• PlugIns for Windows Media Player

I have run across this many times and I don't understand what this means and how to correct it. When using the Windows Media Player 9 (for OSX) and I go to various webcams, I get a message that states...
"This page has content of MIME type “video/x-ms-asf-plugin”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."
What does one do to correct this? Help.

Microsoft no longer support Windows Media Player for Mac. it's an end-of-life product.
You probably need the Flip4Mac plugins for Quicktime in order to view those feeds.

• EXPORT LONG FILES IN 1080p for Windows Media Player

Hello, need some help in exporting and encoding some large files from Premiere CS6.
We have 4 Sequences, each totalling 45minutes in length and in 1080p (ProRes422).
We need to export and encode for Windows Media Player as quickly as possible.
Looks like each export is going to take over an hour from Premiere as "Match Sequence Settings"
-keep in mind there is NO AUDIO.
Once it's out of Premiere as an MPEG, I can transcode to any format. Ultimately WMV would be optimal,
but we need to transcode the MPEG into a MOV file before 'Episode' will accept it, just to make the WMV files.
Target files: (4) 1080p Windows Media Player compatible files
Does anyone have a better workflow workaround? Midnight hour and need help!
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Thanks Jim, I can't export to WMV out of Premiere or Media Encoder. I use Episode to make my WMV files, and since Episode doesn't take MPEG in from Premiere (sigh)
I have to first make them in Quicktimes..
But yes! Anything Windows Media Player can handle... should I just go with the 5GB MPG files? No way for me to test, I'm on a Mac and these are playing on a PC
thanks for your help

• How to convert MP4 on iTunes to MP3 or WAV for Windows Media Player?

I have purchased lots of audio books online, but until recently had not purchased much music. I recently purchased an album, and it downloaded nicely into iTunes, and of course I can access it on my 80 gig iPod. But when I tried to move a copy into Windows Media Player so I could copy it into a little MP3 player that I bought for special use, I found that I could not get a copy to convert. DOes anybody know how I can convert a Store purchase from MP4 to MP3 or WAV file for use with Windows Media Player?

+"I recently purchased an album... so I could copy it into a little MP3 player..."+
You shopped at the wrong place. The iTunes Music Store does not sell (and has never sold) anything in MP3 format. If you want MP3s for your MP3 player, shop at online stores that sell MP3s, such as amazon.com.
As for any iTunes DRM-encumbered tracks you are already stuck with, take Zevoneer's advice and use iTunes to burn them to an audio CD.

You are going to need to have two versions of the video file. One for Mac Quicktime users and one for WIndows Media Player users.
WMV Studio Pro looks like it could meet your needs.

However you will need a Windows Media Server to stream the WMV file otherwise it will act as a download only.

• DRM for Windows Media Player on the ipod

My ipod is worthless, if it can't play files with DRM for Windows Media Player. My library, that offers this files for download says, it would cost 50.000 dollars to provide also ipod-compatible files. Because they can't spend this money, I will need a new mp3-player!

The specs for the iPod (box, website) are pretty clear about what formats it supports. Unfortunately, protected WMA files are not supported.
If the rights you have for those files includes burning them to an audio CD, you might want to do that.

• Downloading plug-ins for windows media player

i'm a brand new mac user -- bought a macbook less than 24 hours ago. i have not been able to trouble shoot installing plug-ins for windows media player. if anyone can advise, i would be most appreciative.

Windows Media Player for Mac was discontinued more than a year ago by Microsoft. They recommend using the free Flip4Mac player <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts/otherproducts.aspx?pid=windowsmedia >.
A good addition to your arsenal of media players would also be the stand-alone VLC Media Player <http://www.videolan.org/vlc/>. It's a Swiss Army Knife of media players.
Hope this helps!

• Plugin for Windows Media Player is not working with Firefox 4 on Windows 7

I updated my Firefox to the latest version 4 yesterday, but since this time seems plugin for Windows Media Player not working anymore. When I visit some website with embedded video - like [http://www.ta3.com/sk/live this] - the window with WMP is not displayed and no video is playing. The website reports: You don´t have any plugin for playing of this video.
I reinstalled the plugin for WMP several times - with no success. This problem is on all webpages with embedded video for WMP. The installation of WMP plugin is successfully finished, but no video is playing. I checked the “plugins“ folder in the installation directory of Firefox and everything seems to be OK. Where is also the problem? Please, help me with solving of this problem...
My operating system: Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just saw this posted to the mozilla.support.firefox newsgroup in the topic,
[http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.firefox/browse_thread/thread/f381fb349c4d109d/69bef0011240e600?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8 Windows Media Player will not install in Firefox 4]
• Is there a plugin for windows media player for my android phone

is there a plugin for windows media player for my android phone

There is no Windows Media player plugin for any browser on Android. If you are lucky download the file and see if any of media players on the system can play the file.

