What happen to julius thread in ABAP DEVELOPMENT?

It was reformatted by the new 5000 characters per post limit
I am busy working on a solution to split them and move each part to its own respecting sub-development forum - but have not got to it yet. Sorry for being slow.
The FAQ and memorable discussions thread in the Security Forum is affected as well, but there is only one forum... :-((
Any creating ideas on how to fix that one (other than removing information from it)?

@ Julius: Since there is 5000 Characters Limit has been introduced for keeping the forum neat, undersized and informative as much as possible rather than long bulky programs.
But My Question is What about the Programs and Threads which had already been posted in last 5-6 Years of SDN(now SCN)?
I can see all the previous threads also have been affected!
So Does SAP having any Programmer In their team of Michael Goeck or David Branan(Who is working from behind the scene ) to introduced the restriction of 5K chars based on Date?!?

What Happened to the thread about problems

I was getting all sort of emails about the thread:
"iTunes 7 Little list of Problems (add here yours)" in the Apple Discussions forum "Using iTunes for Mac"
and now when I try to access it it says I don't have permission...what's going on here APPLE!

I agree with durhamnboy in that I think that a relevant discussion about these bugs is a constructive thing, as long as someone with influence was reading it that is
Whether this forum is the place to do it is another question - but I instinctively came here first to see what others thought of the new iTunes, so I imagine its the place where most other knowledgable users come. However its Apple's decision as to what is relevant, so there's no point arguing with it I suppose...
As a software developer myself, I would be happy to see a list of any bugs that we'd missed as a team, especially important in consumer-grade stuff I feel. I'm sure Apple's developers aren't stupid, so will be disappointed to have missed some of these things. Fingers crossed

Error in license check on (what is supposed to be) the ABAP developer edition 7.02

I obtained (at least what I thought to be) the Developer Edition (7.02), the information for which gave the impression that it had a permanent license, but the license seems to have expired , and now I cannot log on: Status bar says Logon not possible (error in license check).
I've spent a diverting morning searching and even chatting with SAP about how to get running again (they suggested I re-install, which would not be a problem if it didn't take a whole freaking day to do).
Surely this is a known issue, but I can't find it.
What does one do with a piece of software that is supposedly never to expire but does?

Login with SAP* and enter transaction SLicense (there you can see information about license and validity).
There you can see an install button which opens a folder where the license should be (txt file sent from SAP by E-Mail after you entered the information in the websit formular which was mentioned above).
It should be the same mechanism for 7.02.

What Happened to my Thread???

I posted a question a few days ago, and it was replied to 5 times. Today I look, and the question is there but there are NO replies...ZERO, Zilch, Nada. The thread is GONE. 2 replies were from a forum member who was trying to help me, and 3 were answers and addtional info added by me. I really need help with this, but if the Forum Moderator, or whoever it is, just wipes pieces of threads like that, I'm not very well served by this "service". And I've looked all over the site to find an email address or a phone number so I can contact someone. Anyone have any ideas why this happened?

Thanks, but I´m not sure that will fix whatever the real problem is. I did try to boot from the OSX cd earlier today, after disconnecting both HDs, just to see if there were some corrupted remnants of hidden files from the earlier install that I trashed. No go - same deal with spinning wheel to prohib sign - so it appears the drives aren´t the problem. I´m still thinking one of the processors is gone, do you know of anyway to check that in OS9? Why did the topic "Copy/Paste and Everything Wrong + 3 great moves" get deleted?
I believe the topic raised some very reasonable concerns and suggestions about how to make the iPhone more viable in the corporate environment.
One poster suggested Apple really listens to user suggestions. However the disappearance of that thread might suggest Apple might be stifling, rather than listening to any constructive criticism of the product.
Why has that thread been removed?

From what I have observed, feature requests are considered speculation by the Hosts. More importantly, the users on this forum can't help you with your request, because they are not Apple employees and have no ability to change the product in question. Those few Apple employees who might read your post are not permitted to discuss any future release, and are equally unable to help you.
Quite simply, Apple Discussions are not the place for feature requests or speculation about future releases of software or hardware. A thread that is started with the intention of discussing such speculation will usually be deleted. If discussion of features - or their lack - arises in a proper thread (Ex: "How do I do this?" ans: "You can't, because..." or ans: "You can't, but here's a work around.") then the post is usually permitted to stand. Polling is also against the TOU, so starting a topic like "I wish (xx) had (this feature), what do you think?" is a double violation. (I didn't see your thread, I'm just describing a type of thread I often see getting deleted.) Apple feedback is the appropriate place to make feature requests. You can also find non-Apple managed rumor sites where this kind of speculation is encouraged.
The purpose of Apple Discussions is to find (and offer) support using the product that you have, not for describing the product that you wish you had. Before posting, consider how likely the users here will be to answer and solve your question (or to benefit from your non-question topic). That's a good rule of thumb that can help you avoid having your topics removed.

Stop or Reload a call to a JSP--what happens to a EJB running in the JSP?

