What equipment do I need to burn a CD

I have a MacBook Air without a CD drive.
I recently bought a USB Super Drive to load programs or music to my computer.
If I want to burn a CD would I need a different type of Drive?

You can use that SuperDrive.

  • I have a macbook pro. what equipment do i need to watch my computer on my flat screen tv?

i have a macbook pro. what equipment do i need to watch my computer on my flat screen tv? thank you.

Step 1. Peek in the back of the TV and identify what kind of inputs it has. Ideally, you'd want an HDMI socket, followed by a DVI or in worst case, analog VGA. Try to determine what's the "native resolution" of the panel.
Step 2. Based on what you find, peruse in the Apple Store (Mac Accessories /  Cables section, if online) for the appropriate dongle/converter. One end goes to the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay Port on the Mac, other end depending on the output to feed to the TV. Also buy the corresponding cable of the desired length.
Step 3. Plug everything together. You have to decide whether to use display mirroring (Mac & TV show the same thing) or separate displays (each shows different stuff).
Step 4. Based on 1 and 3, open System Preferences / Displays and adjust screen resolution(s) for optimum viewing pleasure. The Mac's display usually far exceeds the external display's max resolution capabilities, so you have to downsize as needed, if in mirroring mode.
    Step 5. Enjoy the results.
Edit: If your TV  has HDMI input AND your MacBook Pro is a Retina, you can skip the first half of step 2. The Mac already has HDMI output port, so you just need the cable.

I have dial up connection for my internet  What equipment do I need to be able to watch Netflix on my TV?

First need would be a high speed Internet connection, such as Cable, DSL or Fibre service. Dial-up has nowhere near the capacity to provide Netflix service.

What equipment do I need to make my ipad 2 WiFi to be online when I am away from my home?

If you have a phone and a network that allows it, you can use your phone as a WiFi hotspot (it's known as Tethering). Other than that, you'll have to rely on random WiFi hotspots wherever (coffee houses and fast food restaurants are your best bets).

  • What app do I need to burn imovies to dvd

I have a new imac - no internal superdrive- I bought a stand alone. I need to burn imovies to dvd. Idvd no longer works with new imac, I purchased Toast - that does not work, I downloaded Free DVD creator - that does not work either. I have been following the procedures but the dvds can not be played on my tv dvd player.

Use Verbatim like babowa suggested and burn at the slowest speed available. That will give you the best qualtiy video DVD. If you find you want to create a video DVD with more style than what Toast provides consider using iDVD.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

I think these days, any mac will do. Personally, I'd want to get one with Firewire since the interfaces I'd want to use are all firewire (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions), and Thunderbolt isn't quite there yet with peripherals.
If your music goals are more ambitious, you might weigh higher-end options, but in terms of basic garagebanding around, any current mac should work fine.
M-Audio makes a variety of good keyboard controllers. I like the ones with at least a semi-wieghted keyboard like the Axiom series, or their fully weighted keyboards. I've got a keyboard background so the key action is important to me.
Here's a site that has a number of models on it to peruse.
    http://www.sweetwater.com/shop/keyboards/keyboard-controllers/
Best is if you can feel the actual keyboard to see if you would be happy with it. If you've had a piano background, you'll probably want a better physical action than the cheapest synth actions. However, if you're just getting started, that might be fine. Outside of the keyboard itself, M-Audio controllers work well, and offer good bang for the buck.
You would also want to get an audio interface. A link for those:
    http://www.sweetwater.com/shop/computer-audio/audio_interfaces/
A lot depends on your budget. If you're just starting you can get away with something for around $100 or so. Double or tripple that for better quality. Add a zero for something even more substantial. Firewire is generally better, although RME makes a great USB interface now although it's pricey. A lot of the less expensive USB interfaces are widely used and popular, presonus, m-audio, motu, mackie, etc. The good thing about the Sweetwater site is you can see what other people seem to be buying these days.

