Hi, some of the queries in our db consumes 100% of CPU for a couple of seconds. I've got a quest to find out, which oracle features can be disabled e.g. how to simplify the Oracle to the least necessary minimum to get rid of the CPU's peaks. It's not about tuning queries or the database parameters. Thanks a lot...

I guess the first two posters trying to say is you have a wrong approach. The first two poster is me, right ? Then yes, approach is wrong. This is not by checking CPU that we tune a database.
And a lot of time, It IS about tuning queries or the database parameters. No more than Hans has already said earlier, but right. And once more, this is not with CPU checking that we determine what parameter and what queries need to be tune.
Unless to fall in the Compulsive Tuning Disorder, some serious studies based on database reports are required.

Windows Azure SQL database is not on-premise SQL Server 2014.
SQL database not support Always on Availability Group and Replication. Scaling out in Azure SQL Database requires sharding, which horizontally partitions data across multiple databases. You should design custom sharding solutions by using application
code across multiple databases.

I need a complete list of what features can be locked down on iOS 6 - eg: preventing d.l of apps, internet filtering?
I have 800+ ipads that need to be extremely locked down and would very much appreciate a list of what i can actually prevent users from doing.

Probably can't give you a complete list, but you can check out:
Settings > General > Restrictions.
If you want to lock the iPads in a single app, try:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access.

ODT for VS - what features, functions, capabilities can we expect for 2006?

I'm interested in getting the ODT version that works with VS 2005, but would also like to hear what features and functionality will be coming out this year.
What would really help me is a tool that can auto-generate data access layer code for my tables, plus, the stored procs/functions. Will that be a part of this tool?

You mean like an O/R mapper? Check out NHibernate.
I believe one of the new features coming out will be PL/SQL debugging. Beyond that I'm not sure what other new features will be available.

Satellite Pro A120 - What Toshiba processes can be excluded from start-up?

My old A120 has over 50 processes showing in Task Manager before I even open a browser or any other application.
This seems far too many for a machine with a 1.46 GB processor (and half a gig of RAM).
Many of them are Toshiba processes, and look worryingly as if they are associated with hardware operation.
Is there a list anywhere of Toshiba processes which can safely be turned off - and which advises how to do this?

Every notebook has preinstalled different software and therefore different processes are running in the background of the OS.
There is no general answer what processes could be disabled.
Fact is that Toshiba notebook supports many different additional features which need the additional software.
If you dont want to use features like FN buttons, Toshiba control buttons, etc then you could disable the process responsible for this feature.
If you dont know exactly what a certain process do, then goggle simply for some details. There are many websites with different database which includes information about Windows background processes.
Then you could access the MSCONFIG and in the Startup tab you could disable some processes just for testing.
In worst case if something would not work you could enable it again.

Check this post, the dial assist is part of the iOS 7.1, according to page 49 of the iphone_user_guide
Make calls to your contacts and favorites while traveling abroad. (GSM) Go to Settings > Phone and turn on Dial Assist. Dial Assist automatically adds the prefix or country code for calls to the U.S.
This user had a similar problem and solved it by switching off the dial assist feature in Settings/Phone/Dial Assist

I need the public help because the Adobe support expert DIDN'T know.
When I called them to get support for an issue, I asked him please to tell me whether my issue IS or MIGHT be caused by the OS version (that was his GUESS), because I don't want to go on the mission of updating the OS and making my computer 200% slower and break Apache or something else I managed to optimize with command-line commands I don't even understand, and he re-answered three times "this PS version was not designed for that OS", so from that I extract these facts:
1) There is NO support for using PS CC in OS below 10.7.x
2) He didn't want to admit it, because he limited his words to the same statement.
3) There is NO list of unsupported features.
4) I have to update the OS to figure out and let other users know whether my issue is fixed or not with an update.
Currently, I can't render video from Photoshop other than to a "file sequence". The option that would allow me to select "movie" or "Mpg4", which is "media encoder" is always grayed out.
Does anyone know what features will break under OS 10.6.8?

PS: I guess after confirming I have the right OS, there is probably a few more questions to filter most users that don't meet the optimal conditions, so limiting the users they actually support to a few.

WTF? The "render video" was WORKING FINE in previous versions. This is NOT a feature that is so hot that only new OSs can handle it so you have to update or forget about it. The feature should use the old method if my OS is not the newest. This just looks like features taken out for us to buy/update to the hotest stuff, or less-than-poor I'd say ANTI-backwards compatibility.

Adobe decided to limit to Lion, each operating system they support means more quality assurance.
The APIs they used for video is not supported in Snow Leopard (I upgraded just for that)
Adding another one means more quality assurance, tests, detrimental to the new features.
If you are a creative cloud subscriber you can also install Photoshop CS6 that has a video module compatible with 10.6.8

Do you mean the check box isn't enabled?
Or you remove the check but it doesn't "stick"?
Or you remove the box but documents are stil getting locked?
That setting doesn't apply to other things in System Preferences, just apps that support AutoSave and Versions. If you're having a problem with System Prefs, please clarify exactly what.
