What exactly to choose from 10.4.4?

Hey Guys,
I'm a bit confused of what to choose for updating.....there are 4 things:
Max OS X update 10.4.4 combo
Mac OS X update 10.4.4
Mac OS X server 10.4.4 combo
Mac Os X server 10.4.4
which ones should I choose?
Cheers

I don;t get it.....I updated from software update which stated: Mac Os X 10.4.4 update.........which was 26.4 MB in size. After having done this update succesfully........I ran the software updater once more and it said my software is up-to-date. Now when I look at the OS X 10.4.4 updater combo from the download list at the apple website......that is 120 MB and the regular OS X 10.4.4 updater is 55 MB.
So......am I missing something here??
Should I still download the combo updater? Won;t I overwrite my previous update and cause further problems by overwriting it?
Should I also do the server update for 10.4.4 besides? From what I understand I should not download the server combo update but the other one instead......correct?
It's pretty annoyin that software updater didn't exactly state which update it was and what was included in the update.......grmbl....
Cheers

  • What Presets to choose from PRE8?

    Preface to my questions:
The Photos are from a Canon SD600:  photos were taken at high resolution 2816 x 2112
From PSE8 Editor:  I used “process multiple files” button to reduce the size of the photos to “JPEG medium” because my system was crashing with the original photo size.  Unfortunately, I could not find what the “medium” pixel size was when I chose it.  The re-sized dimensions are now in the high 400 pixel size.
    -          Should I have chosen “JPEG large” instead?
    -          What pixel dimensions are associated with “large”?
    -     Will the "JPEG medium" sized photos view decently if the preset is set at HDV 1080i?
In the end, I want to be able to view my video on a HDTV with the best resolution possible.  From slideshow mode,
    -          my question is WHAT PRESETS should I choose under NTSC?:
    -     my HDTV is 1080p.  Does it matter if HDV 1080i is chosen?
Hard Disk, Flash Memory Camcorder Presets
    HD 1080i 30 – For video from high-definition (1920x1080), non-AVCHD hard drive or
flash memory camcorders (such as the JVC GZ-HD7).
    HD 1080i 30 (60i) – For video from high-definition (1440x1080), non-AVCHD hard
drive or flash memory camcorders that record in 60i format. (The PAL equivalent is, of
    course, 50i.)
Standard 48kHz – For video from standard-definition 4:3 hard drive camcorders as
well as video from DVDs. It is very important to use this or the following preset with
standard-de  nition MPEG or VOB sources because it will automatically reverse the
eld dominance in your video, correcting an interlacing issue that can otherwise cause
      uttering in your output videos.
Widescreen 48 kHz – For video from standard-definition 16:9 hard drive camcorders
    and video from DVDs.
    HDV Presets
    HDV 1080i 30 – For video from tape-based, high-definition HDV camcorders that
shoot full HDV at 1440x1080 pixels.
    HDV 720p 30 – For video from tape-based, high-definition HDV camcorders that
shoot full HDV at 1280x720 pixels.

The first challenge is that video from these types of still camera records as something called an MJPEG-AVI -- a format that's usually not compatible with Premiere Elements.
The second is that, according to the online specs, the highest quality video that this camera will produce is 640x480. So there's no point in working with this video as a hi-def or BluRay project.
My recommendation would be to first convert the video to a DV-AVI using Windows MovieMaker or Super, using the instructions in this article from the FAQs to the right of this forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
Then I'd recommend opening a standard DV Premiere Elements project and editing your video. Output your video as a DVD. Your disc player will do a better job of upscaling this DVD than you'll get if you try to up-rez your 640x480 video and output it as a BluRay disc.

  • My Website looks basic but i dont know what exactly is missing from my design??????

It just looks childlike ...is anyone a design expect ...my degree is hanging on this

FYI: I wasn't being mean and I'm sorry if you took it that way. Asking for private help in a general disucssion forum is generally considered bad web ettiquette.  Many people search these discussions hoping to  find answers to their own questions.  If you shephered people off group for a private consultation, the other community members  can't   benefit  from your experience.
they gave us 2 hours of tute with dreamweaver and now i have to create a website worth 25% of my grade.
Perhaps your expectations are too high.  Pros spend years learning web design.  2 hours of introductory DW training isn't much to go on.  You're certainly not capable of building  a Killer Website yet, so relax.  Basic is good. And I'm sure your instructor knows and appreciates this.
    Best of luck,

  • HT4859 when you go to do this it say that your iPod or whichever device will no longer be backed up to the computer it is currently backed up to, what exactly does that mean? Will i not be able to sync my iPod from that computer?

when you go to do this it say that your iPod or whichever device will no longer be backed up to the computer it is currently backed up to, what exactly does that mean? Will i not be able to sync my iPod from that computer? Please help me and answer either or both question detailed thanks

Normally when you sync your device it is automatically backed up to your computer as the first step in the sync process.  When you choose to start backing up your device to iCloud, iTunes stops automatically backing it up on your computer when you sync.  That's what the message is telling your; that you are now backing up to iCloud and not to your computer each time you sync.  You can still manually back up to your computer any time you want by going to the Summary tab and clicking on Back Up Now under Manually Back Up and Restore.
You can still sync your device as you did before, it just will no longer back up automatically when you do.

