What exactly is the issue with CS5 and the retina display?

Just picked up a late 2013 MBP with retina display and have PS CS5 running on it.
What is the exact issue that I should be having when it comes to running CS5 on these machines ? Is it just that the UI looks fuzzy? Other than that it seems to run fine and my photos look fine also.

That is what I am asking...Like I said, I am able to open CS5 on my new retina mbp and edit image files with no issue..the only thing that I notice that seems off is the text of the UI seems "fuzzy"....
So, what I am asking is what exactly is the problem supposed to be that I should be seeing?

TS1702 Recently my iPad is having connection issues with iTunes and the app store. I always get the message, "Can't connect to iTunes"...can anyone suggest a solution?

I have tried everything. Wifi is working, I can use safari with no problems, I've tried restarting iPad, I've tried signing out then back into iTunes...and a reboot of my iPad. Nothing works!!!! Oh and I checked for updates and everything is up to date.

What is the issue with cloud and syncing to laptop duplication of data

it is quite evident there is a major issued with syncing iphone with icloud to my macbook pro. I continue to get duplication of groups and numbers. Someone is not communicating the proper was to do this process.

iCloud will sync whatever you have set up, a e you sure it's an iCloud issue or a "view issue"?
What can happen on your Mac is that it keeps any "On My mac" contacts in your "on my mac" contact list. Their will also be a "iCloud" view that will represent the On My Mac contacts and your iPhone contacts. If your view is too wide open you maybe seeing "on my mac" and iCloud" contacts.
If your iPhone conatcts were slightly different than your Mac contacts they will be duplicated.
I found the easiet thing to do was to go to iCloud.com, log in and see what is in the iCloud contact list. If you have contacts from both your iPhone and your Mac then you are in great shape.
I cleaned things up in iCloud .com because I only want to have one contact list across my devices.

Issue with runbook and the "&"

I was working on a Service request/ Runbook for creating a new Shared mailbox in exchange online. Everything worked fine when I submitted the request(s). Then I had another team member try it out on a real request and things did not work as expected.
Once the request was submitted and approved I would see that the runbook would attempt to start. But there were no log entries in the runbook designer and the console showed that the job had started but there were no instance of the runbook running.
No errors, No Events, No indication of what was happening.
I scrapped the runbook and recreated it as well as all the service manger stuff that when along with. I tested it and all was well. Had co-worker test and then FUBAR.
Long story short:
The service request prompts for mailbox name and purpose. The runbook get the mailbox name as a parameter the purpose goes into the description of the SR.
So when I was testing it I was using testxxx as the mailbox name (works fine). When my co-worker tried the mailbox name was T&E ... and this would cause the problem. As I mentioned above the runbook would appear to start then nothing.
It all came down the "&" that was being passed to the runbook.
Has anybody seen this behavior before ? If so what is happening with the "&" that is causing the issue?

The Problem with & is caused by SC Service Manager. Orchestrator is accepting the & as input for a parameter from WebServices.

Windows 7 Firewire Issues with CS5 and ADVC-700

I've got a Windows 7, 64 bit system with CS 5. In dubbing out for playback, I route a firewire cable from the PC to an Canopus/Grass Valley ADVC-700. Both units are less than a year old and are having issues with "black outs" during the dub out process. I've read different things about Windows 7 having issues with firewire drivers. After speaking to someone with Adobe, I've changed my firewire driver to Legacy. That hasn't helped.
The ADVC-700 has s-video out running to preview monitor and BNC out/XLR audio running to my playback system for ingest. When the video goes to black (usually for a 1/2 second), the audio drops out with it.
I've reset the settings on the ADVC-700 with no luck.
Any suggestions on a fix or something else to try?

I did test with a JVC GY-HD200U and there weren't any performance issues which led me back to the PC or other on the PC.
The system is running Windows 7, 64 bit with CS5 Production Premium following an upgrade from the CS4 version.

I've got the legacy drivers for the firewire card. I've checked to make sure all of the power save options are off along with all screen saver options. I've cleaned my Adobe Cache out, deleted my Adobe Preferences, went from the 4pin/6pin cable to a 6pin/6pin cable to feed the ADVC-700 from the PC, reset the ADVC 700 back to factory specs...all of this with no luck.
The problem seems to be worse since the move from CS4 to CS5 but it's hard to tell.
I've also hooked up an older ADVC-500 unit with the same output results.
I think I noted in the first post that this is happening on two indentical systems with the same cabling and programs and the same ADVC-700 boxes.
I've been told by Adobe to clean my C; drive and reload the OS and Adobe CS5 as I should have done that when I upgraded instead of just upgrading the system from CS4 to CS5 using the discs. I haven't done this yet as I have to budget time/workflow to accomodate.

