What does the power adaptor look like?

Did Apple make any changes to the power adaptor? Is it thinner too? I am waiting a month or two for the 1.6 MBA regardless of changes.

The Mag-safe connector is physically the same. A MBP or MB adapter will physically and electronically work with the MBA. However, since the MBA's port is facing down, you will need to account for this when using an MBp or MB adapter, either by charging the MBA upside down or some other fashion.
the physical size of the MBA adapter looks smaller than the MB adapter, but this will still be unanswered until someone can compare them in person.
The power output for the different adapters are:
MBA: 45 watt
MB: 60 watt
MBP: 85 watt
You can use an MB adapter to charge an MBP, but the battery will charge very slowly.
You can use the MBP adapter to charge a MB. It will not send the full 85 watts.
Apple can not warrant or guarantee no problems when using a different adapter than intended so do this at your own risk.

    Hi @royboy1952
    THe WEP/WPA code can be a combination of letters and numbers or one or the other. Use the following link if you have a Windows operating system;

  • What does the upgrade process look like? Black screen after a few minutes o

    Hello,
I just received a new Macbook Pro. I turned it on for the very first time, entered in my name and password, etc. Then I inserted the SL upgrade diskd circular arrow, then black screen again.. It started up, I acknowledged the license agreement, it said it would take 56 minutes to install. So I walked away. Came back ten minutes later to a blank screen. It would not respond to swipe or click, i.e. no wake-up. After a few more minutes the computer seemed dark, cold, silent. Holding down the power button finally started it back up.
Disk spun, Apple log and spinning arrow, then blank screen again. I was finally able to eject the upgrade disk. I had to re-install Leopard and parts of iLife.
So what is a normal looking upgrade? Should the screen go blank? Did I screw things up with lack of patience?
    Any insights appreciated.
    Thanks, Joe

The screen should not go black.
Actually, this is normal for the default installation method (IOW, not starting by running from the DVD). The installer will first run some checks & then transfer a bunch of files to the drive for later use. The screen will be normal while this happens, but eventually the installer will restart the Mac & for a while the screen will be black -- typically less than a minute but sometimes longer. After this, the screen should reappear.
So, it is best to be patient & give the process some time to continue before deciding something is wrong & forcing a shutdown or restart.

  • What do the power adapters look like in the UK and France?

Hi, I am leaving for the UK and France and planning on bringing my macbook pro. I have an internal adaptor kit that I purchased a few years ago from Apple, but am unsure which adaptors in the kit work in France and the UK. Thanks for your help.

  • What does the plugin icon look like? Where is it?

Firefox has disabled the Java plugin for security reasons. However there are instructions for how to make it available for specific sites. The instructions say to click the plugin icon. What plugin icon? Where is it?

You only see the Lego block plugin icon if you visit a website that uses the plugin.
This page should show this icon for the Shockwave Flash plugin:

  • What does the report viewer look like

Ok, this is a stupid question, but I've been staring at the screen for 15 minutes and I'm stumped. I'm in Visual Studio 2010/VB.Net and I've created my first CR report in VS. I'm reading some step-by-step instructions for dummies on how to view the report at run-time. It says, "Select the default form (Form1.vb) you created in VB.NET and drag a button and CrystalReportViewer control to your form."
So where the heck in the CrystalReportView Control. When I right-click on the toolbox and chose add items I can see the there is a CrystalDecisions.Web and 1 for CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms, along with a number of other CR namespaces. I can't see them in my toolbox, though. There are no CR objects in the toolbax. What are they labeled as? If I uncheck them and the chose add items again and re-check them nothing changes. Under the section of the toolbax all I have is the Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportView. There is no CR report viewer.
What section of the toolbax should the CR report view be under?

I have a 1st Gen, MacBook Pro from 2006. For the last few years I've had to us my power adaptor as my battery no longer works, and shuts down after 30 seconds it. Now my power adaptor looks like it's coming to an end. Even though it's securely fitted, it often switches off.
I am planning on buying a new MacBook Pro later this year, but for the meantime I'm not sure if I should buy a new power adaptor, or if this is a problem with my MacBook Pro. Also does anyone know where I can buy a battery in the UK for 1st Gen MacBook Pro.

OWC has batteries for 1,1 generation MacBook Pros and they ship internationally - http://eshop.macsales.com/.
Your best bet for a power adapter is to get one from Apple. Third-party adapters just don't seem to be reliable (or safe). You can also buy a replacement battery directly from Apple, of course, but they're a bit more expensive.
    Good luck,

  • What's the icon that looks like a hard drive? (But isn't)

When I download something off of the internet (HandBreak, in this case) I get the .dmg file which then uncompresses the application, correct? Then, I get the icon that looks a bit like an external hard drive and it appears under Devices in the Finder's sidebar. My question is: what is that icon and what do I need to do with it? Does it need to get moved into the Application folder? Do I delete it? Just not sure.
    Thanks.
    Chip

    what is that icon
    It represents the mounted image.
what do I need to do with it?
You need to click on it. If there's an application inside, move that to the Applications folder. If there's a brown package icon inside, double-click it.

  • See the what a good power supply looks like

I thought this was  a kinda cool comparison of power supplies. I guess sometimes you really get what you pay for. )
    http://www.pcpowerandcooling.com/pdf/Turbo-Cool_510_vs.pdf

FYI:The Silencer 400 ATX/ATX12V is the exact same Power Supply inside as the 510 they just use a quieter less powerful fan so they derate it as a 400 watt. They have the exact same MTBF and specs. People have put a Panaflo fan into them to get more power and still provide a quiet PS this would probably void your 3 year warranty. This can save you a few $ though.:D

  • What does OBIEE sign on look like with SSO?

Dumb question, we may be using SSO with OBIEE in the near future. When that is turned on, and a user goes to the OBIEE URL - does it just automatically log in without showing the sign on page (this is what I'm assuming)?
    Thx,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
If you have a valid session then it would log you in. But if there is no valid session then it depends on OBI Version. If you are using OBI 10g it would show not logged in page. If you are using a OBI 11g it would show the default login page.

    Jay

  • Oracle Agent 12g: how does the license model look like?

    Hi ,
if I install the Oracle agent 12g on a linux box, on which no other Oracle products are installed:
    - does this require an extra license?
We just want to monitor the host (linux box) via Oracle agent, that's all.
It's my understanding that the installation of an agent on a host does not require any license at all - but going through the documentation of the CloudControl (Oracle® Enterprise ManagerLicensing Information 12c Release 1)
I didn't find any answer to my question. Is there any documentation available which contains the answer to my question?
    Any help willl be appreciated.
    Rgds

There is no license required to deploy an agent. Host monitoring is part of base EM functionality and does not require any license.

  • What will the shipping package look like for an IPad I ordered online from the Apple Store?  The reason I'm curious is because it's going to be a gift.

I'm curious as to what kind of packaging a gift I ordered online from the Apple store will come in.  It's going to be an IPad, and I don't want it to be too obvious what the item is, just in case the recipient sees the package.  I'm hoping it's in a brown cardboard box.

Mine shipped in a standard brown box. Inside was the white Apple retail packaging for the iPad.
