What exactly sap xi support work..?

Hello Folks,
Can anyone tell me the what will be the exact job of an a xi consultant in support period of a project.?
I mean what will be his roles n responsibilities in the support work of a project.
Kindly give me the information.
Thanks in advance.
Srinivas Reddy

Hi,
The support projects mainly have the work of closly monitoring the channels and some times evaluating the performance. You may be required to send some status report on performance.
Some of your chief task may be like monitoring the queue SMQ1, SMQ2.
And checking in SXMB_MONI if at scheduled times ..files/data is getting  processed properly or not .. you need to check the sender and receiver channels.
You also required to check the time taken for processing and solve any issues if there is any problem due to data in the interfaces.
Please refer the links below and do search in SDN .. there are lots of similar topics discussed.

  • Nv driver has no 3d support: What exactly am I giving up?

I am currently running arch on a system with an nvidia graphics card using the latest proprietary driver, but I would like to know what I would be missing if I used the "nv" driver instead. I know the nv driver has no 3D support, but what exactly does that mean? No Compiz? Pfft. I use XMonad and the most graphic-intensive thing I do is watch YouTube videos. Will I be able to do that with 2D only? What kinds of things does 3D support actually give?

Ok. I don't even use compositing since I don't use transparency anywhere, I don't use xscreensaver (I just turn off the display), and I don't play games on Linux. Awesome!
I'll keep an eye on nouveau. It seems a bit too early for everyday use.
The main reason I wanted to know this is that I actually have two graphics cards in my machine, one which uses the nvidia driver and the other which uses the open source intel driver. It would be easier to make a script and switch between these two if both drivers were open source and didn't conflict with each other. Hopefully this works well.
Also, I was considering trying FreeBSD out for everyday desktop usage. I've heard a lot about it and it's just left me confused. The thing I do know is that the proprietary nvidia driver is not supported on amd64, which is a huge shame, but the open source drivers are.
Thanks for your help! I'm off to try the open source drivers... tomorrow.

  • What exactly is support for "personal domains"?

From what I gather from clicking on "setup personal domain" in iWeb is that you have to have a .Mac account for this to work?
Is this true? [just to make sure]
I was hoping for iWeb to allow for FTP uploading to your own server ...

So what exactly is the new support for "personal domain names" then? I've been able to publish to a folder and ftp to my domain all long.
You have been ftping to your host, not your "domain." "Personal domain names" enables you to use .Mac as your host and thus use direct publishing while keeping your personal url/domain name (instead of the .Mac url, web.mac.com/username). In the past you could already do this by arranging domain forwarding and perhaps masking at the place where you had your personal domain name sitting. The new .Mac feature provides a better way to do this.
I want to use iWeb's "direct publishing" feature but not have my site at .mac
That is not possible in iWeb 08. Many have asked for it since iWeb 06 came out, and Apple did not include it, so I would not expect it to be added via an update later.

  • How to forward support messages to SAP in non-working time automatically?

Hi colleagues and Happy New Year!
I have a question: how to forward support messages to SAP at non-working time automatically?
    Details:
when a support message is created at working time it shouldn't leave my system, but when
a support message is created at non working time, for example, on saturday night it should be sent to SAP automatically. Where in the system I can find the options to customize it to provide these requirements?

  • What exactly is a Carbon Copy Cloner and does it work on iMac Intel?

A friend of mine recommended to me that carbon copy cloner is the best way to back up data including applications and that it is a freeware downloadable via their website. Can anyone explain to me (using layman's language) what exactly it is and give me a step by step procedure on what I have to do to make it work? Also, does it work on iMac Intel and if so, would I have to set anything differently??
FYI, I do have a La Cie firewire drive.

Did you check out their website? It really has a lot of info, but here it is in a nutshell.
CCC is a cloning software tool. It will make an exact - and bootable - copy of every last bit and byte on your internal drive. You can then use that FireWire drive to boot up your Mac, or restore the data from it in case of an emergency, drive replacement or failure.
It is not universal yet, but it does run through Rosetta.
Download the program and there is a PDF file with all the step by step instructions, but it is really easy to use.
BTW, LaCie has a program that is very similar called SilverKeeper.