I am calling repeatedly calling a method of an EJB bean from within a
          while-loop in a JSP. The EJB is handling some database processing.
          Unfortunately, the EJB's processing can take a lot of time within each
          iteration of the while-loop, which prompts some users to hit "Stop" or
          "Reload" from their browser.
          Therefore, the while-loop gets broken.
          My question is: what happens to the thread of execution within the EJB?
          Will an EJB that is called from a JSP continue to completion even if a user
          hits "Stop" or "Reload?"
          Any feedback will be appreciated. It appears to me that the EJB does not
          continue to completion.

What do you mean that the while loop gets broken? Stop just closes the
          socket from the client end, it does not affect threads that are processing
          on the server unless they explicitly check the state of the socket.
          Similarly, the EJB would not stop processing.

New Data in R/3 Enterprise - ABAP Proxies - XI what happen?

i have a theoretical question:
if i use R/3 Enterprise on WAS and put new Data in the R/3 System and transport them to XI with ABAP Proxies. What happens in the systems?
How do the R/3 System put new data in the proxy runtime and send them to xi?
I want to unterstand how the transport from new data in a R/3 System with ABAP Proxies comes to the XI Integration Server.

all you need to do in r3 is to fill tables of a generated structure
and execute one method of a generated class (send....)
then R3 will connect over HTTP to XI and send the data from your structures
structures and class in R3 is being generated automatically via TCODE SPROXY

What happens to AM instances used by asynchronous threads

Hi,
We have a long running process inside an AM, that calls pl/sql packages. Sometimes, this is causing http connection timeout depending on the volume of data it is processing. While we can increase the timeout, we are exploring other options. One that we're planning to spawn a thread in the backing bean, and invoke the AM method binding inside the thread. And have a polling component on the UI that keeps checking the status of the process. If you guys have done it before, please share your experiences and insights. Please help us with the following questions:
1) When we spawn a thread that uses an AM instance - will it still be managed by ADF or completely moves out of ADF control ?
2) In our case we spawn a thread and return control back to the UI. So obviously the http connection / HttpServletResponse will be closed immediately. Does this also trigger ADF to forcefully reclaim the AM ? or ADF considers it as busy and not-passivate/release until thread completes ?
3) Precisely at what point in time, AM gets released? is it upon closure of http/servlet connection ? or upon completion of am method calls ?
4) Upon thread completion, do we need to take care of releasing it back to pool or ADF will do it automatically ?
5) Does ADF transaction management work fine with thread scenarios ?
4) What happens, If another request comes from the same user? does it get a different am instance to cater that request ? Even if it gets a different am instance, it might represent an invalid state, because the previously initiated process could still be running.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

If you spawn a new thread to do work, you should use another application module than the one you use for the UI. The way I do this is to call a method in the am which then spanws the new thread which then gets a new root application module and the thread uses this ma exclusivly. All changes done in the thread are part of the transaction of the am used in the thread. There can't be any communication with the transaction from the am used in the ui. The ui only can react on changes done in tables in the db. The spawned thread uses a semaphore which only allows one execution of the thread until the thread has done its work. Here you have to be careful if your app runs in a cluster environment. In this case the semaphore has to be stored in the db or an a shared file system.
One other way to do this (more easily) is to implement hte log running process as an asynchronous web service. then you call this service from your UI and let the service do the work. Via the callback you get notified once the service has finished.

Develop presets: after preset "updated" what happens to all existing references?

Testing the develop preset "Update with current settings" I've noticed that the existing images referencing the updated preset do not change. If you click the associated history steps before/after then the image updates.
Is this "correct" or is this a bug? If it is correct, what is the point of "Update with current settings"?
Related question: what happens to images referencing a preset that one deletes in the preset pane?

When a preset is created, it stores the current level of the chosen parameters at the time of creation; in the example below, the preset which will be named CurrentPreset1 will store the current levels applied to the selected photo at the time the preset was created, and in this case will only store values corresponding to Color, Lens Corrections, and Process version.
To update the values recorded in a preset, the various levels must be changed on the currently selected photo and then the "Update with current settings" must be selected on the preset to update. The "Update with current settings" therefore updates the preset itself with new values corresponding to the values set in the current photo and has nothing to do with how it was applied to photos in the past. A preset is not related in any way to photos on which it is applied; a preset simply applies the set values recorded in the preset on the selected photo as if these same values would be manually entered for the selected photo.

Where did it go ? Even my post is missing.

Well, I can tell you what happened with my neighbors - a complete and utter disaster. It just won't install. I went so far as to reinstall Panther for her (so she can have a working computer) and then try to archive and install. Failed. There's a post about it in the 10.5 forum/installation and set up. It really *****. I don't know what else to do. She's supposed to pay for a license and now, if she doesn't, I'm left holding one with nowhere to put it. Maybe I can just sell it.
This is not cool for Apple. I don't know what they didn't do right, but it ***** and is very disappointing. It's worse because I'm up and running with it on my MacBook so I feel bad for her.
