What does the shortcut control-3 and control-4 do, and how can I turn it off?

I'm trying to create some macros and remap my keyboard for a game, but running into some issues not being able to remap control-3 and control-4. I finally figured out that control-1 and 2 were used by Mission Control, and once that was off I gained control over those keys. But for the life of me I can't figure out what control-3 and control-4 do. I've searched various shortcut lists, but none seem to list this combination (except that it controlled Spaces, but that's gone with the new OSX).
Does anyone know what these keys are shortcuts for and how I can release them? Thanks!

user293, you must not understand what I mean, because this particular thing is brand new this past week. (I guess you think I am talking about a closely related thing, because I know that most of the way it is now has been this way for a while.)
Thanks cor-el, that totally fixed it.
Although I am dismayed that it's not just a search option and requires user hacking.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your help and providing this link. I'd actually already looked at that before, but I don't understand how it clarifies what the default identity store is. The relevant part is this, if I understand correctly:
OPSS initializes the identity store service with the LDAP authenticator chosen from the list of configured LDAP authenticators according to the following algorithm:
    1.    Consider the subset of LDAP authenticators configured. Note that, since the context is assumed to contain at least one LDAP authenticator, this subset is not empty.
    2.    Within that subset, consider those that have set the maximum flag. The flag ordering used to compute this subset is the following:
        REQUIRED > REQUISITE > SUFFICIENT > OPTIONAL
Again, this subset (of LDAPs realizing the maximum flag) is not empty.
    3.    Within that subset, consider the first configured in the context.Step (1) will match 2 external AD's and the built-in WLS LDAP, so 3 in total.
Step (2) will still match 3 in total, as they are all 'sufficient'. In my setup, I need them all to be 'sufficient'.
Step (3) is a step I don't understand. What is "the first configured in the context"? What context? Do they mean the one that was first created? In that case I can't change the default, right?
Or do they mean "the first in the list on the WLS Console"?

You may need to try this More than Once...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

  • What does this console msg mean and how can I stop it?

This is about a CDMA iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.10 (8E600). The console displays the following message every 10 seconds forever:
Wed Aug 31 12:36:47 unknown com.apple.launchd[1]<Error>: (com.apple.mobile.installd.mount_helper) posix_spawn("/usr/libexe/installd_mount_helper",...): No such file or directory
    Wed Aug 31 12:36:47 unknown com.apple.launchd[1]<Warning>: (com.apple.mobile.installd.mount_helper) Exited with exitcode: 1
    Wed Aug 31 12:36:47 unknown com.apple.launchd[1]<Warning>: (com.apple.mobile.installd.mount_helper) Throttling respawn:Will start in 10 seconds
It seems to be saying that it's trying to launch a file but the file is missing. But that interpretation doesn't totally make sense because why would it keep trying to launch a file that it already knows is missing?
I powered the phone off then recorded the console log during powerup. This message appeared for the first time during the boot sequence as follows:
Wed Aug 31 12:36:47 unknown kernel[0] <Debug>:launchd[68] Builtin profile: MobileMail (sandbox)
Wed Aug 31 12:36:47 unknown com.apple.launchd[1]<Error>: (com.apple.mobile.installd.mount_helper) posix_spawn("/usr/libexec/installd_mount_helper",...): No such file or directory

Wed Aug 31 12:36:47 unknown com.apple.launchd[1] <Warning>:(com.apple.mobile.installd.mount_helper) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10seconds
Not sure what MobileMail is but if it's the mail app, I use it all the time with (apparently) no problem. The mail app is configured to connect to google mail to send and get my mail.
Can anyone interpret this and say what's going on?  This endless message gets in the way of debugging an iPhone game I'm trying to develop.

There is no error message on the phone. I'm seeing it by reading the phone's console messages using Xcode.
My reasoning in posting it in this forum was that it appears to be an error message from iOS that has nothing to do with the software I'm developing. Even though it isn't being displayed to the user it's part of the behavior of iOS and I think this is a forum about iOS, among other topics. But I'll take your suggestion and post it on the developer forum also.

  • What is the default identity store - and how can I set it?

    Hi,
I'm running Webcenter on WLS, and using WLS and JPS for the authentication of users. On the WLS Console, if I go to Security Realms -> myrealm -> Providers, I have a list of four different providers.
If I understand correctly, these four providers are my identity stores. How can I set one as the 'default' identity store? Or see which one is currently the default?
The reason I'm asking is I have the following code in Webcenter to create a new user in the Active Directory:
// Get the default identity store
          IdentityStore idStore = WCSecurityUtility.getDefaultIdentityStore();
// Get the user manager object
          UserManager usermgr = idStore.getUserManager();
usermgr.createUser(loginName, password.toCharArray(), propertySet); So I have a utility Java class which gives me the "default identity store". Now I want to change the WLS configuration so that the Active Directory in which I want to create new users is the "default" identity store.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Ludovic

  • What is this black dialog bar and how do I turn it off?