  • My new ipod classic does not work anymore! The music stopped and the display is dead. What now, besides calling support?

My new ipod classic does not work anymore! The music stopped and the display is dead. What now, besides calling support? Useless to say my PC didn't recognize the Ipod anymore either.

Anton, I wish I could help. I had an old iPod Classic (60 KB) as a gift but it went dead, I dropped it a few times accidentally, and it sat carefully saved until I had sufficient resources, energy and time to get the matter addressed. In my case, I actually took the thing (after making sure it was charged) to an Apple store and one of the geniuses at the genius bar at the back of the store took it and did a few things (unseen and un-noted) with his fingers and handed it to me with a sly smile. Voila, the thing was functional. I got a re-functionalized iTunes account and store access when I bought my iMac. I did lose a few tunes along the way because it didn't recognize my new iMac as the source (my old dead PC laptop), but I have a more functional memory than the iPod and recovered them all in other ways. The whole thing is humming better than ever. At over 11 gb full, I have 4.2 days worth of portable listening. Be patient; it took me four years to get musical nirvana in a pocket, but you'll get there faster. Call support.

  • What exactly does the Work Offline option do in a shared review hosted on an internal server?

    Hi,
What exactly does the Work Offline option do in a shared review hosted on an internal server?
I *think* it simply disconnects you from the review server. I'm not sure why one would want to do this.
I'm trying to recommend an offline workflow for reviewers who may not be able to access a shared review hosted on our internal server (for example, while traveling). These reviewers would like to be able to comment on an offline version of the review PDF and then publish their comments when they can again connect to the Internet/internal server.
It doesn't seem like "Work Offline"  is the right fit for this scenario. Instead, should reviewers save a local copy to their hard drive, comment on it, and then, when reconnected to the Internet, open the local copy, click Reconnect to Server, and then click Publish Comments?

Thanks, Dave. So for my hypothetical traveling reviewer, it would be reasonable to suggest the following steps for an offline workflow?
    1. Connect to the shared review.
    2. Choose Work Offline from the Server Status menu.
    3. Close and save the review PDF locally.
    4. Comment while traveling.
    5. When back in the office, open the local copy of the review PDF.
    6. Click Reconnect to Server.
    7. Click Publish Comments.

  • What SAP component support Flash Island in Web Dynpro for ABAP?

    Hi  Experts,
What SAP component support Flash Island in Web Dynpro for ABAP? I don't find flash island control to place it in the view.
    Thanks,
    Duy

FlashIsland is a native UI element like table or image - not a reusable component like ALV.  What release level is your system?  FlashIsland is only available on NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 1 and higher.
Also the FlashIsland UI element must be a root UI element. Therefore it has be created in its own view.  Right mouse click on the ROOTUIELMENT in the UI element hierarchy and choose Swap UI Element Definition.

  • What exactly are Field symbols?

