple logo while loading your music iPod software.
    Hope this helps!
    Sincerely,
    -FD

  • What does the sign mean next to the battery: a with lock with a circle, but the I phone is unlocked

What does the sign mean next to the battery: a with lock with a circle, but the I phone is unlocked

    Orientation lock.  From http://www.apple.com/iphone/tips/
    Lock the screen orientation.
Double-click the Home button to bring up the multitasking interface, then swipe from left to right. Now tap the portrait orientation lock once to turn it on and again to turn it off.

  • What does the argument do here?

In a code snippet shown below regarding handling the button action in the example: FileChooserDemo.java from Sun, what does the argument between parentheses do?
    int returnValue = fc.showOpenDialog(FileChooserDemo.this);Thanks.

The API will help you here. It's likely the parent component. It's quite common to pass parent components to dialog constructors to allow the dialog to be related to the parent component (for e.g. have a modal relationship).

  • What does the yellow triangle mean on a mx439 printer

What does the lighted yellow lite (triangle) on a mx439 printer mean?

    Hi zone88,
The yellow triangle on the printer is the alarm lamp of the printer; if it is lit, it indicates that there is an item that needs to be addressed on the printer.  Are there any error codes or messages displaying on the printer?

What does the icon next to the left of thelocation icon mean and to the right of the time? It has a lock with an arrow circling it. Thanks

It's the portrait orientation lock.  When on, and that icon showing, the screen won't rotate to landscape view when you rotate the phone.
To turn it off - double click the home button to show the recently opened apps bar, slide it to the right showing the iPod controls and the Portrait Orientation Lock on the left.

What does the (MM) on the end of a model mean?

It's the screen orientation lock. It prevents the screen from switching between portrait and landscape views when you turn the iPod.
To engage or disengage this feature, double click the home button. This will bring up the multitasking tray. Swipe all the way to the left until you see the iPod controls, then tap the gray icon with the lock on it. This will toggle the feature on and off.

Constantly, while using Firefox (Beta v 11.0), and/or ESPECIALLY, when I have my eMail @ Mail.com open, I get this PopUp stating: "For security reasons, restarting mail.com Mail is possible only via the mail.com Mail Service. I have no idea if Checking this Box is a Good Idea or if it will Screw-Up my mail.com Mail Service...
Anyone have an answer or explanation of the Use of this Little Check-Box?

You do not get any pop-up windows on that website if you tick that box.
That setting is stored in the cache and you should see pop-ups again if you reload the page and bypass the cache.
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.

  • What does the system recover kit entail?

I dropped my wife's HP pavillion dv4i notebook, and afterwords had to replace the HDD.  The Notebook did not come with a recovery disk to reinstall all the software it came with.  I did the USB tool to reinstall the correct verions of windows 7 but I don't have a valid Windows product key.  the sticker on the bottom with the key is now unreadable.  I put the damaged HDD in a external case and am attempting to read the key without any luck.
What does the system recovery kit for consumer notebooks come with besides drivers?  would this contain a new product key?
    This question was solved.

The Recovery kit installs Windows and all original drivers/software. Yes it includes an activation.
