What is against using the Bookmarks Manager (Library) to remove those bookmarks?

You can easily select more than one bookmark with Shift + cursor Down and press the Delete key or delete an entire folder.<br />
If you use an (external) SQLite then you are quite likely corrupting the file.

I do a lot of work on the web and I have a ton of bookmarks that I use to maintain various sites. I have lost them all!
I have tried to install a clean copy of the programme and restore the Mozilla file from the User Library (in time machine) but all I have is a white space where the bookmark toolbar was! I also have a problem in trying to enter all the bookmarks manually again. I can open the bookmark drop down but I cannot save any bookmarks. Firefox will not let me bookmark any new pages. I still have all the passwords in the preferences so I do not want to install a completely new copy of the programme and loose these.
Are there any other system files that Firefox uses that I can restore from the backup to solve the problem?
I have a Mac Pro and I am running OSX 10.6.4
I have used Firefox for many years and never had a problem before.
Can anybody help - please?This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Time Machine will not let me restore from backups after June, 2013. I can see the files on the external hard drive but Time Machine skips all of them and goes back to June, 2013. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

If they are both using the same iCloud ID (assuming you are running your mail from iCloud), then yes, the email will disappear from your Mac after you delete it from your phone and after your phone sycs with iCloud and your Mac syncs with iCloud.

I have a problem with Safari in IOS 8 on my iPad 3. The bookmarks take up a third of the screen and I can't seem to make the bookmarks disappear until I need them. The useful part of the screen is therefore very small. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
OK, it now sort of works. A couple of problems here:
After updating IOS, Safari iCloud was "automatically" switched off
Switching it on had no effect
resetting my iPad automatically switched off safari iCloud again
after switching it back on, it said "turning off safari data"
switched it off and on again, now it said : "turning on safari data" and the sync worked
On IOS 7 no problems
The bookmarks not being displayed was because after pressing the book icon, it defaulted to showing the history and I had to press "Back" to get to the other options -
I have the latest Mac Air 13" and I have a Seagate 500MB external hard disk I cant copy or Cut any files on the hard disk and I cant even delete any files. I have the settings as Read and Write in the get info tab. Please helpand also note that my hard drive was formatted on a Windows 7 Laptop.
thats the problem, its in MSDos (Fat) or NTFS for Windows.
Options.....
1. offload all that data on the HD onto your PC, THEN format the HD in EXFAT for use on BOTH PC and Mac for read/write.....then reload all (or as you need) that data back onto the HD
2. get another HD, and format it for Mac OSX extended journaled.
FAT32 (File Allocation Table)
Read/Write FAT32 from both native Windows and native Mac OS X.
Maximum file size: 4GB.
Maximum volume size: 2TB
You can use this format if you share the drive between Mac OS X and Windows computers and have no files larger than 4GB.
NTFS (Windows NT File System)
Read/Write NTFS from native Windows.
Read only NTFS from native Mac OS X
To Read/Write/Format NTFS from Mac OS X, here are some alternatives:

In my email auto fill it lists addresses I haven't used in 2 years as "recent others". What causes this, the contact information for these people was deleted some time ago.
Mail, Window Menu, Previous Recipients.
Select the ones you don't want and delete them.
If you want to add them to contacts, click that button. -
Where is the data file for the address book located, I need to restore mine from backup but don't know where it is to do so. Putting my Mac Pro onto icloud synching contacts resulted in duplicate and triplicates of the same cards. I have a few THOUSAND contacts and the last time this happened was on mobile me. that had a function where you could replace info on the mobile me server with info on the computer. I see no way to do that on the new cloud.

Why can't i see my files in the bookmark folders in safari
I can see my folders in my Safari bookmarks but now I can't see the files in the folders. What have I done????
As you can see I have folders in the bookmarks categories. Each folder has multiple files in it. Previously I could open the folders on the side and choose a bookmark to go to. Now, I can open the folder and I have to scroll through the files on the screen. Did I change some setting that I can't find?

You'll have two Bookmarks Toolbar folders now. One from the installation of Firefox (the main one) and a 2nd folder from importing a bookmarks.html file.
Locate the '''''Bookmarks Toolbar''''' folder that is under the '''Bookmarks Menu''' folder and copy or drag'n'drop those bookmarks into the '''Bookmarks Toolbar''' folder that is above the '''Bookmarks Menu''' folder. -
What files does the slideshow create in Windows
I have just received a 60GB video ipod and am doing some homework before I go and start to load content. I am running Windows XP and have gone out and bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 to manage my pictures. Is this the only Win PC software that can work for creating slideshows? What extra files will this create, does it roll up the photos into a new large file with audio, is it just a pointer file for the ipod to understand where the pics are, what do I need to copy to my ipod apart from the actual pictures and what file do I run for the slideshow? If I have thousands of pictures, I presume I can just create separate slideshow files in the respective folders and then create a playlist of the slideshows? I thought I saw either wmv or pdf as the PC file formats that are created for the slideshows which I was a bit surprised at. Also, does the music I create for the slideshow remain separate or and just pointed to - can I use an mp3 file or do I ned aac (or is this just for video), or does it all get rolled up? Thanks for the newbie slideshow help. I've checked the forum but can't seem to find this info so hopefully I am not just repeating the questions.
CheersI have Adobe Elements 4 I know you can save your Photo Slideshow in wmv format. I love the new "panning" effect in Elements 4, I think that's what you refer to as the "Slideshow Video". However, I think you need to check out Microsoft PhotoStory 3 (a free download from Microsoft website). I'm no Microsoft fan, but honestly, you can create a video photo slideshow/PhotoStory in less than 5 minutes. Unlike Photoshop Elements, PhotoStory 3 is much easier because it uses the "wizard" approach. Check it out. In no time, you can create the video slideshow, save it in .wmv format. Then I use a tool to convert the .wmv file to .mp4 file.
People who asked why you would want to make a slideshow video obviously miss out the latest fun in sharing photos as moving pictures!!! It's so much fun than just watching static pictures with music. It impressed my friends so much! -
What exactly is the bookmarks menu? And how to search bookmarks?
OK, I've selected Show All Bookmarks from the bookmarks menu, getting to the page with the sidebar shown below. If I click on the Bookmarks Bar icon that looks like an open book, the items there exactly match those on my actual bookmarks bar along the top of every Safai window. But if I click on the blue folder labeled BookmarksBar, some, but not all, of the items on my actual bar are there.
The same is true for the Bookmarks Menu icon vs. the blue folder of the same name. In addition, I don't really know what the bookmarks menu is. What is it good for? Where do its items show up? And how did I even get anything in there at the first place?
Finally, I would like to know how to search only my bookmarks. By this I mean only those links that are in the many blue folders (not shown) below the BOOKMARKS heading in the screenshot. If I type a search term into the black search box that appears elsewhere on this page, two choices appear in the upper left corner: All and Bookmarks Menu. As far as I can tell, All searches my history as well as my bookmarks, while Bookmarks Menu searches only the Bookmarks Menu folder (the one with the icon, not the blue folder one—remeber, their contents are different, at least for me).
