a ConnectionPool in a TxDataSource for use by some entity beans using EJB 2.0.

are faster, and which support more features? I assume that I should not use the
type 4 driver since I am not using an applet, but I don't know if there are bugs
in the OCI C library for Solaris or in the JDBC drivers that use it that prevent
XA from woking. Which version of the Oracle C OCI library should I use if I use
a type 2 driver?

Hi,
I think you can't use the 8.1.6 thin driver for XA, you would have to
use the OCI driver or 2PC-enable your datasource. AFAIK this has been
changed for 8.1.7

When trying to access a pdf file, I receive the "AcroRd32.exe - Application Error." The description reads: "The exception unknown software exception (OXc0000409) occured in the application at 0X0040492a." Once I close the error, the pdf file is not an issue to open or close.

Thank you Pat. I have disabled Protected Mode, and opened about 4 pdf files without issue, but with the next one, I received the same error message. I don't understand why this error doesn't appear when accessing every pdf file.
As it turns out, sometimes it takes quite a while, often 2 to 5 minutes, for the error to show up. The only thing that changes in the description is the location - sometimes 0x0040122b and sometimes 0x0040492a, but it seems to show up consistently now that I know to wait.

Having problem with Adobe reader what software works well on mac for pdf file creation/reading and sending via email. Also how do I uninstall adobe reader so that all hints of it are erased.

To remove the Adobe PDF Reader:
1. Drag the Adobe Reader folder from the Applications folder to the Trash
2. Remove AdobePDFViewer.plugin from the Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder
Macs offer good PDF capability in the operating system. You can use Word or other program to create somthing you want to save/send in PDF format, then choose print, click on the PDF button at the bottom of the print window, where you can choose to email the PDF file.

What kind of card should I use with my DAQ setup?

We are using the e-series multifunction DAQ PCI-MIO-16XE-10 and are looking for a good DAQcard to go with it. We are wondering if there is a DAQcard with 16 bit analog output and higher than 20 kS/s.

National Instruments currently doesn't have a 16-bit analog output PCMCIA card. There is a 16-bit analog input card, however. For those customers interested, I am referring to the DAQCard-AI-16XE-50.
If speed is critical, you might still consider the 12-bit DAQCard-6062E. It has a single-channel analog output rate of 850 kS/sec.

My IT guy wants me to select a microphone and/or headset to record the verbiage for the videos we intend to make. Do you recommend a microphone or headset? And which specific model do you recommend for the best quality?

Hi Melissa. We have two different mics we use. The first is a headset mic - a Sennheiser PC323D. I costs about $150 list price. The other mic we use is a Rode Podcaster. I don't know its price, but it's considerably more. Both produce good results for recording narration in Captivate. My personal preference is the Sennheiser headset. It has a good frequency range and does a good job of reducing background noise, plus it maintains a constant position relative to my mouth, so I can move around and still sound good. The Podcaster is a fixed position mic. Other of our folks prefer its sound.
We also record our audio in small rooms with sound deadening foam on the walls. If you don't have that, at least find a quiet place. I've even recorded in my walk-in closet at home. The clothes do a good job of absorbing ambient noise and reflections.

I was finally able to successfully installed FP on my Mac OS 10.5.8 using the last trick shown below by Chris (Adobe Flash Player.pkg file). This, only after several (at least 10) attempts, and only after restarting my computer after downloading the install file. Thanks for the helpful post.

Somewhere in your pom.xml where you are configuring your build dependancies there will be a line <scope>caching</scope> this line is configuring the build to use a flex runtime shared library. This line is generating the error because caching is not a valid dependancy scope in maven 3 however mojos uses it anyway. There was a defect opened against flexmojos; I've linked it below. Froeder's response to the issue was that it was not fixable, that the warning is expected and that we'll have to live with it for now.

Hi, what Disk Allocation ubits should I use for drives. The default in NTFS is 4k, is that OK or should I make them bigger? If I use different drives to store different things should the different drives have different Allocation Units.
I have a USB3 enclosure with 2 TB drives in it. Would it be better to use JBOD (i.e. pass throught) so I effectivly have 2 seperate drives I can put different stuff on or RAID0 whitch gives better performance in a single volume?

The headphone jack says that it can connect with digital audio products, but I don't know how to tell if 1/8th cables are digital or analog.

the mac mini's headphone jack has a combination optical hookup. any kind of headphone cable will not send out the optical signal, you can tell because when you look at a standard headphone cable, it doesnt have anything for light to shine through it!
to get the digital audio out of the mini im pretty sure you will need aToslink to Mini Digital Optical SPDIF Audio Cable. they sell these on amazon for $5.55
you connect one side to the mac mini and you connect the other side of the cable to your optical input on your receiver
im pretty sure this is correct. the mac might send digital down a regular cable (some receivers will do this too) but im pretty sure the digital is sent down optically

When using 1080p 60fps clips what sequence should I use when creating a timeline that would work the best for slow mo application?
I read that you should use a 24 fps timeline but i'm not sure?
Also I have a few 720 @ 120 fps, should I create a separate sequence for that and what kind of timeline should I use since cs5 only has 1080 @ 60fps option?

24 is a good frame rate for most animations but some people like 30 and for the max stress on user systems and animation smoothness, use 60.
