What exactly does "updating your ipod" mean?

Yes... like, is it everytime you load new songs? or... what... thanks for your answers!

there's a couple of senses in which it's used around here.
one sense is "transferring music/videos/notes/etc to the ipod with itunes". you'll also sometimes see that referred to as "syncing". that's the sense that is being used in this document:
iPod: Artwork missing from songs
the other main sense is "upgrading the ipod software" ... that's what you do when you run the ipod updater, plug in the ipod, and click the "update" button. that's the sense that is being used in this document:
Updating iPod

  • What exactly does clearing your cache do?

There seems to be a bit of uncertainity going on in Yahoo answers as to whether clearing your flash player cache makes you lose everything in your games..(levels, items, etc.) Someone says they click on "delete all sites" (on the global settings manager) and it makes their games run more smoothly. Somebody else says it will delete ALL info in EVERY game you are playing. Why would anybody want to do that? Does clearing your cache make any game run faster?

    Hi,
I don't think that clearing the player's cache will have any noticeable impact on game performance, but I might be wrong. Anyhow, clearing the cache does in fact delete all game info that was stored locally. This might not mean, however, that you will automatically loose all your game stats as these might be saved on the server. It all depends on the game developer, but I'd say that all games that require some sort of login will store the game information online and there's a number of reasons to do that, cache clearing being just one of them. For casual games that don't require a login, it's pretty sure that all game info is stored locally and will be deleted by clearing the cache.
    Hope this helps.
    Best,
    Rui

  • Does Updating Your iPod Erase Your Music?

If I update my iPod with the newest software, will the update erase the music on my iPod?
    Please let me know!
    Thanks!

There's no reason that updating should erase your music, personally any firmware update I've done has gone smoothly. However you should always keep a aback up of your music in case of problems with your computer so if anything ever happens to your iPod you can reload it and/or iTunes.

  • Does updating your ipod delete apps, songs, photos or app data or any other thing ???

i want to update to 5.1 and it says that it will backup and restore all apps photos songs and everything.so,does updating delete apps or anything or erase app data and progress??

If you update on your syncing computer and all synced media like app, music and synced photos are in yur itunes library/on the computer, you will not lose them nor ose apps date.  The backup that iTunes makes as the first step of the update includes app dat and some other things but does not include synced media.

  • What exactly does restoring my iPod do to my music?

I know that it says all my songs and data will be lost on my iPod but...will that also wipe out my iTunes folder? It shouldn't, but I want to be absolutely sure.

will that also wipe out my iTunes folder?
No. Restoring only formats the iPod and reinstalls the iPod OS.
Nothing is changed on the computer.

  • So what exactly does limited to "one app" mean with a Pro account and the new prices?

So it seems Pro has dropped in price but it is now limited to "one App".
So what exactly does that "one App" mean?
Only one tablet version or one phone version for a certain title?
Or you can have a tablet & phone version including android & iOS for that one title?

I think that everyone received it just now…
Changes to Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, Professional Edition
Effective immediately, all customers who newly purchase or renew Digital Publishing Suite (DPS), Professional Edition, will be able to publish only one app per license of DPS Professional Edition.
Under this policy change, Professional Edition customers can publish an unlimited number of issues (.folio files) to a single app and distribute those issues based on purchased fulfillment bundles.
An app created with a single license of DPS Professional Edition can be distributed to any or all of the marketplaces that DPS supports, including the Apple App Store (and Newsstand), Google Play, Amazon Appstore, and the Windows Store.
In conjunction with this policy change, Adobe is reducing the price of a Professional Edition license to $4,800 USD annually (€3,600/¥480,000) or to $400 per month (€300/¥40,000) and will include 1,000 fulfillments annually. The number of fulfillments included with a monthly subscription remain unchanged.
This policy does not apply to test or demo apps published using Professional Edition. The one-app-per-license policy applies only to an app published to a supported marketplace(s).
If you are an agency, upon your renewal or purchase of Professional Edition, you can create only one app per Professional Edition license. If you have multiple clients for whom you are creating apps, either you as the agency or your client must purchase a Professional Edition license for each app published to a supported marketplace(s).
If you are an existing Professional Edition customer and choose to renew your Professional Edition license at the end of your annual agreement, these changes, including the lower price point and 1,000 fulfillments, apply at that time. These changes do not apply to your existing DPS Professional Edition agreement and take effect only if you renew your license.
DPS Professional Edition customers can continue to create unlimited Single Edition apps, which is unchanged under the new policy. A Single Edition app is defined as an app that includes one built-in or embedded folio.
If you expect to publish three or more apps annually, we encourage you to contact your local reseller to discuss pricing for a multi-year Enterprise Edition license.
Enterprise Edition offers additional functionality and benefits not available through Professional Edition. These include app customization, integration with back-end business systems, in-app marketing tools, targeted content based on user entitlement, and the ability to publish apps privately.

