What does the icon with the Box with a Down Arrow do?

When I open certain messages, at the bottom toolbar instead of a trash can icon I get an icon that looks like a moving box with a arrow pointing down. When I have accidentally pressed it the message disappears. I cant find it in any folder or location? Any ideas what happens to the emails?

I noticed this new icon appeared after the latest iPhone IOS4 update. From my experience, clicking on that icon throws the email into the "filters" I've created in Gmail on my desktop computer. I'm not sure how it would respond if I didn't have a filter for a particular email. I think another forum user mentioned it gets dumped in the "all mail" folder. Not sure how that would be helpful. If someone from Apple could give us the textbook definition of this new icon and it's use, I'd appreciate it.

    Hi,
The Peer-to-Peer Blocking feature blocks communication between each two clients on the same WLC (option drop). If you want to extend blocking over your whole WLAN then choose forward upstream and let the central switch decide (configure Private VLANs there: let the client VLANs be isolated and the upstream port promiscuous).

I am having trouble with my itunes account because some of my song will not let me play them because they have an icloud icon with a down arrow in the middle and whenever I click on the song to play it a message pops up and says "You must authorize this computer before you can download the previous purchase". what does that mean and how do i fix it?

The iCloud icon is used to re-download your already purchased content from iTunes
To authorize your PC click Store in the Menu Bar and then Authorize This Computer
Note: If using iTunes 11 press Alt or Ctrl+B to show the Menu Bar

  • What does the icon with the red circle with a square inside (much like a power button) mean?

I've copied much of my home CD collection to iTunes but some of the albums will not play.  They are shown in my libraries but when opened each song in the album has a redcircle with a square inside icon displayed.  When I go to play an album with the red icons listed next to each song the app quickly scans through the list of songs - no audio and that's it.
What does this icon mean?  And how can I correct the problem?

What does the icon next to the left of thelocation icon mean and to the right of the time? It has a lock with an arrow circling it. Thanks

It's the portrait orientation lock.  When on, and that icon showing, the screen won't rotate to landscape view when you rotate the phone.
To turn it off - double click the home button to show the recently opened apps bar, slide it to the right showing the iPod controls and the Portrait Orientation Lock on the left.

Checkout the software vendor's website for updates:

what does the cloud with downward arrow mean when trying to download a game from app store?

    Hey there ArmidaKers,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
This article provides information about accessing your past purchases from iTunes in the Cloud, and it should answer your question about the download icon that you’re seeing when browsing the App Store on your iPad.

  • In Numbers, I can see my documents but they have the top right corner turned over with a down arrow, what does that mean?

In Numbers, I can see my documents but they have the top right corner turned over with a down arrow, what does that mean? I touch it and nothing happens.
I have recently done a full restore because my iPad and iPhone were mis-behaving and wouldn't work they way I expected with Windows XP and Outlook 2003 and now when I check iCloud.com, all my documents are gone, yet my iPad hints that they may still be somewhere but where are they?

That is the orientation lock symbol, you can not go to landscape orientation. Tap the home button twice, swipe the task bar to the right, tap on the 'circle' icon at the left to unlock the orientation. You will then be able to view items in portrait and landscape mode.

  • What does the faded music with a dotted circle beside it mean in the on this iPhone tab

what does the faded music with a dotted circle beside it mean in the "on this iPhone" tab on itunes? Some even shw up twice, others once.

    Hi sjchr,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The red square with a red circle around it is a symbol for a download in progress.
Songs that have a cloud symbol beside them have been purchased, but don't reside on your device.
When you click on the cloud icon, the song will be downloaded to the device, and you see a red square with a circle moving around.  If you wanted to stop the download, you would tap on the red square.
Sometimes there may be an issue with the download, or the file may be corrupt.
If the song is not playing correctly, the first thing I would suggest is to restart / reset your device:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the issue persists, you may need to redownload the song.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • What is the box with the down arrow in email.

What is the box with the down arrow in the email.  it is at the top near the reply arrow.

OKAY....are you guys ready for the answer to this question: "What is the box with down arrow in it in my iPad email?".
This drove me nuts but I stuck with until I figured it out.
When you open a message in iPad, sometimes you'll see a box with a down arrow. Touch it...and your email disappears!!!
    Where does it go?
Lay down your iPad and go to your computer...you CANNOT access the Archive folder from your iPad!
    1) Go check your gmail account from your computer. When you click on a message, look in the top row of 'choices' in what to do with that emai: back to inbox, ARCHIVE(a box with a down arrow), report spam, delete, move to, labels, and more are your choices.
    2) now look in the left hand column and you'll see: Inbox, starred, Important, Sent Mail, Drafts, Notes, Personal, Travel...now mouse over Travel (or whatever your last item is in the column) and "More" will appear.
    3) Click on 'More' and "All Mail" will appear.
    4) Click on "All Mail" and voila!!! All of those messages that have been disappearing from your iPad are found there.
    5) NOW FINALLY, you can click on each message in the "All Mail" folder and you have the option to move them to any folder you wish.
    6) UNDERSTAND THIS: You CANNOT access the 'All Mail' folder from your iPad...you MUST use your computer.
Hope that helps all of you who were as frustrated as me.
Ya think Apple would write something about this somewhere!!

  • I was playing with my ipad settings (it's an older model) and noted in the advanced settings of Safari there was a place to view website databases.  When I clicked on this I saw websites.  How do these get there and what does the space amount mean?

I was playing with my ipad settings and noted in he advanced settings of Safari there was a place to view "website databases".  When I selected this I saw a multitude of websites.
Can anyone tell me how these get there?  Can a website be posted even if it was never went to?  What does the space amount mean?  For example, 1.5 kb...is this quite a bit?  Would it indicate someone has gone to a site multiple times?
I share my ipad with my teenage daughter and I'm trying to find out if she's lying to me.  Obviously she's swearing that she has "no idea" how these got there and I'm trying to keep her safe (she's only 14).
    Thanks everyone.
    Concerned Mom

Think of your PC and the 'temporary internet folder' where it keeps cached copies of web pages or elements off a web page for 'quicker display the next time you visit'. That's pretty much what that folder is. 1.5K is tiny. Probably just a basic page with some text on it. (you might be confusing 1.5K with 1.5 megabyte....megabyte is large...it's roughly 1000 kilobytes, so the 1.5K is a tiny file)
As far as I know, the only way info gets into that folder is if the browser has been to that site.
if you have a concern there are browsers out there, McGruff is one i've seen recommended, that allow some degree of parental control and supervision. That or you could passcode lock the iPad or enable the restrictions to turn off some parts of the device to have some control.
