What does the turbo registry setting do? (other than cause stuttering

I just upgraded to a new motherboard and video card, but everything in else in my system remained the same, including my Audigy 2 ZS.
When I tried to play Fable: The Lost Chapters the music would drop out at random intervals for a second or two. I never had this with my old mobo. After searching the net a bit I saw one of the things to do was to disable the "turbo" setting in the registry, sure enough this fixed my problem. Looks like it worked for several other people too.
So what exactly does that setting do? Will turning it off affect performance? If turning that off fixes the pauses is it indicati've of some other problem (like the PCI latency being off) or is it simply a problem with Creative's drivers?
PS:
My new mobo is nForce4 SLi based, while my old one was a Via K8T800 Pro. My new vid card is a GeForce 7900GT and my old one was a Radeon X800XT.

Man I guess nobody knows, just like nobody knows what the heck CTHelper does (and don't list that crap from process listing sites, it's generic and uninformati've).
Why is Creative so tight lipped about their software, it's seems like it's impossible to have any intelligent communication with them.
Ugh. Anyway, I don't know what that setting does, but it doesn't seem to affect performance. I ran 3DMark03 (which includes sound tests) and I got the exact same results for those tests with the setting on and off.

    hi RajaReddy,
    Domains are used to
    <b><u>1. specify fixed value ranges.</u></b>
For eg: <b>status type Char 1</b>, can have fixed values stored in the domain level

    <u><b>
    2. Conversion routines are attached at domain level</b></u>
    <u>

<b>3. Value table are atttached at domain level (if fixed value ranges are not mentioned)</b></u>
for eg: value table mara is attached for Domain MATNR.

  • What does mozilla reccomend for anti virus other than microsoft?

In April Microsoft will discontinue support for anti virus protection along with updates for windows XP.
What is a good alternative to use with firefox. I think Mozilla used to have a free program but I guess that is also discontinued. So I am looking for a fee anti virus program and need some guidance as so many out there.

I can't speak for what mozilla recommends because I don't work for them. However, PC Magazine did an article called "The Best Free Antivirus for 2014". http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388652,00.asp
I have been using Comodo for years but it's more than just an antivirus program, it has a firewall and Defense Plus too. It's free and they have a really good support within their online community. You can upgrade to the payware but I find the freeware is all I need.

  • HT2729 what does the "other" category consist of when syncing iPhone

what does the "other" category consist of when syncing iPhone

"Other" data is real data that you put on your phone by using the built in apps. It is not music, not videos, not pictures and not App Store app data. It is "OTHER" meaning everything that does not fall into these categories. Such as:
    email messages and attachments
    Reminders
    Calendar entries
    Contacts
    Text messages
    iMessages
    MMS messages and attachments
    Genius data
    Music cover art
Music library database index (but not the music itself)
    Operating system settings
    Safari cache
    bookmarks
    Game Center status
    Music catalog
You will find posts from people who said they recovered over 3 GB of space by just deleting old text messages.
If you want Other to be smaller you will have to keep less data on your phone; delete old MMS and texts, delete old email (especially from the "deleted" folder), clear the cache, eliminate cover art.
Sometimes "Other" includes data corruption. If you suspect this is a possibility try connecting to iTunes and click the Restore iPhone button. First restore from backup; the Other doesn't get any smaller you can Restore again and set up as New, then add your content back separately from your backup.

  • On my mini ipad, I cleared the cookies/histories in the safari setting.  But what does the advance-setting of the clearing the website data does?  What's that used for? Thank you!

On my mini ipad, when I'm on the internet -- a few times I will see a blue small pop-up boxes telling me to allow down/load or add something like the bubble-splash game or something similar.  I jusr click ignore and it goes away.. I'm not sure why it's showing up lately.. I'm not sure if it's a virus or hacked in or a web brower matter..
Should I go to the cookies/histories in the safari setting and have it cleared out?  Will that help resolve that??
And what does the advance-setting of the clearing the website data does?  Sorry, I'm not familiar.. what's is that used for? Should I use that feature as well?? Thank you!

    This indicates corrupt files.
    A restore should resolve.

  • What does the PRIN setting in MAX mean for my Dalsa CL-C8-6000A Camera?

I am using PCI-1424 with Dalsa CL-C8-6000A Camera. The
integration setting in MAX allows me to set the integration time using PRIN. But what does the number mean? How do you I convert it to time units (seconds, say)?

Dalsa uses the PRIN line to control its integration time based on the pixel clock of the camera. So to convert PRIN to time units, you first need to do know the frame rate you will be working at. This will allow you to then calculate the pixel clock and thusly the amount of time for say 1000 pixel clocks.
One consequence of this is that as you change your frame rate, your integration time will also change (since your pixel clock is now faster or slower).

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
    First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
    as recommended by:

    Dear Robinson,
It seems to be that you have 2 ways of solving the problem:
    1) restart forte after setting the environment variables
    2) write a little application which sets the required variables, using
    the task.part.OperatingSystem.SetEnv(name,value) method.
If you have to chage the variables rarely, then it`s easier to restart forte,
otherwise I would suggest to use the SetEnv function...

    Richard,
There is no way of changing the environment variable once the Node
Manager is up. You will have to shutdown the node manager and then restart
it to have the new environment variables take effect. Sorry, there is no
secret way of doing this that I know of.
But you can set the variables on you development machine and run you
application without distributing. This way the partition will be running in
your client machine and not the server.
Another way we have also got around this is by having a special
environment variable on the client side that opens a admin screen when you
run you application. This admin screen will allow you to change the
environment variables and then set them on the server partition. You will
have to do come coding on the server to make this happen but if you are
using a framework then it should be easy. We call this developer reconnect
facility. It only can be activated by the special client side environment
variable. I comes in very handy when we are development and want to change
the database on the server partition.
    Hope this help.
