What ever happened to the "What you Hear" device for XFi Exteme Audio for Vi
I thought for sure the mixer device would be added back in as part of these new driver, but apparently the minds of creative feel it is ok to take options away from a purchased product? Does anyone know of a good work around to allow for recording "What You Hear" in Vista?
wclampet,I have same problem with my X-fi extremeGamer card in vista. It means i can't use any other sound recording software to record anything off the net since there is no recording device such as 'what u hear' for it to use. Can't get support from Creative and they won't even answer the simple question of whether it's supposed to be there or not because mine is an oem dell system. For the some reason i cant?install the latest drivers from the Creative site either ( because i have an oem version ?) - though i?dont think it would solve the issue anyway really. [color="#0033ff">Anyway just to let u know there is a workround - u can record basically 'what u hear'?using?the Creative Mediasource?5 Player using the Digital -in (the only record device i have) and choosing Wav,multi-channels as the recording format. You will end up with a wav. file (big) which you can then convert using the?Creative Mediasource 5 Converter (after a lot of trial and error in choosing the right destination?format - WMA?Pro -28kbps 44kHz?5. I thought it was not possible for a long while).You end up with a Windows Media Audio WMA file. If you want to convert to Mp3 is seems you have to buy another program off them. ?I am a bit annoyed at not being able to use any other?streaming audio recorder program with this soundcard? that could record direct to MP3. Would appreciate it if anyone (including anyone at Creative - I am in Singapore U know!) could tell me if?there should be a 'what u hear' recording device or not - and if not why not ???

A while back (sorry, can't remember exactly when... 2 years?), Apple stopped selling the non-plus versions of songs (128 kbps, DRM protected). They now only sell the "plus" version so there's no longer a need to make the distinction.

plug and play. well that is a windows term.. Apple decided they didn't need uPnP on the Time Capsule because that is just so windows.. so they use there own system.. called NAT-PMP.. (port mapping protocol). Just to make sure that things like playstation, xbox, etc could not open ports properly. And windows machines of course should be excluded from playing.

"simple english".. unfortunately networking requires the use of a fair number of terms people are just unfamiliar with.
The big lie was computers and networking are easy. Computers in isolation might be fine.. but as soon as you link things in networks.. it gets much harder.. and people who do study for a couple of years just to diploma level in networking haven't done it because they are dumb and could have read the simple english manual overnight. But because it is complex.
I try and explain it this way.. if your washing machine goes bung, do you start pulling it to pieces and trying to find the fault.. or do you call the washing machine repairman.. who has trained to fix washing machines.
If your computer or networking goes bad.. then "who are you going to call?" The manufacturer and complain about how hard it is to setup a $100 piece of equipment and expect them to give two hours of hand holding for free on the phone. People would never call a computer support technician.. no this is easy.. it is in simple english somewhere.. and you only need to spend an hour and all will be fine. Even though you have as much training in networking as in washing machine repairs. Would you call the washing machine manufacturer and expect 2 hours of free phone support for you to strip down their washing machine.. after all it cost 6x times what the router cost?? Or has some strange lie grabbed hold of you that this is simple. -
It's like it booted to a state it was in several months ago. My CS 5 apps are not in the dock or applications folder. Has this ever happened before and what can I do?
The files on my desktop are not the ones that were there when I shut down. It's like it's gone back in time.
My display's power supply got fried (I think) in a power outage so I bought a new one. However, every time I restart the display usually stays black. I have found I need to keep rebooting until it kicks in and starts working. I unplug everything, wait a while (a few minutes to overnight) and try booting again.
This last time the display finally came on but I'm faced with this problem. I used to use time machine, but I deleted everything and disabled it a couple months ago or more so I'm at aloss as to why the mac is booting into the state it was in sevearl months ago.
What could I have done to cause this? Has this ever happened to anyone else and is there a solution?
Note: I did a search for a file I knew was created today. I found it and it showed that it was a file I had saved on the desktop this morning--even though that file's icon is not appearing on the desktop now.
I did a search for photoshop and saw my CS5 version listed.
However, I did a couple more searches and these files no longer appear in the search. I don't know if they're there or not. This is bizarre!
I'm on a Mac Pro, 10.6.2.Thanks for the obvious question. I mean it. The very same thought came to me this morning and, sure enough, I had booted into another drive--my old one that, of course, had the old desktop, etc.
It didn't dawn on me that this was the case since I hadn't set it as a boot drive but I guess in the course of all the restarts I did, it got switched.
I'm back to normal again. -

DetailsYou are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar

I don't want icloud either, because I don't want all my personal info on a server. I want to keep my personal information in my system. Am I making any sense? Just because the iPhone 4 has been discontinued, does not mean you won't get warranty service. You will, & if your phone needs replacing, under warranty, it will be replaced with an identical model.