• Can't download plug in for windows media player. Have used download site and it says it worked, but plug in is not showing up on my list of plug ins.

I tried to hear a conference call on a website. Got a message, needed windows media plug in. Checked my plug ins, no windows media. Read tutorial on firefox support. Clicked on download. Got a window that asked for repair or change. Tried repair, then change. Need better directions on how to finish download. Got message download successful, but after closing firefox and reopening, still no plug in for windows media in list of plug ins. Went to site and could not hear conference.
Read support forum. Message about using about:config. Tried this, typed in about: config in start menu, but didn't see anything that looked like I could change to true like message said.
solved by opening internet explorer and going to website and listening to conference call on windows media player. There was a message saying click here if you want to enable media player. Did so, heard conference.
Tried using chrome. Got to hear conference yesterday. Today, there was same message about needing plug in when I tried to follow instructions to get plug in, it was as confusing and useless as firefox. The bottom line is I tried to do everything set forth in firefox's forum suggestions and can't get the windown media plug in to show up in my list of plug ins and can't hear conference calls on firefox.
Chrome did say they were working on getting plug in available at chrome store.
I agree with comments that I was able to go to web sites and hear calls before firefox made an update that removed my windows media plug in. The simple download fix, presumeably from windows, does not work, apparently because firefox can't find the fix. That is not the user's fault, and it looks like windows tried to provide a fix, and firefox won't recognize it.
Bottom line, it is easier to use another browser, than try and get the windows media player plug in installed on firefox. What good is a browser, if you can't hear a call on the website that the browser takes you to? Please make it easy to install the windows media plug in on firefox. Thank you..

Firefox can find plugins in several locations, but Firefox 21 changed the location of the "shared" plugin folder so older installers like the Microsoft Windows Media Plugin no longer drop the DLL file in the correct location.
There apparently are two ways to address this:
(1) Change a Firefox preference so that Firefox checks the old location. Here's how:
(i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''plugins''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''plugins.load_appdir_plugins''' to switch its value from false to true.
This will take effect after you restart Firefox.
(2) Copy the plugins folder to the new location. Here's how on Win 7 64-bit:
Open a Windows Explorer window to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Right-click and copy the '''Plugins''' folder
Double-click the '''browser''' folder to open it
Right-click and paste
Right-click the new copy of '''Plugins''' and rename it to '''plugins'''
After restarting Firefox, the plugins in that folder should now be available.
''Edit: I suggest just doing #1.''

• What is the PROPER plugin for Windows Media Player 12 - Prompt leads to WMP 11

Is the plugin for WMP 11 the proper plugin for the WMP 12 64 bit system?
Is this WMP 11 plugin the version of the plugin itself or for WMP Version 11?
One web cam I tried to view said it needed this plugin, it wouldn't download; said to do it manually. When I tried it listed the Windows systems w/bit system information and Windows XP SP2 (x86)
Windows XP SP2 (x64)
Windows Vista (x86)
Windows Vista (x64)
There is nothing offered for Windows 7 at all, much less for this 64 bit system as it does for the two above systems. This is very unclear, and with so many problems posted all over the Internet.... and having lost graphic card ability and later memory burn out on last computer due to this same issue in Vista, I would really appreciate the proper plugin information relating to this issue so I can safely use my computer.
Who creates the plugins?T Firefox or Microsoft? How can this problem go on for so many years unresolved? Thanks for your insight.

You need a 32 bit Windows Media Player and a 32 bit plugin for it.
I don't think that the WMP plugin will work with a 64 bit WMP version.
Firefox is 32 bit as well.
The WMP plugin that you found works with WMP 12.

• Export options for use with Windows Media Player

In Captivate 5, what formats can be exported to (now that AVI is no longer a choice) that will work with Windows Media Player? Unfortunately a Flash based file is not an option in this instance.

Hi there
You could publish from Captivate as FLV or F4V, then use a conversion utility to convert to AVI if you want.
Cheers... Rick
