What exactly happens when you Delete Attachments in Mail?

I am using Mail with a GMail account and have set up a number of folders (labels) there. I notice that when I Delete attachments in Mail, the tendency is for the folder/label information for the message gets lost. Specifically, the original message disappears and the revised message, sans attachment, can only be found in the All Mail folder. This happens even when I delete attachments in messages that are only stored in the Inbox. Is this supposed to happen?

  • This is for Exchange 2007 but can't find a place to post it. It may apply here I don't know. What exactly happens when you suspend LCR?

OK. I searched out here and found things close to what I need: how to suspend and restore LCR but I need another answer. I have gotten a new backup solution (Unitrends) and the Microsoft exchange write appears twice. I'm guessing one is for my first storage
group and one is for LCR. Anyway it appears the software is trying to use the replication writer which is causing my backups to fail. Here is my question: what EXACTLY happens when I suspend the LCR (Suspend Storage Group Copy)? Does this affect regular exchange/email
transport and receiving at all? Basically if I disable it will mail continue to flow as normal with no adverse affects? And what EXACTLY happens when I disable LCR. What if I decide I don't need it. Will disabling it affect normal email operations? Basically
will either of these options in ANY way interfere with normal mail flow? Thanks.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, suspending LCR doesn't affect the mail flow. If there is no need for LCR, you can disable LCR, and then please manually delete the LCR storage group and databaase fles.
For more information about LCR, please refer to
    Local Continuous Replication.

  • What exactly happens when you cancel and resubscribe?

Hi all. I have an extremely simple question -- in fact, I think I already know the answer, I just want a little reassurance. Unfortunately, Adobe has absolutely embarrassingly abysmal customer service to complement some pretty great products. Honestly -- I've spoken to three people by phone who barely speak English and who sound like they're in the midst of a wind tunnel. Went online to chat, and the guy didn't understand my exceedingly simple question. I said the question was about cancellation; he attempted to transfer me to tech support. I told him I'd been on the phone three times with no success. He asked me if I wanted to talk to someone on the phone. Christ's sake, Adobe. Clean that mess up, it's shameful.
Anyway, all I want to know is what exactly happens if I cancel a single-app Creative Cloud membership, and then resubscribe shortly after? I currently have a month-to-month subscription to Premiere CC. My payment is due on the 4th, but I'm broke. So I assume I have to cancel. However, I plan on resubscribing about a week later, once I have some money.
So are my projects in any way, shape or form affected? Will Premiere CC simply stop me from accessing the program until I pay up and then re-grant access when I resubscribe? I mean, what exactly happens?
That's all I want to know. I'm in the middle of editing two large projects, so I'm just looking for some simple peace of mind. Thanks in advance.

  • Hey there, was just wondering what exactly happens when you reset iPhone network settings

Looking to reset my network settings was wondering how this might effect my iPhone.

    As already provided:
This will clear your current cellular and Wi-Fi network settings, including saved networks, Wi-Fi passwords, and VPN settings.
    And, that's all that happens.

  • What happens when you delete a linked server?

What actually happens when you deleted a linked server? SSMS says deleting a remote server deletes all remote logins defined for that server..Are you sure you want to delete this linked server and all remote logins defined
    for this server?
How can I see the remote logins for the linked server?
    thanks in advance

So this is the problem with using the UI - you don't really know what is going on under the hood.
You can see your linked servers in sys.servers. You can see mapped logins in sys.linked_logins.
You drop a server with sp_dropserver, and if I remember correctly it also drops the logins.
Nothing is ever touched on the remote data source. it is a purely local operation.

  • What exactly happens when datafile is put in backup mode ?

    Dear Friend,
i want to know what exactly happens when a datafile is put in backup mode ?
that is what happens between Begin Backup ........................... end backup
    with regards.

When u start hot backup via 'alter tablespace begin backup', the tablespace headers are marked as such. The dirty data buffers that belong to the database files are written out to the files and the datafiles are check pointed. The headers are updated with SCN @ the time the backup commences. It is the data file headers that were not updated until the 'alter tablespace end backup' is issued.
The database files still continue to be read and updated. Recovery will commence from the scn written at the commencement of the backup and it is the changes written to the redo\archive logs during the backup that are rolled forward during recovery
    Cheers,

  • What will happen when I delete songs

I have an older gateway computer and with a 20 Gig hard drive. I just got a 60 Gig ipod (3X's the computer). My music library is 7 gigs. I want to sync up with itunes and transfer everything over to the ipod and then delete most the music off the computer to create more room. Will I run into any complications the next time i sync up with itunes and most the songs are gone. I am afraid to try this before I know what is going to happen.

You have to set up your iPod preferences in iTunes to update songs manually. If you are set to automatically update iPod and you delete songs from your computer then you will lose them on your iPod.
Now you will also have a problem with manual updates if you lose some or all of your music on your iPod. Unless you have the music backed up somewhere or have all the CDs to import music again this will be a problem. You will not be able to recover purchased music unless on a CD somewhere.
You might consider buying a bigger harddrive (Seagate has some great deals these days) or an external hard drive.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

  • What exactly happens when i sign out?

do everything i have checked on icloud, when i create new vcard, note, cal-date, do those new creations get deleted if i sign out of icloud? what if there's a icloud crash, are all those new files lost?
or will time machine back ALL files up?

When you sign out, you disconnect your Mac from your iCloud data.  You will be given an option to keep some data locally on your Mac (like contacts and calendars), but not all.  The data remains in iCloud and will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.  Whether or not you can restore all your data from Time Machine is not clear; and doing so is difficult.  The best thing to do is to create local backups of your data from time to time, which are then backed up by Time Machine.
You can back up your calendar(s) by selecting them and going to File>Export>Export.  You can back up your contacts by going to Fine>Export>Export vCard (or Contacts Archive if you have lots of groups).
To create local copies of your notes, you have to sign out of your iCloud account in System Preferences, choosing Delete at all of the prompts (your data will still be in iCloud), then in Notes go to File>New Folder (name it something like "Notes Backup").  This will create the folder under On My Mac.  Then sign back into your account in System Preferences to sync back all your iCloud data (after a brief delay as it downloads).  You can then option-drag and drop your iCloud notes to your On My Mac backup folder.  These notes in the On My Mac folder will be stored on your Mac (not in iCloud) and will be backed up by Time Machine.

  • What actually happens when you "Manually manage music and videos"?

I'm afraid to try this option on my iPod, and here's why:
I am currently traveling for three months, and before I just left, I synced up my 80GB iPod with all the music I wanted (via playlists) and all my podcasts. I will not have access to my home computer for at least three months. However, I'd like to be able to sync up podcasts whenever I am at a computer that has iTunes installed (friends houses, etc..).
Someone told me I could do this by setting my iPod to "Manually manage...", and just add the podcasts I want, manually. Sounds good, but I'm afraid to try for fear that it will actually reset my iPod which would be disastrous since I don't have access to my music library on my computer.
Can someone reassure me that this won't happen?
    -tanzbodeli

What I meant was, what will happen to the playlists, music, videos and podcasts already on my iPod when I change from 'syncing' my iPod to selecting "Manually manage..."? Will they be wiped out and my iPod given a clean slate, or will they remain there and I can then add to them?

  • What exactly happens when syncing two PCs having truly conflicting settings (not just different tabs or bookmarks to be merged)? Is one defined as a master?

While different tabs or bookmarks can simply be added/merged (see question of handysubman one year ago), more differentiated rules are required when conflicting settings have been defined, e.g. different starting pages, or different volumes/folders to save downloads, or different applications to open specific file types...
Is one of the machines defined as a master, or are individual conflicts left to the user to solve, or... ?

When you setup Sync you should have seen the Setup Options window. That is the "control" for which set of data to use. IOW the "Master" at time of setup when adding each "new device". After that all devices are equal partners. ''FirefoxHome on iOS devices and Firefox on Android devices vary a bit from the way the desktop versions work.
If you want different settings per device, de-select those settings from being synchronized. i.e., Preferences for Homepage, download folder, and MIME-types

  • What exactly happens when stop button of web browser is clicked?

    Hi
I have a servlet with a service method to process a form.
I submit the form and immediately click the stop button of the browser.
    What happens here?
Will the service method be invoked?
Or if it is in half way ..will it run to completion?
    Thanks

I agree with Gita_Weiner that the stop button will only affect the browser's loading of the page. I have actually faced this situation in my recent project and I would say that in case you have an insert request into some table, then the insert will succeed. The result page which is intended to be shown after servlet processing will be stopped. So you will get a connection reset by peer error message.
Hence the request will be submitted and processed to server during submit, but you might not be able to see the resultant page.
To be able to manage to hit the stop button before the browser has had a chance to get the request off needs a very quick action. And in that case the the servlet won't be run at all.
    Regards
    Rohit

  • What exactly happens when it auto syncs?

I am referring to the syncing of contacts etc upto my .Mac account.
I have all my computers set to sync each day which they duely do.
However none of them have the same information on. It would appear to actually gt a sync to happen I have to manually click sync now, then stuff comes in as well as out.
If this is the case whats the point of the auto sync?

This is the iSync forum, you'll probably get a better response in the .Mac Sync forum.

  • What exactly happens when synching photos???

Hi, I have 4000 jpegs on my ipod, (but it took days to get them on there!) I understand how they got from My pictures to my ipod. I have added 20 pictures to my huge my pictures folder. My computer is slow, I do not have a fast usb yet. I have not tried to synch in these 20 new photos yet. My question is, when I push the button to synch, do all of my photos get erased and then redeposited with the 20 new ones onto my ipod? or is the system able to recognize only the changes (additions or deletions of photos) to my my pictures folder? I have read through most of the posts and the manual, and this question was never really answered. Thanks!

When the iPod syncs it compares what is in iTunes or what is in your photo folder with what is on the iPod. It only makes changes to the iPod when it finds an audio or picture file that's been added, deleted or been changed in some way.

  • What will happen if you delete an iCloud account on a device that has the same iCloud account on a different device?

  • What exactly happens when I do a Factory data reset?

I want to revert my Xperia Active to the state where in it was how I bought it. All my added apps removed, all the default apps are reinstalled, the SD clear from any extra settings that other apps may have left behind while uninstalling. All in all I want to "reformat" it. Will Factory data reset do this?

    Question 1:
Will the default apps on the Active (aka the SportyPalPro and friends) be reinstalled? I know that I can always redownload them from the market, but as i said, just like how it was bought. The Factory data reset displays a checkbox that says it would wipe out even the SD card. So what about that?
    Question 2:
I followed this tutorial (http://androidforums.com/3529664-post5.html) to free up some load off my internal space. Does this have any gravity on the Factory resetting? In essence, I remapped Android to make it install the apps to SD by default.