My iPhone 4s was stolen this weekend and I did the Remote Lock.  What exactly does that do?  Also, if i do the Remote Wipe will that erase all of my data and impede anyone from ever using the phone?

The remote lock locks the iphone with a passcode that you set. By remote wiping the device it will simply restore it and clear it of all its data, but by doing this it will prevent you tracking it and communicating with it (e.g. remote locking it) in the future

  • What exactly is un-needed from the Library folder?

I just want to know what exactly is ok to delete and what is not ok to delete from my Library folder. Many things take up a lot of disk space. I know I can delete the printer drivers (2GB)... but I don't know what other stuff is unnecessary. I'm not too skilled when it comes to this kind of stuff so please help me out. I want to clear out as much un-needed stuff as possible. Here are the biggest folders in my Library folder.
    - Application Support folder (3.94GB) [required or not?]
    - Audio folder (2.49GB) [required or not?]
    - Documentation (355.9MB) [required or not?]
    - Receipts (125.4MB) [required or not?]
    Thank you!

I personally would not start with the Library folder to start trying to make space, unless you really know what you use. Application Support for example, depends on what applications you use or don't use.
Having said that, you can try this page:

Sorry , but product is iPhone 5S

You can't buy from the Apple store online in the US because it is country specific and you firstly need a US credit card and then a US address and they won't ship outside of the US so you can't.
No Apple online store will ship outside the coutry.
If you want an iPhone, then you'll have to order via the Russian Apple store online if there is one, or you'll have to wait until it is released in your own country or go and buy one in Europe.

  • What's keeping me from buying the W540

I have $$ to spend and no Lenovo to spend it on.
Here's what's keeping me from buying the W540:
    1) Physical buttons have been removed above the trackpad.
Many, many people complain about this in the W540 reviews:
"Touchpad: I've commented elsewhere that this is the worse I've even seen. Absolutely useless. I've disabled both the touchpad and touchstick (again, useless) and just use a mouse."
"I'd try the touchpad on the W540 for a while before you decide you can live with it, it is truly as bad as all the reviews say. I've disabled mine and use a mouse."
"...two issues with the touch-pad. The first has to do with having to clunk the whole pad as opposed to tapping on a much smaller (and quieter) button. The second has to do with the touch pad activating when you are typing."
Member "Bauden" provided an excellent rationale for why this feature change is wrong for Thinkpads:
"For a MAC, a "click-pad" may work because the ENTIRE OS is designed to be used by a single mouse button. You CANNOT force this on PC users. On PC, right-click is used frequently for many essential functions, dragging and dropping and context menus . . . . the habit of using it has been ingrained into PC users by years of Microsoft tradition and applications (NOT APPS!)."
I've used 10 Thinkpad laptops, I can't imagine being OK with that either.    Needing to use an external mouse is unacceptable.
In fact, I'd bet the extra pressure needed to "tilt" or "clunk" the entire trackpad down to do the equivalent of pressing a gentle button from before will cause a greater frequency in RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury) in Thinkpad users.
I do not see a single person who feel this feature removal/change is an improvement.
Therefore, Lenovo, can you please change back?
    2) Bizzarre Resolution (2880 x 1620)
I need / want UHD. I am thrilled that you are finally selling higher quality screens on your laptops.
(Thank you Apple for putting that competitive pressure on laptop vendors.)
Lenovo, please provide the resolution on the W540 that you have provided on the new Y50. (3840x2160)
Why did you choose (2880 x 1620) resolution?
1920 x 1080 isn't an even divisor of the native dimensions at full resolution, so resolving scaling issues by going to 1920x1080 would never look exactly right.
But **please** Lenovo, keep the screen anti-glare.
If you make above changes, please keep the following features:
    1) Anti-Glare screens
    2) Trackpoint
    3)  2 physical drive capability, 1 SSD + 1 other
although it doesn't sound as easy as I'd prefer:
"Thus, no matter what anyone tells you, you CANNOT buy a W-540 and think you will easily swap a DVD drive with, say, a second hard drive. It’s minor surgery, best done with a jeweler’s screwdriver and some fine needle nose pliers.
Be sure to read the User Guide to keep from breaking the hatch cover. When I ordered mine, they shipped the Ultrabay carrier and the hard drive from the US, so they arrived early. I had to install them myself and found manipulating the tiny screws and pulling the hatch cover to be a bit scary.
……Not exactly what you would call “convenient.”