Issues with CS5 and video quality

New to this forum so I would just like to say hello first of all
Over the last 4 years or so I have been using CS3 even though I tried to upgrade to CS5 some time back when it first came out. I had a few codec issues and slow rendering times on my old system so I returned to CS3 and that is where I have been until I recieved my new system a couple of weeks back. This is the first project where I have come to use it in anger and the issue I have is with the quality of the video in the output window and this is reflected also in the rendered video file. Had a look at lots of settings and nothing seems to be screaming out at me. As you can see from the image below the text is bearly readable. I am working in PAL 4.3 aspect ratio and the white printer paper moves up the screen with a dot matrix noise in the background. However, the text is never really very clear when its moving or stationary. On my old system with CS3 it was 100% better. Can anybody make any suggestions?

In the info that Jim suggested, be sure to tell us all about the Image (assume that you have animated a Still Image with Keyframes?) that you are using - pixel x pixel dimension, format, everything you can, please.

Prinitng issue with CS5 and Epson pro3800 printer

CS5 will not hold printer driver settings after leaving driver setup screen. Eg., after setting ICM and choosing Adobe RGB color space and icc profile from menu, when you click OK, Adobe screen reverts to Photoshop adjusts colors and not printer adjust colors as it should. If you change the setting manually, when you renetr driver setup, it now shows 'no color management and not ICM as it should. This does not occur with CS3 or 4. Any help is appreciated.

I don't have this problem but i can tell you printing out of CS5 is a mess nothing works the way it should....check out my forum i started... right now i just chucked cs5 and went back to cs3

Quality issues with Pre and the Touchstone, are you kidding?

I´m really pissed off Palm and the quality of their products:
I got yesterday my third Palm Pre, first one had the oreo-effect (it was possible to move the slider arround 0.5 cm to the right and left), the second one had a problem on the display inside, (difficult to explain was looking like the display comes off the cover), and the third one has 6 pixels not working and the power button is shaking and it seems I will loose it in the next days.
The Touchstone causes problems, if the battery is full, every 10 seconds it is starting to charge again. Thanks for that, my battery has now 250 loading cycles in one night. Had to use some tapes and put it on the stone and now it is working, but this can´t be the solution for that..
Beside that, the webOS is funny and I really like it, but it is a shame. Apple did a lot wrong with the first iPhone, like missing copy&paste and MMS, but the Pre? One notification sound for SMS, Email, Chat, System sounds? Are you kidding? A 50,- Euro-Mobile can make it better. In 1.3.1 it is possible to select a ringtone for SMS. Great! And for Email? I don´t know if I got a SMS, Email, System hint or Chatmessage..
And I found a really anoying bug right now: if the battery is empty, it looses the time, if the network time is set to off. So my Pre shows me 30 min in the past (actual time on the pre 22.59)

What's the deal with Intel and the new kernel?

I have trouble understanding the whole deal behind Intel's video drivers and the new kernel. What doesn't work and why? Could someone please try to explain what the problem is in a way so that a newbie like me can understand it?

Intel and Linux are transitioning to a new graphics system. We're in the middle of the transition, so everything's kinda suckish right now. Old kernel and drivers are better, development kernel and drivers are almost as good, and they will get much better soon.

How do I view only the desktop with icons and the finder?

I have a hot corner set up to show the desktop.. in Snow Leopard when I exposed the desktop and then clicked on the finder in the dock *just* the finder would show.
Now, with Lion, when I click on the finder it comes into view but all the other open applications come sweeping back in hiding the desktop.
Can I change this back to the way it was before? Or is there another sneaky quick way to show only the desktop and the finder? Set up an entirely different "desktop" in mission control dedicated only to having nothing open in it?
In short: I need a fast way to drag icons from the desktop into folders in the finder. Also, this is driving me nuts.

If you can see a patch of Desktop, with a program (any program other than Finder) window active, hold down both Option and Command and click that patch of Desktop. This will auto-hide all windows for all other programs and switch focus to the Finder/Desktop at the same time.
This works when going from any active program to another, except that the Desktop itself will not get hidden (open Finder folders will get hidden).
To bring a program's windows back to visible status, just click the program's icon in the Dock. For open Finder windows which are hidden, just click the Desktop (plain click).
If you want to hide the windows of just one program, with it the active program hold down just the Option key and click in the window of another program (the Desktop or a folder window counts for this purpose). All windows of the original program will be hidden, and focus will switch to the second program.

