What does the ! mean in iTunes?

Until my last podcast, I was getting 400-500 downloads a podcast. Now all of a sudden it's seems to be sticking at 75. I'm #24 in iTunes for my category, so I'm super confused.
I did try to change where I was listed -- from arts/design to games and hobbies/hobbies, but changed it back.
Nothing has really changed about my show, I'm getting more feedback than ever, does anyone have an idea? When I look at my podcast there is a ! next to it, and I don't know what that means.... I'm hosted by Libsyn.
Thanks!

In ITunes...Help...search, entering "exclamation point" has these results (actual topic is "Understanding symbols in ITunes"):
exclamation point next to song
The song can't be located; it may have been moved or deleted
exclamation point next to Smart Playlist
One of the conditions is an unavailable playlist; click the exclamation point to choose another playlist or remove the unavailable one
Hope this helps

What does this mean on iTunes "An update to the carrier settings for our iPhone is available. Would you like to download it now?" Should I allow it?

It means that an update to your carrier settings is available!
    Yes,  you should allow it.

  • What does it mean on itunes when it says a movie will not be available on the cloud after purchase?

what does it mean on itunes when it says a movie will not be available on the cloud after purchase?

It means that you get only one download of the movie per purchase, so once it's downloaded, you'd be wise to make a backup. Otherwise, if something happens to delete the movie, you'll have to buy it again.

  • What does it mean when itunes requires 10.6.8?

what does it mean when itunes requires 10.6.8?
I accidently deleted my friend's itunes and it will not let me download it

If the computer is running Mac OS X 10.5.8, you cannot install the most recent version of iTunes. You will have to download iTunes 10.6.3, the last version that will run on a Mac OS X 10.5.8 system:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1575
To reinstall Microsoft Word, you will need to use the installer disk for Microsoft Office. To reinstall PhotoBooth, you would need to reinstall Mac OS X itself.
I presume you looked in the Trash on the computer, though, to see if the things you believe you deleted are perhaps still there? If they are, just drag them back to the Applications folder.
    Regards.

  • Red circle with red square inside- what does it mean in iTunes next to songs?

I can't play songs on iTunes that have a red circle with a small red square inside it. What does the symbol mean and how do I get rid of it. I have one iPad 2, one iPhone 5 and one ip[hone 6 plus bit only one iTunes account and one computer where all the songs are stored. The same song will play on the phones but not the iPad!! I really don't want to keep upgrading the software cos really it just creates more problems!!

! = iTunes cannot find the file that contains the media associated with the entry in the iTunes database.  iTunes itself does not contain your music, it just uses a reference to play a file on your computer.  Something happened to break that link.  Many reasons. Your computer may be having directory problems (directory = computer's database of what files it thinks are on the drive).  You may have renamed a folder or file  or moved a folder or file related to iTunes.
When you try to play the file iTunes will ask you if you want to associate a file with that entry.  You can answer yes and look for the file that you think it should play.  If the file is truly missing then you have bigger worries because who knows what else could be missing - the whole reason for computer backups and periodic maintenance.

  • What does it mean when iTunes say "not enough memory" and won't let me buy songs?

Everytime I try to purchase a song, I get a message that says "The iTunes store cannot complete your request. There is not enough memory available." I have plenty of space on my computer. What does this mean, and how do I fix it?

You need to do as the message says and contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

What does it mean? Every "control autobackup" will produce such error file in udump.

I think I need more investigation about this. I found two papers last night:
    http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/linux390/perf/tuning_rec_database_OracleRec.html
    http://www.netapp.com/library/tr/3408.pdf
with a previous online paper mentioning to alter the maxservers of aio0. Although this is an alternative, I tried to increase the value to 300 (500 at this moment) and it does not seem to work. On other hand, with change of the disk_asynch_io, it will hinder the exp/imp pump. So I really don´t know what to say.
Apparently the disk_asynch_io needs to be FALSE in order to speed up the backup. just verified again, even with my maxserver=500 did not help.

Use the expdp to dump my db with the asynch_io in FALSE. It looks OK, no delay.

  • What does the "+" mean?

For a free app (and maybe on ones you pay for too) sometimes there is a "+" in the upper left corner of where it says free. What does this mean?

That means the app is designed for both iphone & ipad.

  • What does ! mean in itunes library listing?

I have updated my itunes version and really messed things up. All of my itunes songs have an exclamation mark in front of them and when I click on the song an error messages advises that the song cannot be found. However the song does indeed exist and can be played from windows explorer by clicking on it, at which time itunes pops up as the default media player and removes the exclamation mark. It also makes a duplicate listing of the song.
    dell   Windows XP Pro

It means that iTunes doesn't know wer the file has gone, it mite have moved or been deleted, so basically it's tellin u that it doesnt know wer it is. You can add all your songs agen to the library or tell iTunes where the file is.

  • What does this mean when iTUNES says this...

"Songs on the iPOD cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist."

When the iTunes library is larger than the iPod, iTunes creates a playlist at random that fits.
    You deleted this playlist.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click the Music tab.
Select the playlists you want on the iPod.

  • What does the message 'contact iTunes support to complete your transaction' mean when downloading fails?

My video download starts after accepting my iTunes password. One second later ist stops giving the message that I should contact support to complete the transaction. Two days ago I successfully downloaded a movie without any difficulties.

  • What does this mean? iTunes cannot sync photos to the iPhone because you do not have write access to the folder "iChat Icons"

Can anyone help me please? My iphone originally was linked to my PC. I downloaded over 3,000 pictures from my PC to my iphone. Since then my PC broke and now I have a macbook pro and the macbook doesn't recognize all the pictures from my pc. I get the following message.
-iTunes cannot sync photos to the iPhone "Daniel's iPhone" because you do not have write access to the folder "iChat Icons".

    Hi,
I picked up on this Post as I was searching for "iChat" in non iChat places.
A Mac will contain a Folder for "iChat Icons"
It is kept in Hard Drive/System/Library/Application Support/iChat icons
There are about 9 sub folders here including Planets, Guitars, Feng Shui and so on.
They are normally accessed in iChat to be your Own Buddy pic.
They way you have phrased your posts suggests you have a folder on your phone called "iChat icons" which may have been created by the PC.
For people who know more about iTunes than I do to help will need to know where this Folder is exactly.

  • What does it mean, in iTunes, "your contacts are being synced with Microsoft Exchange over the air"?

    Hello,
I'm trying to sync the contacts on my iPhone 5 with my contacts on my Mac Book Air (merge them), I'm also using Outlook (Microsoft) to manage my email account and my contacts.  I used to sync my contacts from my previous iPhone (4S) with my contacts on my Mac and also with contacts on Outlook.
Now that I have iPhone 5 I missed that sync (iPhone-Mac-Outlook), so I figure it out that in iTunes there is this message: "your contacts are being synced with Microsoft Exchange over the air. Your contacts will also sync directly with this computer. This may result in duplicated data showing on your device"
Every contact created on iPhone doesn't sync with my Mac or Outlook.
How should I configure my iphone and my mac to sync properly??
    Thanks a lot!
    Kind Regards,

Not surprisingly there have been no answers to this question because the only person who knows how to use iTunes/iCloud/iPhone is too busy.

  • What does "Shared" mean in itunes

I see the "shared'' in my itunes with the libraries of others around me. When i click on 1 of libraries it just shows me what
another person had in their iTunes. Is another purpose to this that I'm not getting??

This means that the person has enabled Home Sharing on their iTunes. People usually use Home Sharing to transfer their purchases from one iTunes library to another computer's iTunes library. Just disregard it if it's not yours.