    Hi SDN,
    What exactly are Field symbols?
I have read they are not pointers then what are they?
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi
    see this
    Field Symbols
Field symbols are placeholders or symbolic names for other fields. They do not physically reserve space for a field, but point to its contents. A field symbol cam point to any data object. The data object to which a field symbol points is assigned to it after it has been declared in the program.
Whenever you address a field symbol in a program, you are addressing the field that is assigned to the field symbol. After successful assignment, there is no difference in ABAP whether you reference the field symbol or the field itself. You must assign a field to each field symbol before you can address the latter in programs.
Field symbols are similar to dereferenced pointers in C (that is, pointers to which the content operator * is applied). However, the only real equivalent of pointers in ABAP, that is, variables that contain a memory address (reference) and that can be used without the contents operator, are reference variables in ABAP Objects.
All operations programmed with field symbols are applied to the field assigned to it. For example, a MOVE statement between two field symbols moves the contents of the field assigned to the first field symbol to the field assigned to the second field symbol. The field symbols themselves point to the same fields after the MOVE statement as they did before.
You can create field symbols either without or with type specifications. If you do not specify a type, the field symbol inherits all of the technical attributes of the field assigned to it. If you do specify a type, the system checks the compatibility of the field symbol and the field you are assigning to it during the ASSIGN statement.
Field symbols provide greater flexibility when you address data objects:
If you want to process sections of fields, you can specify the offset and length of the field dynamically.
You can assign one field symbol to another, which allows you to address parts of fields.
Assignments to field symbols may extend beyond field boundaries. This allows you to address regular sequences of fields in memory efficiently.
You can also force a field symbol to take different technical attributes from those of the field assigned to it.
The flexibility of field symbols provides elegant solutions to certain problems. On the other hand, it does mean that errors can easily occur. Since fields are not assigned to field symbols until runtime, the effectiveness of syntax and security checks is very limited for operations involving field symbols. This can lead to runtime errors or incorrect data assignments.
While runtime errors indicate an obvious problem, incorrect data assignments are dangerous because they can be very difficult to detect. For this reason, you should only use field symbols if you cannot achieve the same result using other ABAP statements.
For example, you may want to process part of a string where the offset and length depend on the contents of the field. You could use field symbols in this case. However, since the MOVE statement also supports variable offset and length specifications, you should use it instead. The MOVE statement (with your own auxiliary variables if required) is much safer than using field symbols, since it cannot address memory beyond the boundary of a field. However, field symbols may improve performance in some cases.

    6. ... LIKE LINE OF s

    8. ... STRUCTURE s DEFAULT wa
The syntax check performed in an ABAP Objects context is stricter than in other ABAP areas. See Cannot Use Untyped Field Symbols ad Cannot Use Field Symbols as Components of Classes.
    Effect
This statement declares a symbolic field called <fs>. At runtime, you can assign a concrete field to the field symbol using ASSIGN. All operations performed with the field symbol then directly affect the field assigned to it.
You can only use one of the additions.
    Example
Output aircraft type from the table SFLIGHT using a field symbol:
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <PT> TYPE ANY.
    DATA SFLIGHT_WA TYPE SFLIGHT.
    ASSIGN SFLIGHT_WA-PLANETYPE TO <PT>.
    WRITE <PT>.

    ... TYPE REF TO DATA

    ... TYPE LINE OF type
    Addition 5
    ... LIKE s
    Addition 6
    ... LIKE LINE OF s
    Addition 7
    ... TYPE tabkind
    Effect
You can define the type of the field symbol using additions 2 to 7 (just as you can for FORM parameters (compare Defining the Type of Subroutine Parameters). When you use the ASSIGN statement, the system carries out the same type checks as for USING parameters of FORMs.
This addition is not allowed in an ABAP Objects context. See Cannot Use Obsolete Casting for FIELD SYMBOLS.
In some cases, the syntax rules that apply to Unicode programs are different than those for non-Unicode programs. See Defining Types Using STRUCTURE.
    Effect
Assigns any (internal) field string or structure to the field symbol from the ABAP Dictionary (s). All fields of the structure can be addressed by name: <fs>-fieldname. The structured field symbol points initially to the work area wa specified after DEFAULT.
The work area wa must be at least as long as the structure s. If s contains fields of the type I or F, wa should have the structure s or at least begin in that way, since otherwise alignment problems may occur.
    Example
Address components of the flight bookings table SBOOK using a field symbol:
    DATA SBOOK_WA LIKE SBOOK.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <SB> STRUCTURE SBOOK
    DEFAULT SBOOK_WA.
    WRITE: <SB>-BOOKID, <SB>-FLDATE.