The Index page will not show the title with Bookmarking and the Facebook "like" or "share"

When you utilize the Facebook Like button on your Muse created web pages, it carries the title over (from the Page Properties) and works fine, except for the Index. This also applies to bookmarking pages. When the Facebook like is used (and the sub window for Facebook opens) it is titled “Home” that’s it. When the index page is bookmarked it also says “Home”. Why won’t the whole title be used? Is there any way to correct this?

Photoshop issues with MBR and LED Cinema Display

Hi,
I have my MBR 15" connected to a 24" LED Cinema Display. In Photoshop, when dragging windows to the secondary display (the Cinema Display) they turn immediately black. If I drag them back to the main monitor (the MBR) they will show up normally.
Now, if I change the main and secondary displays (1st-CD; 2nd-MBR), this will happen again on the secondary.
I really need to have both displays working with Photoshop. Does anyone know a workaround to this?

Sorry, forgot about that. It's Photoshop CS6, already updated to be Retina capable (version 13.0.2).

Major CalDav and Syncing Issues with Ical and Address Book

As a CEO and business owner - I loved the move over to Mac after the intel chip as installed. Yet, the issue of working on a Mac for business comes down to the operating system. Up to Snow Leopard I was very pleased.... since Lion it has gone downhill.   I upgraded to Mountain Lion and many of the issues with speed and problems with mail were addressed. Yet, it appears Apple has made a bad decision with regard to synciing to other programs.
I was told it has cut out syncing capablities for Address book and Ical (I assume other programs). This has caused great issues for The Omni Group, File Maker and Market Cirlce (creators of Daylite) and a lot of angst for me as a business owner!
To top this off - it appears CalDav is not bi-directional and has issues. In other words, it does not work as it should.
I am not sure what Apple was thining when it stopped allowing internal sync between programs. Yet, CalDav and CardDav are not always the answers!
I hope the CalDav issues are being cleaned up and if anyone from Apple wishes to comment on this I would appreciate it. I have tried to talk to support but the powers to be are the ones calling the shots on software design. Support can't fix what is broken the program.
Again, I hope Apple revisits syncing. Maybe the concern is security but it is MY DATA not yours. I just want the programs to work so I can make sales and support my customers efficiently.   You have made it hard to do this with changes.

As an IT consultant, i'm in agreement with Mr Utts.    The promise of "it just works" died with Steve Jobs.   Mac OS has been in freefall since 10.5 .    I need a fully functional OS, not an iPad on my desk. ( this means YOU Forstall !! )
Why break Samba ( a standard ), why break WebDAV ( a standard ), why break CalDAV ( a standard )??    Apple has done ALL of these things and they seem to be doing it on purpose.
The Apple "ecosystem" is just fine, but removing functionality as fast as you can, and removing interoperablity as fast as you can... if Apple products ONLY work within the ecosystem... people can and will leave Apple.    You've already run off the business users by refusing to make a real Server or real Server software.   You ran off the video user with Final Cut Pro X.   Dumbing down (and breaking) the OS is running off the IT User.
Mac OS used to easily walk the line of "hard core enough for a Unix Guru, easy enough for your Mom". Now they just want the Moms.
And i disagree, we are ALL "qualified to say what Apple might do about this...", they will do nothing.   They don't beleive they have made a mistake. They beleive WE are the problem by stubbornly insisting that things that used to work should continue to work.

MPS 200 with J 4.6. We are having issues with encryption and unable to install latest, J 4.7.2

We have an MPS 200 with J 4.6. We are having issues with encryption and the tech assigned to our TAC case informed us that version J 4.7.2 would resolve the issue per release notes (confirmed). Unfortunately we have been unable to install latest, J 4.7.2. Every time we select the 4000j472.tar.gz file, the MPS displays software upgrade failed. We have used IE 8, 9 and 11 and have opened them up as much as possible, still no joy. We have unzipped the file, but do not know which file to select for the install.
Would appreciate any assist.

As the others have suggested - download the file again - and check that the MD5 Checksum (with something like WinMD5) of what you have downloaded matches what it should be (for J4.7.2 is b328946e6ca24f181c937d90d8e5cc12). Then upload the .tar.gz file as downloaded (wihtout extracting it).