I started up my MBP today and found this little piece of garbage on the screen, telling me what I'm doing. I just updated my software last night, including iTunes; is this some crappy part of an OS X update? It happens when I have all applications closed, as well.
Strange thing is, it wasn't happening when I first restarted my computer after installing the new software updates. Does anyone know what this is and how I can close it?

You pressed command-F5 and turned on VoiceOver. Press it again, or go to System Preferences -> Universal Access -> Seeing and turn it off.

  • What is the FAT file system and how can I format my LEXAR flash drive with it?

Recently, Apple support helped me download my songs form iTunes to a LEXAR flash drive. I connected it to the USB connector in my car. My car's display said
"unsupported". My other LEXAR usb plays music perfectly. What is wrong? My car's manual says that my audio system reads and plays audio files on the USB flash memory device in MP3, WMA, AAC formats. (AAC format files recorded with iTunes only.)  How do I correct this problem?

Reformatting the drive will completely erase it so make sure you have copies of the files.
FAT format is an older non-Mac format but is still found on plenty of things such as flash drives.  It's the one format that both Macs and Windows computers can fully use but it has limitations outside small-scale use.  Your Apple person must have reformatted your drive to Mac format which wasn't very smart of the person since almost nothing except Apple products can work with Mac format.  Are you sure you explained how you intended to use the drive, or did you just ask the person how to put files on there?

  • What does "on my mac' mean and how do i delete or reduce the number of items in there?

What does "on my mac" mean and how do i delete or reduce the number?

    Hi ya
I'm seeing this on my email screen, on the left hand side - under the "RSS Apple".  The number of items in there is now 752.  It's preventing me from sending and receiving emails in my AOL account.
Any  help would be deeply appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • What does this error message mean and how do I solve it? "Sorry, one or more of the following command-line tools was not found:  /usr/bin/lsbom, /bin/pax, /bin/mkdir, /bin/chmod, or /usr/bin/update_prebinding."

When I try to open up this program, Pacifist, I receive this error message. Here's a screenshot. http://i.imgur.com/v717w.jpg What does this error message mean and how do I solve it?

It sounds like some of the Unix Executable commands were removed (or the permissions to those were modified) out of the /usr/bin/ folder.  You can try opening disk utility and repairing permissions on Macintosh HD or you can reboot your computer and holding down option-r when it comes back up to reinstall Lion again.  This will not delete your personal information or applications you have installed but it would be best to back it up to Time Machine before you do.  The article on how to do this is here. (http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/)  I have had to do this before and it works like a charm.  It should fix your issue but grab a cup of coffee because its going to take about 35 - 40 minutes depending on how fast your computer is.

  • Better privecy does not work with windows vista home prem. what other program removes LSO'S AND HOW can I stop trackers?

    Question
better privacy does not work with windows vista home prem. what other program removes LSO'S AND HOW can I stop trackers? edit
    Details

As a temporary workaround, I believe this Adobe management page allows you to clear your "Flash cookies": [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Storage Settings panel] (hosted on macromedia.com -- Macromedia was the original developer of Flash).
Regarding the script error, if I'm reading the script correctly, it is related to accessing your Flash cookies directory. It seems the publisher's support forum is not currently available for searching, but that might be a good next step.
In the meantime, could you check whether the script has the correct location for your Flash cookies directory? If you can't access Tool > BetterPrivacy, you could check here:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''bpr''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) There should be a bolded setting named '''extensions.bprivacy.DataDir''' which looks approximately like the following:
    C:\Users\''yourWindowsUsername''\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia
Do you have a similar value? If you paste the path used by BetterPrivacy into a Windows Explorer window, does it open? Also, click a couple levels in the folder, can you see:
    Flash Player \ #SharedObjects
If the value is wrong, right-click the wrong value and choose Reset. BetterPrivacy should update the value the next time you try to access it.
If the value is blank, you could try inserting a sensible value and see whether that helps.
    Any luck?

    www.dictionary.com does
Stream: An abstraction referring to any flow of data from a source (or sender, producer) to a single sink (or

    Class:
The prototype for an object in an

Why when im streaming my songs for my library on my apple tv does it censor the songs and how do i turn it off?

I use iTunes Match, and I notice that when I play "matched" versions of 2Pac's "I Ain't Mad at Cha", all of the curse words are skipped over. Just to make sure it wasn't my copy of the track, I played it off of my permanent library, and the song plays properly. So I believe that Apple has seen fit to censor the song. I haven't read about this anywhere, but I'm pretty upset about it. I own the track -- I have a copy of 2Pac's Greatest Hits, which I ripped. If I turn off iTunes Match and transfer the song to my mobile devices with a USB cable, I could play it the way I want to hear it. I think iTunes Match is a fantastic concept, but I don't need Apple deciding what kinds of music I should or shouldn't be listening to.
Incidentally, I haven't noticed other tracks with curse words censored. It may be that I loaded them onto my mobile device before Apple began censoring.
