What else do I absolutely need?
I finally have saved enough $$$ for a 5G iPod 60Gb. But before I go to the store/web and buy/order it I would like some input from users about which other things I really need to buy that do not come with the basic iPod.
Any info is highly appreciated!
For the most part, it comes with everything you need. Software, Sync cable which also charges iPod off your USB port, headphone, a cheap case, and the iPod itself.
First thing I would get in addition, and I did, was a screen protector. You know, just the clear plastic film you can buy for PDAs and the like that you simply stick over the front of the iPod. These babies scratch easy. You can cut it to cover just the screen area if you want, but I put a piece over the entire front of mine. Still can use the scroll/click wheel no problem.
Next maybe a more rebust case, basically something that if you dropped the iPod from about three or four feet, you would be reasonably confident your iPod won't bust.
Finally maybe another wall pluggable charger for when you are away from your Mac like at work or on vacation.
Have fun!

What else does my Mac need and how do I configure it?
Just installed Premiere CS4 on my Mac – 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory and 1TB hard disk. I want to edit files shot on a JVC GY-HM100 camcorder.
Will the addition of USB 2.0 external hard drives help me to handle HD video? How should they be arranged and accessed by Premiere files and processes? Is it a good idea to add more RAM, say another 4GB?
Sorry if this is a bit basic. It's all very new, but exciting!Hi Harm
Sadly, this machine wasn't built for this kind of use.
It's not a professional production machine but it's less than a year old.
My work is mostly short web-based features, so I hope to get more use from the iMac until my longer, HD projects start rolling in.
I'll try the Firewire 800 option. How would you spread the tasks across the internal drive, the Firewire 800 external and a 500GB USB 2.0 storage/back-up device? -
My Mother in law messed up my Adobe reader some how to the point that it is no longer in my computer. I have tried to download it from the internet but it is not working. What am I missing? what else do I need to do? I am not even able to watch youtube...
Soccerdm,
a direct download of Adobe Reader X 10.1.4 (which seems to be the most recent standalone version that runs on Mac OS X 10.5.8) is here. -
My office just bought me an iMac and I absolutely need to hook up a second monitor but there is no DVI connection on it, just a Thunderbolt. What do I do? Please help ASAP!!! The imac is a 21.5" and they also already bought an HD 21.5 ASUS LCD monitor to attach to it. I'm really trying to make this setup work but this is becoming a nightmare. Any suggestions? I looked up different VGA adapters but the only options for this would be a usb-vga connection which doesn't work on macs. Can anyone tell me if this new Thunderbolt connection will work in some way? Thanks
Using the Thunderbolt port attach a Mini-display to DVI so long as the Asus display is equipped and capable, otherwise Mini-display to VGA will also work. The Thunderbolt port is ahead devices which are not yet available to take advantage of the increased capacity in speed. Until the devices and connection cables are available, just use the port as a Mini-display port.

I just bought a iphone 5c and when I tried to use my computer to download the syncd version of my phone I found out I needed the latest version of the IOS. I tried downloading the latest version and it won't let me do it unless I upgrade. What else can I do? I don't want to buy a new computer....
If you want to synch your iPhone with iTunes on your computer, you will need to meet the minimum requirements. If this requires you to upgrade your computer then you will need to do so. System requirements for the iPhone 5c are clearly posted on Apple's website and this should have been considered before you bought your phone. There's no way around the system requirements.