    Hi,
i am a beginer in SAP administration, users are getting this error message and i have done all my research and not able to resolve this issue. Here are the details
    SAP Version :ideas 4.7
    Database :Oracle
    OS : windows 2003
Module user is working on MM
user working on it is a Super user with all the permissions
SAP is configure to run under the  European date and decimal format.
I have never done any database administration on it, it is a new install and has been rarely used.
User creates a RFQ and when he tries saving it , seems like for the first time after either restarting the macine or restarting the service it might work and at time it might not, this is a very sporadic error and most of the times it crashes out with the message "sap system manager:work process restarted, session terminated" and kicks the user out of the session.
Below are the details of the error message from ST22 :
name of the runtime error : system_core_dumped

When connecting to OS X Macs, and Windows boxes publishing AppleTalk/AppleShare/AFP, there does not seem to be any need to have this option enabled.
However, I am in an argument with a tech support guy at the moment, who is trying to claim that unless this option is enabled, connecting via AFP [1] is not true AFP...
I know AppleTalk is a collection of protocols implemented in the 80s some time. And I know that AFP on Tiger is basically AppleShare over TCP/IP, and that AppleTalk over AppleTalk is not supported by Tiger.
I suspect the Make AppleTalk Active option is somehow related to supporting AppleTalk sharing with old Mac systems, OS9,8,7 etc. But I really need to know exactly.
    Thanks.
+[1] in this case, it is relating to sharing files between Tiger 10.4.10 systems and a Windows XP based RIP which is publishing some flavour of AppleShare.+

    Chris--
My understanding is that AppleTalk is the protocol, like TCP/IP is a protocol. That's what this page implies to me:
    http://www.protocols.com/pbook/appletalk.htm
So, at its inception, AppleTalk was a network transport protocol. There was a time when you could build an AppleTalk network without using TCP/IP, TCP/IP was only for the Internet (if you even knew what that was). You would just connect up some cables (not even ethernet, necessarily), and you'd get a network. It was pretty slow, but ethernet stuff was wicked expensive, so it didn't matter. AppleTalk handled the network transport, and AFP was a part of that.
Sometime before OS 9 came out, Apple moved the AFP part to TCP/IP. AppleTalk was still available, mostly because of the legions of people who had old printers that only had AppleTalk (I know I was one of them until March of this year, when my LaserWriter Pro 600 gave up the ghost). If I had to guess I'd guess it's been almost ten years since they moved to AFP over TCP/IP. Certainly it was before OS 9.
If you want to try connecting to the Windows Server via AppleTalk, you can try changing the URL in the dialog you get when you use the Finder's "Connect to Server..." menu item. I think, if I remember correctly, it takes this form:
    <pre class="command">afp://at/serveraddress:*/</pre>
If that doesn't work, then take out one "/" after "afp:".

I am confused about Icloud. I have a 5 year old Macbook, a 2 year old macbook and a 5 year old mac mini. What exactly do I need to do to get all this connected via Icloud. I also have an Iphone 3G. Help please! Also, I still don't understand exactly what the benefits are. At the moment it seems a lot of hassle to change a system that's been working perfectly well and that I'm very happy with. I'm not at all sure whether the mac mini (1.66 GHz INtel Core Duo) can be brought up to the relevant spec to run ICloud.  Any thoughts?

There are two aspects to iCloud.  One is simply getting an account, or migrating a mobileme account to iCloud.  The second part is using the various features of iCloud to sync contacts, calendars, use music match or photo sharing, and store iWorks documents.
First to get an iCloud account:
If you have a mobileme account, you can migrate by simply logging onto www.icloud.com (ignore any references to Lion and just click through to complete the migration).  If you have OS X Lion or an iOS 5 mobile device, you can create an iCloud account on that device using any valid AppleID.
Once you have an account, you can use JUST the mail account if you wishi - it is a standard IMAP account so you would set it up like any other IMAP email account you have, in whatever client program you use to read email.
To use the OTHER feautes of iCloud, your computers will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7).  Your iPhone 3G will never be able to use iCloud as it cannot run iOS 5 (you need a min. of an iPhone 3GS to run iOS 5).
The requirements for OS X Lion are here - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html  You need a min. of a Core 2 duo processor so you mini is not capable of running Lion.
So, in your case, the single reasons for iCloud would be if you have a mobileme account, then use the online www.icloud.com to migrate your account so you do not lose your @me.com email address.  You can use iCloud email (without using any other iCloud features) by setting it up as IMAP mail with these settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
If you want an iCloud account and do NOT already have a mobileme account, you will need to upgrade one machine at least to Lion in order to be able to create an iCloud account.