  • HT4859 when you go to do this it say that your iPod or whichever device will no longer be backed up to the computer it is currently backed up to, what exactly does that mean? Will i not be able to sync my iPod from that computer?

when you go to do this it say that your iPod or whichever device will no longer be backed up to the computer it is currently backed up to, what exactly does that mean? Will i not be able to sync my iPod from that computer? Please help me and answer either or both question detailed thanks

Normally when you sync your device it is automatically backed up to your computer as the first step in the sync process.  When you choose to start backing up your device to iCloud, iTunes stops automatically backing it up on your computer when you sync.  That's what the message is telling your; that you are now backing up to iCloud and not to your computer each time you sync.  You can still manually back up to your computer any time you want by going to the Summary tab and clicking on Back Up Now under Manually Back Up and Restore.
You can still sync your device as you did before, it just will no longer back up automatically when you do.

  • HT201270 In layman terms, what the heck does updating your carrier settings mean and how does it effect me in the real world?

In Layman terms, what the heck does updating your carrier settings mean, and how does it effect me in the real world?

No offense, but what carrier?  what data and what service?
I get a bogus window hovering in my itunes page, telling me I have to update information, that I don't want to manage.
I am not upset or unappreciative of your feedback, quite the opposite, I can't believe anyone actually monitors peoples frustrations.
I just want to make sure I don't allow information about me that is not necessary.  I just want to listen to music and have a phone and have an ipad.
Everything else about apple is way to propriatory. I don't want to do anything that isn't very simple.
Most importantly, there never seems to be any (human being) that can answer a telephone call anymore.
Contact us, means...send us an email about something you don't know anything about, and I don't even know that questions to ask.
I am not allowed to be ignorant.  If I am I wait days for answers.....

  • What does "update carrier settings" Mean?  Settings for what?

What does "update carrier settings" Mean?  Settings for what?

It means just what it says. Carrier settings are the settings the carrier installs on the phone to connect it properly to their network. Periodically, carriers push updates to those settings. You should accept them.

  • What does "Upgrade Your Device" mean for a VZW customer?

I had a LG Octane and "upgraded" to LG Cosmos at the end of my contract. The Octane does not have a camcorder but the Cosmos did. To me this was a "downgrade." I learned of this "downgrade" after I had the "upgraded" a few weeks. I believe Verizon's use of the term "Upgrade Your Device" is deceptive and a false promise. Verizon representatives refuse to recognize this "upgrade" as a "downgrade." I am stuck with a downgraded phone for more than another year before I can upgrade again without paying the full cost of a phone! So what does "Upgrade Your Device" mean when used on the Webpage of your Verizon Account?

The upgrade is that your new phone has a camcorder. Your old phone did not.
The word upgrade means to me getting a new phone that has features that my old phone didn't have and that i will actually use.

  • What exactly does "delivers" mean? ):

I ordered an iPad mini on the 7 Nov, and right now the status is still processing items, not even close to preparing shipment yet.
but it says it delivers: 26/11/2012 - 3/12/2012. so my question is what exactly does "delivers" mean?
the time that it takes to reach you? or the time it takes to be prepared to get ship to you?
because i thought it takes at least 1-2 weeks to get shipped. but apparently it's not prepared for shipping yet. ):
    Cheers

It should mean the anticipated date of delivery to you.  This has to take account of preparing for shipping.   Delivers would seem to me to be a firm statement.   (But don't hold me to that)  .

Water damage isn't covered by warranty, but you could always purchase a refurbished device from Apple.