I have an eMac which I want to connect to my home wireless network. My router is D-Link - 601 tech. 802.11n. My eMac is wireless ready but does not contain an airport card. Do I need a card and an airport station? What else?
You need the Airport card OR Airport Express but not both. Considering the age of your machine, I recommend Airport Express as you will find other uses for it whenever you replace the eMac.
To set up the AE, you do need OSX 10.4 or higher. -
I am trying to download itunes to PC and it downloads but then says Service Apple Mobile Device failed to restart. Verify sufficient privileges to start system services. What do I need to do? I am an Administrator on the PC so what else needs attention?
Hi txatxo
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. You may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service. This article has instructions for doing this:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1567
If that doesn't resolve the issue, I would recommend trying a thorough uninstall and reinstall of iTunes as described here:

I am going to place a 30 minutes dvd film on a website for one of my clients. The film was shot 15 years ago and is in vhs-format. Before I will have the film converted into a dvd-format I want to know what format will suit my needs best. HTTP, Flash, Quicktime or something else? I will make it easy for myself placering the dvd film on the site and for the vistors who wish to look att the film.
The DVD format (MPEG-2) isn't appropriate for Web use.
Use QuickTime and H.264 video codec with AAC audio. Size the file at 320X240 (best fit for your old file). -

RESTORING: At the moment I am downloading a movie on the itunes store my 8GB ipod touch (not my computer) (which I have already paid for) and I need to restore my ipod. Will restoring it stop/delete my downloading movie? what else does it delete?
Try DFU mode and then restore
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
When you restore via iTunes iTunes will download the firmware(ipsw) file. It could be that the microwave damaged the iPod and iTunes does not know what it is. -
My Ipod touch shows message"Ipod needs to cool down before you can use it"

What else do I need to do?

I have upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion and updated Iphoto to latest, however, I still can not access photos sent to me via photo stream. what else do I need to do? I'm $30 into this effort, and no results!
Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane. Then log back in and re-enable, respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

got family pack so ilife and iwork. found adobe and java for mac. what else would you recommend?
any help appreciated, thanksHi Networktec,
After you installed OSX 10.5.6 go to the Apple website and download the Combo Updater OSX 10.5.8
Now, run Disc Utilities and Repair Permissions.
Now Reboot ...
Now, just run the Software updater on your Mac, and ALL the updates you still need will be shown.
Install them and run Disc Utilities again.
Good Luck ...

Hello, I have Iphone 5 with Itunes music, airport express, 2 stereo speakers. What else do I need to hear music on the speakers?
Hello ricsch,
It sounds like you want to setup your Airport Express to Airplay music from your iPhone 5. I found an article with steps to help you get this setup:
Connecting to an existing Wi-Fi network, exclusively for iTunes music
AirPort Express used exclusively for AirPlay by setting it up in Client Mode.
Choose this configuration if the computer containing your iTunes library may be out of direct range of the AirPort Express, but is within range of the Wi-Fi network.
How to Set It Up
Connect your AirPort Express to your home stereo or powered speakers.
From your computer, join the wireless network. Use the AirPort status menu in the menu bar on a Mac. On a Windows-based computer, hold the pointer over the wireless connection icon until you see your AirPort network name (SSID), and choose it from the list if there are multiple networks available. Enter the network password, if necessary.
Open iTunes on your computer and choose the AirPort Express(es) you wish to stream music through from the speakers pop-up menu in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.
I also recommend reviewing the sections titled "Some things you should know about AirPort Express with AirPlay" and "Things to consider before you begin" in the full article:
Wi-Fi base stations: How to set up and configure AirPort Express for AirPlay and iTunes

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

I updated SCCM 2012 R2 from CU3 to CU4. Where can I find good directions on what else I need to do to make this work? I'm assuming I have to deploy the new clients?
Thanks,
James
James A+, Network+, MCPYou have to create different collections (x64 vs x86 clients) because the .msp to be deployed is architecture specific.
"Distribute content" just distributes binaries to distribution points. You can select a collection there, but that has nothing to do with clients. It just distributes content to DPs that are assigned to collections.
Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
Ok. That is helpful. I appreciate the response. I hate to ask another question, but I', still learning the product. In the Step-by-Step SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 Installation Guide from System Center Dudes, it says to create the collections by using their predefined
queries. I tried to enter these as queries but I think I am doing so in the wrong area of the collection creation process. Could you break it down for me?
Do you know of any good training (free) that is video based an breaks SCCM 2012 R2 down into smaller more detailed steps?
Thanks,
James
