What exactly affects push notifications?

So basically here is my "issue", unless it's the same for everyone:
What would happen is every, oh let's say 10 minutes whenever someone would text me I would almost immediately get notified of it. And then all of a sudden push notifications stop working (I use iPusher to check) and whenever someone would text me then I would get the alert around 5-10 mins later, when the push notifications are working again. This process would repeat, often randomly.
Does this happen to everyone?
I am on iOS 6.0.1, iPhone 5 Black 16Gig for Sprint, using my WiFi, not the cellular data.

... but you're not allowed to "advertise the availability of new features or versions.".
I just can't think of any push notification that wouldn't violate the terms... But I guess that if you technically describe old features it wouldn't violate the rule, but then again it would promote the use of the application.
What should be added is that I don't only need to follow Apple's rules, but also convince a legal team that we're allowed to do messages like the examples mentioned. Might be even more difficult.

  • Android devices not getting push notifications after a while

We have just installed a new Exchange 2013 setup and started to move mailboxes across. Users that have Android devices though are noticing that push notifications are not reaching them and checking in the ECP I can see their last sync times are a long time
    ago!
If they restart their devices then the sync occurs and push notifications work for about half a day then stop again.
We have no issues with any iOS devices getting push notifications. We have a range of Android JellyBean and KitKat deployed so not looking device related. If I turn off push notification on the Android device and force a manual sync every 5 minutes that
works and currently seems to be my workaround. But this will drain the battery quicker now.
The flow of notification would be simple, Exchange2013 > Firewall > Internet > Device
Anyone else experiencing issues like this and know what to check? We have checked all networking aspects and its not a network/firewall issue.

After hours of searching online and testing and troubleshooting I found the issue actually was affecting push notifications to all mobile devices on Exchange 2013 where their mailboxes had been migrated recently from Exchange 2010.
There is a bug in Exchange 2013 CU5 which I am on which causes issues after mailbox migrations and requires the ActiveSync app pool in IIS to require a restart after mailbox moves to function correctly.
After I completed an iisreset within a command prompt on the CAS server everything started working for push notifications.
Lets hope this gets fixed in CU6!

  • What do I do when my phone tells me connect to iTunes to use push notifications

What do I do when my iphone 4 tells me to connect to iTunes to use push notifications

    Hello Taylor_14,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
    iOS: Understanding notifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3576
    Troubleshooting notifications
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
Note: Notifications use Wi-Fi only when a cellular connection is unavailable. Firewalls and proxy servers may affect your ability to receive notifications. For more information, see Unable to use Apple Push Notification service (APNs).
If you're not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
Verify that the app supports notifications.
After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app to begin receiving notifications. If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
Check Settings > Notification Center to ensure that the app is configured for notifications. If notifications do not appear in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

     Hi,
One of my ex-colleagues has installed a NI-DAQ 6.5 in our system. [And I do not see any other naitional instruments card in the CPU of the computer, may be he removed it] I deleted the account and all his files in the system. When I am trying to install version8.0, its not getting installed and giving me a message that I should uninstall the previous version by going to Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
I tried doing that, but the "Change/Remove" button does not seem to work...[There is no response and so unable to install the new version...]
Any idea how can this problem be solved?
It is a windowsXP operating system with SP2 installed on a machine with P4 processor.
    Thanks

  • So what's the deal with AIM and Push notifications?

So we all get 3.0. AIM is supposed to get push. So going into the AIM prefs, "push" is the same old send an SMS to the iPhone number. The SMS comes in, you hit reply and the iPhone opens SMS app!!! It doesn't open AIM.
This is nuts. Talk about things never changing.

    Randy Fast wrote:
The app isn't yet updated to take advantage of the PNS. Just wait, a few are coming out now. AP news just got updated and has PNS settings.
AIM was one of the apps used for testing Push for the last 10 days. And I'm using the paid version. One would think then it would be working.
I've been using BeeJiveIM for so long, I bought AIM today to see how the Push works.
So what you are saying is Push notifications are still not implemented?

Use Lion Recovery to repair the startup disk if necessary, or reinstall the Mac OS X.

  • What's the difference between "local reminder" and "push notification?

A friend has been bugging me about this, does anyone know what's the difference between "local reminder" and "push notification" in an iPhone app?

In a nutshell, local notifications are popup notifications from applications on your phone, based on data that's already on the local phone.  Push notifications are popup notifications you get when new info (like an email, tweet, or update from something like Facebook) gets pushed to your device from a server.

  • HT201210 Since my update to IOS7 all my apps say that I have to go to itunes for push notifications. What? I cant find that option anywhere, and I am ready to push this phone through an open window.

Please HELP ME !! Ever since I updated my phone to the IOS7 it has not allowed me to have push notifications on any apps. It states that I must go to itunes to get push notifications.  However, I go to itunes on my phone it is just the store, I go on my computer it just shows what apps I have.  This is beyond frustrating.

    Hey Chapup,
First, I would try this and see if it applies to your situation:
To use certain services, iTunes must download and install an authentication token on the device. Because iPad and iPod touch do not require an active Internet connection to activate, these tokens may not be downloaded and installed during initial setup.
You can resolve this issue by verifying that iTunes has an active Internet connection. Use the following steps:
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
Verify that your Mac or PC has an active Internet connection by accessing the iTunes Store in iTunes.
Connect your iPad or iPod touch to your Mac or PC.
After the sync completes, verify you can access YouTube.
Note: iTunes 9.1 or later is required when using iPad.
via: iPad and iPod touch: Unable to use YouTube or Push notifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3305
And if that doesn't resolve the issue then I would backup the device to iTunes and restore it. Just be cautious and back up first, since restoring deletes all content and settings:

  • What TCP ports are used by Push notifications

I believe my Firewall is blocking Push Notifications on my iPod touch. So, I wanted to discover what the TCP Ports are that are used by Push so I could open those ports to pass packets (info) to my iPod.

    See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3576
"If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223."

  • What exactly des the HT multiplier affect?

    Hi guys.
I recently built a new rig with the K8N Neo2 Platinum primarily based on Anandtech.com's review of it.  I've been trying to overclock my system that I built but believe I fried my ram somehow while doing it.  Which I still don't understand as Anandtech did some reviews with my ram on this board and were able to get a lot more out of it than I was at.
At any rate my question is:
What exactly does the HT multiplier affect in the bios settings?
Some overclockers have said if you get your fsb over 260 you need it at 3x and if less than that at 4x.  I'm assuming this has something to do with your ram but I'm not sure.  If someone could shed some light on this I would appreciate it!
    Thanks

    HTT (or HT):
HTT (HyperTransportTechnology) is what the Athlon 64 uses as sort of an fsb, the complete story is above so I won't tell it all here. The HTT is the link between the CPU and the Chipset, that runs at a certain speed. The A64 systems get a lot of advantage out of this fast connection. Here are the speeds for the different chipsets:
VIA K8T800pro/nForce4: HTT Multiplier: 5, Actual speed at 200Mhz: 1Ghz
    VIA K8T800/nForce3 250: HTT Multiplier: 4, Actual speed at 200Mhz: 800Mhz
    nForce3 150: HTT Multiplier: 3, Actual speed at 200Mhz: 600Mhz
Note that any speed above 800Mhz is pretty much overkill, you don't need it because you simply have too little devices to use all the bandwidth. In fact, the 600Mhz of the nForce3 150 hardly gives it a disadvantage, its just not being used...