    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/LIVING-WITH-A-W-540/td-p/1528698
    4) Thunderbolt port
And add back in the following features:
I especially agree with these minuses in the "+/-" very detailed review by "Bauden"
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/LIVING-WITH-A-W-540/td-p/1528698/page/2
    = Missing drive indicator light
Why in the world remove that. Please add that back in.
    = Missing bluetooth indicator light
= USB 2.0 vs USB 3.0 ports can be easily identified with industry standard 'Blue' for USB 3.0.
Why did you decide to not do that?
After a couple hours of reading, I'd agree with the conclusion of Bauden when s/he said:
"Overall a nice speedy machine, but that is not by Lenovo R&D.
Intel, nVidia, and m.2 SATA are all wrapped in a container that is very poor when expecting a product labelled "Workstation". This is NOT a workstation among the items mentioned above and the wrong screen aspect ratio for photography / graphic applications."
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/LIVING-WITH-A-W-540/td-p/1528698/page/2
    Idea
It seems like the team who designed the Lenovo Y50 did a great job for that machine's intended purpose.
    http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50-uhd/
(but is it really shipping in any quantity? Not a single user review posted to the community.)
Maybe take the team who implemented the Y50 and have them design the new Thinkpad W550.

    Update:
I'm glad those reasons above kept me from spending my own $ on this model since work ended out upgrading my old laptop.  Options were a W540 or a T440.  I had about 15 seconds to decide.  I went with the W540 tp get a larger screen.
    Thoughts after several months: T
Best thing on a day to day basis:
Overall, it's a screamer.  I can throw any workload at it and it doesn't flinch.
    ( I7, 32gb memory, drive upgraded to a 1TB Samsung EVO SSD)
Life is too short to wait on slow systems or slow hard drives.   This "best thing" overshadows everything else and makes me very happy with this system.
Worst thing on a day to day basis:
The keyboard layout. PageUp should be above PageDown.  Home should be above End.
Useless number key area. Why?  The NumLock key is right next to the Backspace key.  I'll accidentally toggle that Numlock key once a day or so when hitting backspace.  Then, the PageUp, Home, etc., keys on that keypad are useless and unpredictable.
    Mildly annoying:
    1) The mousepad, for reasons described above.  Its tolerable but not great.
    2) The new DVD button location.  I accidentally open it twice a week when picking up / putting down the W540, and I've *never* used that silly DVD player.
    3) The "B" key, the key that's directly down from the red Thinkpoint tip, isn't right.  It doesn't press down cleanly.  bbbbbbbbbbbb   It's like it gets hung up on the red nibbet.

  • What exactly does the Work Offline option do in a shared review hosted on an internal server?

    Hi,
What exactly does the Work Offline option do in a shared review hosted on an internal server?
I *think* it simply disconnects you from the review server. I'm not sure why one would want to do this.
I'm trying to recommend an offline workflow for reviewers who may not be able to access a shared review hosted on our internal server (for example, while traveling). These reviewers would like to be able to comment on an offline version of the review PDF and then publish their comments when they can again connect to the Internet/internal server.
It doesn't seem like "Work Offline"  is the right fit for this scenario. Instead, should reviewers save a local copy to their hard drive, comment on it, and then, when reconnected to the Internet, open the local copy, click Reconnect to Server, and then click Publish Comments?

Thanks, Dave. So for my hypothetical traveling reviewer, it would be reasonable to suggest the following steps for an offline workflow?
    1. Connect to the shared review.
    2. Choose Work Offline from the Server Status menu.
    3. Close and save the review PDF locally.
    4. Comment while traveling.
    5. When back in the office, open the local copy of the review PDF.
    6. Click Reconnect to Server.
    7. Click Publish Comments.

  • What exactly does itunes mean when it says "apply sort field"

In iTunes when I select a track [or several tracks] and then Right click i see an option at the bottom of the resulting menu that offers to "apply sort field", when I select this option a sub menu comes up offering several fields for me to choose from, the options are, All matching fields, Same Album, Same Artist, Same Album Artist, Same Composer, Same Show. If I choose one of these options iTunes issues a warning that it's about to alter some of the files in my library. Can anyone explain exactly what is about to happen and how this is different from simply clicking any of the column headers in iTunes so it will sort the tracks on the screen?

The sort fields are used to control the order in which items are listed within their colums rather than which column the display is currently sorting on. iTunes automatically fills some of these in so an album or artist that begins with a, an or the is normally sorted as if the article wasn't there, e.g. so *The Beatles* get sorted under B and not T. In other cases you might decide that you want, for example *David Bowie* sorted as *Bowie, David*. If you set the Sort Artist, Sort Album Artist and Sort Composer (assuming this is one of his tracks) to *Bowie, David* on just one track, then right-click and chose *Apply sort file > All matching fields*, then iTunes will look at each track that has *David Bowie* in the Artist field and put *Bowie, David* in the Sort Artist field, also for each track that has *David Bowie* in the Album Artist field it will put *Bowie, David* in the Sort Album Artist field, and for each track that has *David Bowie* in the Composer field it will put *Bowie, David* in the Sort Composer field.
