What EXACTLY is different in iPod software 1.4.1?

I don't see any difference between iPod software 1.4 and 1.4.1, so does anyone know exactly what they put in 1.4.1?
Dell Inspiron 1100   Windows XP   iPod mini 2nd gen. 4GB

You are using a Smart playlist for all of these, correct?
It will be purple and not blue.
The one going from 4 > 5 Stars disappeared off the 4-Star list, and didn't appear on the 5-Star list. The song going from 5 > 4 Stars is still on the 5-Star list and didn't go anywhere.
Sounds like the the Live Updating is not checked on the 5 star playlist.
Is my iPod also supposed to automatically update time-sensitive playlists?
If Live Updating is checked on the Smart playlist, it should update.
For example, I have a playlist of songs I haven't heard in a week. The next day, should it add/remove songs according to them being played, and add more songs as another day goes by?
Yes. Actually, it should add/remove at the minute it was played. It goes by date down to the minute. For example, if it was last played at 2:31 PM on Friday, it should show up again at 2:32 PM the next Friday.

  • What exactly does "updating your ipod" mean?

Yes... like, is it everytime you load new songs? or... what... thanks for your answers!

there's a couple of senses in which it's used around here.
one sense is "transferring music/videos/notes/etc to the ipod with itunes". you'll also sometimes see that referred to as "syncing". that's the sense that is being used in this document:
    iPod: Artwork missing from songs
the other main sense is "upgrading the ipod software" ... that's what you do when you run the ipod updater, plug in the ipod, and click the "update" button. that's the sense that is being used in this document:

  • What is the different between ipod touch 2nd generation and 3rd generation?

    Hi all
I bought a 3rd generation 8GB ipod touch for SGD$308 and the reseller selling the 2nd generation at SGD$288.
I read on the article apparently for the 3rd generation only the 16GB and 32GB ipod touch have voice command and 50% faster processor speed.
My question is what exactly is the difference for the 8GB 3rd generation one as compare with the 2nd generation.

i just bought an ipod touch 8 GB 3G from best buy yesterday ( i wanted to get the 32 GB one, but they didnt have any). I asked the guy at Best Buy if the 3 models (8, 32, 64) were the same (same processor speed etc) except for flash drive size and that the 32 and 64 models came with a mic. He said yes, and now i find out that the one i bought has a slower processor than the 32 and 64 version . I already opened it and added 2 songs and a couple of apps, can i take it back and buy a 32 one since i was given false information ?

  • Firefox upgrade kept it a secret what, exactly was different

I just checked to see if there was an update to Firefox V:5. The check said there was, but gave me no useful information about what was different. So I told the program to download the changes.
It downloaded the changes, and promptly installed them with out further ado. All of a sudden I was on Firefox V:6, with no warning at all, or at least nothing I considered a warning.
    HUH??
The last couple upgrades have been major to major, with few (best I remember, '''no''') minor point releases.
Is Firefox really THAT insecure these days?

PS: I just went through the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/features/ Features] page, and I couldn't find a thing that was new in V:6. Either there really wasn't anything new, or it was so minor I didn't notice it at all.
Is there any place where the Feature changes are listed by when installed?
Or is there really nothing what so ever new in version 6?

  • What exactly does restoring my iPod do to my music?

I know that it says all my songs and data will be lost on my iPod but...will that also wipe out my iTunes folder? It shouldn't, but I want to be absolutely sure.

will that also wipe out my iTunes folder?
No. Restoring only formats the iPod and reinstalls the iPod OS.
Nothing is changed on the computer.

  • Downfalls of iPod Software Version 1.2???

What are the downfalls of iPod Software Version 1.2?

This is in regards to the iPod software 1.2 on the older 5th generation iPod Video.
    1. Clicker problem not solved -- unlike the iPod Nano, the Clicker settings are On, Off, Clicker, Earphones. On the iPod Video, it's only On or Off.
    2. No search function
    3. The "floating" alphabets when scrolling quickly down the Artist or Song list is only worthwhile for languages in Alphabets. This display method does not work for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and a multitude of other non-Latin alphabet languages.
    4. iCal problem not fixed. iCal has a location field. This location field does not transfer to the iPod. This is a problem for those of us who put the meeting place in the "location field".
That's it from me so far.

  • What DVD to iPod software are you using?