  • What equipment do I need to stream music from itouch to bathroom speakers?

Ok, my wife wants to be able to play her ipod touch wirelessly to some speakers in the bathroom. I would like for the speaker(s) to be either wall or ceiling mounted. The only thing we already have, is the ipod touch and a wireless network. What else do I need? Do I need airplay, airport express, a receiver? What would be a good speaker system for a bathroom?
    Thanks!
    Andy

What are your constraints? Why not buy a klipshe ipod dock to set on the bathroom counter. That is my current setup. That, and I waterproofed the remote so I could skip tracks in the shower. If you're dead set on installing speakers into the room itself, simply find a way to amp the speakers and feed a 3.5 from it so any audio source with a 3.5 can be plugged in and ready to go. If you're looking for a more sophisticated solution, e.g streaming, Sonos makes great wireless/network solutions, I believe they also have recievers that are compatible with itunes libraries. But at that point you don't even need the itouch.
    Hope I helped.

  • Macbook Pro - What Equipment do I need to hook my Macbook to speakers for a banquet hall?

    Hi Everyone!
I was asked to be in charge of music at my Aunts Wedding Shower in a few weeks, I was going to make Playlists on my Macbook Pro, I just need to know what type of equipment I need.  I will prob rent a speaker from a music store, but is there a specific plug in I need? Or some sort of mini switch board that connects from the laptop to the speaker? Or a cable?? please advise
Its going to be held in a banquet hall for about 90 people...
Hope to hear from someone soon!
    Thanks!

Your Macbook Pro can not fully provide enough sound for a banquet hall unless you're using speakers with a built in AMP.
Here's what you do - get a normal AMP or Receiver and connect your speakers on the audio out of the AMP/Receiver.  Now with the image you see below - connect the 1/8" jack to your headphone jack of your Macbook Pro and connect the RCA jacks in the Line In or AUX in of the AMP/Receiver - on your AMP/Receiver, there is a selector in from that selects CD/PHONO/Line in - select Line in so you can hear the sound/music from your Macbook Pro.
It is however, much better to use a Mixer as Adam93T states.  But you will need more cables unless you use a mixer with it's own AMP built in.
    Good luck

  • How do I connect my Mac Mini (DVI) to a monitor (VGA) and 2 TV's (HDMI)?  What equipment do I need?

I have an older Mac Mini with a DVI out.  Right now using a monitor with VGA in, and since my Mini came with the adapter, all is good.  However, I'm trying to use this setup to also connect 2 50" TV's that have HDMI's.  What would be the proper setup in order to run the mini and the monitor along with the TV's?  Thanks!

You need USB to video adopters. See:

  • What DVDs do I need to burn movies?

My computer has a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-106D Drive.
Does that mean that I need DVD-RWs to write to them, because it won't even recognize DVD-R's...
Is there such a thing as an external DVD-R burner that I could plug into my USB drive or something?
    Advice is appriciated. Thankyou.

Well I tried just putting a DVD-R into the drive, and it won't even register that there is one in it. Not sure if that is because of an incomaptible disc type or not. Haven't looked up the specs yet, at school now, so I can't get to the computer atm.

  • What equipment do i need to set-up a home editing station?

i have been approached by my job to do some editing for them. they are going to pay for me to take a final cut pro class (i graduated from film school in 1998 - right before the big switch was made from flat beds to AVID). Any suggestions of the kind of mac i would need, memory, loading footage, playback monitor, screen, etc?
    Thanks.

What kind of format will you be working with?
    HD? HDV????? DV? Beta?
I'd buy the biggest baddest mac you can afford - 2 gigs memory is fine unless you can swing 4. Fill the 4 bays with at least 500gig drives (but....)
The rest will depend on what format you will be using.

    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_callmg/4_1/sec_vir/ae/sec413/secugd.pdf
Also Cisco provides a standalone version of their Security Agent for CCM. Here is the link.
