  • Audio from video clips in FCP X not importing into timeline

All my video clips play with sound in preview. Once I select my clip and drag it into the timeline, the audio disappears. It's not muted, In the top right information box, it only says Video/Info.
I have instrumental music playing in the background, but I would like a specific clip to play with sound, and it's just not working out. Am I doing something wrong?

Is the timeline set to edit source video and audio?

  • I'm struggling to move video clips from my macbook pro to my ipad. a few play but most won't go over in the sync. What format do I need to clips to be in?

Greetings. I'm attempting to sync video clips from my macbook pro to my ipad 2 without much success.  A few videos go over and the rest can't. What format do they need to be in?  Thanks for any help you can give.  JWA

QuickTime Pro costs a few buck but is a good tool to have on hand as it can open and transcode a wide variety of video and audio formats.
It's like a Swiss Army knife for media files.

There are 3rd party utilities available that "rip" content into a compatible format - most include an iPod and/or iPhone format selection. If a video plays in iTunes, iTunes includes an option to convert a selection for iPod/iPhone.

  • What format should I have super 8 transferred into to use imovie 8 to edit?

I have a bunch of old super 8s that I will utilize a commercial lab to tranfer to digital so that I can edit them in imovie. What format would preserve the best quality and still be importable into imovie 8? I suppose I could also import into the previous version of imovie of need be as well so suggestions for both would be very helpful.
    Thanks

You wouldn't really want them in a highly compressed format which is why you would be better with the miniDV tapes providing you can play them (HDV if they do them and you can play them) otherwise you might go for DV on a data DVD, but you'll only get 20 minutes on a disc.

  • What format do I have to switch my avi files to. to be able to watch them on my ipad?

I creat a lot of avi files with the design cgi bisiness that I own. What format do I need to change the avi files to so I can show them on my ipad?

Handbrake can convert the avi videos well to iPad compatible formats, and use the preset like this:

  • Video clips have no soundwaves

Trying to increase the volume on a video clip only to notice there is no sound wave underneath the video - its blue indicating sound but no wave and can't get the volume to work...

Try selecting the clip and then the adjust button above the viewer. Then click on the speaker icon and toggle the mute button. If that doesn't work try adding and removing an audio effect.

  • What format are clips

I am working with AVCHD since July and editing and creating DVD's is not as good as I would hope.
My understanding is that when I import to iM08 at full my MTS clips are now AIC clips, but no longer 1080i but a de-interlaced for editing group of clips.
When I then import these converted clips into iMovie HD6 are they still the same AIC clips or are they converted again?
Thanks for any help in my understanding what is going on with these imports.
    Tom

I suspect there is some conversion going on. Tonight I did a blend of 2 clips in Quick Time and exported in AIC. It was a 13 sec clip that was 113 MB. It took almost a full minute to import into iMovieHD6 from the desktop.

  • What format do films have to be?

Hello i was just wondering what format films are to be played on an ipod touch? do they play .avi files?
    thanks

Video formats the iPod touch can play are listed here:

    AVI isn't one of them.

  • How do I get audio back on single clip that loses audio when imported into Premiere Pro CC?

I've got one clip out of many that for some reason won't play any audio when imported into Premiere Pro.  I am new to Premiere Pro so am hoping it's something stupid I've done, but this is a problem with just a single clip exported the same way as all my others, the original audio is loud (not quiet) and none of the FAQ issues seem to apply (ie I haven't muted the audio or anything stupid like that)
The clip was exported from Plural Eyes into a "master" Premiere Pro project where the audio is fine. I exported it as a short MP4 clip and if I play the clip in Windows Media Player the audio is there loud and clear.
But when I import the clip into a fresh Preimiere Pro CC project this clip appears with just the "film strip" icon on the far left in the Timeline panel, unlike other clips which have an icon that shows "film strip" in the background and "audio wave" in the foreground.
I'm hitting so many glitches with the CC editions of Premiere Pro and After Effects which have annoying inconsistencies between them I'm tempted to just go back to Sony Vegas Pro (single program, no hassle) but hoping most of these issues are down to "newbie incompetence". Very hard to understand why this one clip out of many should be giving me this specific problem though. Any ideas?

I'm getting so many weird results. Most go away by simply closing the project and re-opening and I only have 6GB memory but even so, I'm disappointed by what I thought was supposed to be more "world class" video editing software than Sony Vegas Pro which I found to be a lot more stable. Also struggling with differences between Premiere and After Effects. Every time I want to do something in Pro I seem to need to go to After Effects and vice-versa. After Effects lets me do more of what I could "just do" in Vegas Pro timeline, but it's hideous for lining up audio and having to render anything in RAM to even get a clue as to what a change has done.  Need to add Audition to the long list as well I suspect. Fun times!

  • I have mp4 that wont import into Premier CC.

HI I'm Suchart, I have footage in a strange format; .mp4 and it wont import into Premier CC. After import in Timeline it will lose half its length. I tried at least 4 machines, All this problem But It use Premier CS6 undisputed.

  • Video clips have perfect audio but no picture in Quicktime, VLC has perfect audio and jittery picture... How is this fixed?

I have a Canon 550D and a class 6 Sandisk extreme 3 card which I have been taking great photos and film clips.
Yesterday I captured some content and when I put it into my macbook pro, the images were clear as per usual however the videos only appeared to play the audio in aperture 3 and also in quicktime.
I then tried the videos in VLC and it had perfect audio once again but with picture this time. This picture quality seemed to freeze.be jittery.
Has anyone had/fixed this before..?? The content I have captured was of a once off opportunity for work...

    hi,
thanks. i already have that. wmp 9 for the mac. (i forgot to post that in my list.)
every darn thing i have does the same thing.
    audio but not video
i clicked on "open in rosetta" for flip4mac and now it does open once more but the same...no video.
i don't understand why nothing is working.
do i have to upgrade fliprmac and buy it to make it work? i am not going to do that tho.
    this is really frustrating.
i'm curious - suppose i send it to you - unless i can put it here somehow - and see if you can
    open and listen and watch?
i tried it on my ibook and the same thing happened.