I know this topic has probably been beat to death, but I'm just curious. BTW, I did a search for my questions as well!
I've tried PQ DVD to iPod and Super DVD to iPod and they both have + and - about them. It seems like the PQ software is a little easier to use and you can actually control the DVD where with the Super software you can't. The Super doesn't have the progress bar like the PQ one and I find that very helpfull! Also with the PQ one you can actually control the DVD menu through this software and can crop the DVD. I did find that the Super one had a better picture without changing any settings. That seems like the determing factor for me. I did change some of the setting on the PQ one and it really didn't get any better. If someone could help me with these settings, it would definately make my decision easier. Basically I like the PQ one better if I could only get better resolution. Sometimes it just isn't all that clear as far as the pixels are concerned or maybe I'm just asking for too much with this iPod?
I'm ready to buy some type of DVD to iPod software so what exactly do I have to change to get the resolution better on each software?
    Thanks!

No I haven't tried those and I'm sure there are many different ways to go about it. I'm really not interested in trying alot of different softwares, I would just rather find one and stick to it and learn as much as I can about how to use it. I'm going to convert a few more DVD's and see if I have the same problems with the pixels. I currently have two different comedian DVD's installed in my 60gb with the same software, one looks very good and the other is where you can see the pixels in the backround. It may just be the backround on the stage he is on because I don't have that problem with the other DVD. It may also be the DVD I'm sure.

My iPod touch 2nd generation forced a software update to apply to my ipod via itunes. what effect did this update have on my ipod software, as i still cannot download some apps?
I would appreciate your support to help me figure out if this problem is solvable.
The error comes about whilst trying to download certain apps from the app store, including CSR Racing which when i tap on install a message box pops up saying "This App Is Incompatible With This iPod touch", another time for a different app it came up with a message saying "This app requires OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics capability.
    Main questions:
What was achieved from the latest forces iPod touch 2g update (17/07/2012)?
    solvable problem(s)?
Will i need to buy a more recent model of iPod touch if this isnt fixable?
ps. My iPod has lasted me 3 years so far so i am not suprised, still in good nick!
    thanks, Sim x

i saw something on itunes just a moment ago saying iPod 1g can download 3.1 update for £2.99, will this help with the compatability of the csr racing app at all with that individual problem? |http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2052] (html for this)
i didnt think graphics could change via software updates

  • HT4859 when you go to do this it say that your iPod or whichever device will no longer be backed up to the computer it is currently backed up to, what exactly does that mean? Will i not be able to sync my iPod from that computer?

when you go to do this it say that your iPod or whichever device will no longer be backed up to the computer it is currently backed up to, what exactly does that mean? Will i not be able to sync my iPod from that computer? Please help me and answer either or both question detailed thanks

Normally when you sync your device it is automatically backed up to your computer as the first step in the sync process.  When you choose to start backing up your device to iCloud, iTunes stops automatically backing it up on your computer when you sync.  That's what the message is telling your; that you are now backing up to iCloud and not to your computer each time you sync.  You can still manually back up to your computer any time you want by going to the Summary tab and clicking on Back Up Now under Manually Back Up and Restore.
You can still sync your device as you did before, it just will no longer back up automatically when you do.

  • What exactly are the updates good for on an ipod

I ask because mine is windows format, and im having trouble transferring all the metadata off my ipod with senuti to a back up so that i can reformat the ipod to mac and then sync in my senuti backed up library. I was wondering if anyone knows what exactly are the updates that you get. my ipod is 1.2 5thgen.
If i were to have the latest update would i be able to see album cover art view when the ipod is plugged into itunes? I noticed that i can see that view in library mode but not in ipod mode. (my pod isnt synced)...
so what are these updates good for?

    hey thanks for your reply.
I do have it set to manual and i can see the art on the ipod by itself, but even with manual transfer itunes wont let me view the artwork modes unless i am playing off my computers library (which doesn't have the songs on my ipod on it). I called apple earlier today and some tech support guy claimed that itunes does not support this feature. Is this correct? can anyone out there see artwork modes on an unsynced ipod through itunes?

  • Hi, i had to restore my ipod 5G and it says its in recovery mode and its saying ipod software downloading but when its done it says it timed out i tried like 5 times what should i do

hi, i had to restore my ipod 5G and it says its in recovery mode and its saying ipod software downloading but when its done it says it timed out i tried like 5 times what should i do

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer
