What happend to the download progress bar and the secure site indicator (lock)?

I recently upgraded to Firefox ver.4. Immediately noticed that the green download progress bar no longer displays. Also when accessing a secure web site the lock icon previously displayed in the lower right of the window is no longer there. Any suggestions on how to get them back?

The status bar was removed in Firefox 4. You can use this two add-ons:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-statusbar/
The Lock icon has been changed. Please read this article:

You can use this add-on to get the classic icon back:

  • The download progress bar on the upper right side of the firefox window has turned grey and download is not progressing, help

I started downloading a file whose size was 4.75GB and the time remaining shown was 4 days. I left it overnight (computer was set to never sleep mode), and next day (today) morning the total file size shown in the download bar is 534MB. Yes, this doesnt sound sane, but I am telling what has happened.
Moreover the download stopped progressing and the seemed to resume once I had manually paused and resumed it.
Please suggest what is wrong and how to fix it

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is interfering otherwise.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

  • How can I permanently prevent the Reminder Fox icon (in the Add-on Bar) and the Add-on Bar from showing?

Installed: Firefox 27. ReminderFox 2.1.4. Windows XP Professional
Since ReminderFox 2.1.4 was installed, I have deselected the 'Status/Add-on Bar Display 'Bow' and text on status bar' numerous times, but the setting never takes effect even after pressing the Apply and OK buttons.
The Add-on Bar, which has always been deselected from the View > Toolbars menu, shows as selected in the menu, and even though I deselect it manually, when I close Firefox and then reopen it, it shows again as selected in the menu.

  • Firefox 4 seems to have omitted the little progress bar at the bottom right of the monitor which indicated how close you were to getting the web site you had just clicked to retrieve. What happened to it?

In former versions of Firefox, there was a little rectangular window at the bottom right of the screen which got progressively filled with green squares as your latest command was being processed. This enabled you to know that the computer had received the command and roughly how close it was to completing the requested task. No such window appears in Firefox 4. Was that omitted or do I have to do something to get it back?

#'''<u>The Status Bar has been eliminated and replaced by the Add-on Bar</u>'''. You can restore some of the prior Status Bar functionality on the new Add-on Bar by
    #*installing the Status-4-Evar extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
#*then drag 3 widgets to the Add-on Bar from the Customize Toolbar window (the 3 widgets are: Status Text, Progress Meter, Download Status). To open the Customize Toolbar window
#**Using Menu Bar: click View > Toolbars > Customize
#**Using Firefox button: click Firefox button, click small arrow to the right of Options, click Toolbar Layout
#**Note: Instead of either of the above, you can do as in the past, right-click an empty space in the Navigation toolbar and choose Customize
    #*set options for Status-4-Evar:
#**Menu Bar: Tools > Add-ons, click on Status4Ever, click Options, set options to your liking
#**Firefox button: click Firefox button, click Add-ons, scroll down to Status-4-Evar, click Options, set options to your liking

  • When a download was completed while in Firefox, the download window appeared, and the file would be scanned for viruses. Now I no longer notice the scanning for virus process. What do you think happened, and how can I fix it - believe me, I've looked!

I've searched through extensions and add-ons, and checked Firefox's options and preferences, all to no avail.

    you must modify '''browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone'''
type in the address bar '''about:config'''
then press the button '''i'll be careful i promise'''
then type in the bar '''browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone'''
then''' double click on it''' to set it to '''true''' (probably you have it false)
    '''exit firefox''' and '''restart-it'''.

  • Is there a plug-in or a way to remove the green progress bar from the address bar/AwesomeBar?

Much as I love Firefox, I'm not overly enamoured with the wee green progress bar that's integrated into the awesomebar in 5. As I have Status-4-Evar installed, I really don't need it, and I find it kinda ugly, to be honest.
Are there any plug-ins or preference options to make it go away, or am I stuck with it until my brain just learns to ignore it?

Use the options in Status-4-Evar, on the "Progress" tab, uncheck "Show progress in the Location Bar". There is now an icon "S4E" on the location bar or use the options through the add-ons manager.

  • Do not show the Mac menu bar and the Dock in full-screen mode option not available

"Remote Desktop Connection" for mac has an option to
hide the menu bar in full screen mode.  I am unable to locate this option in the new
Microsoft Remote Desktop.  Without this option the remote desktop connection bar becomes completely inaccessible.  And since the old "remote desktop connection" program has poor support for windows 8.1 I cannot go back.
Is there a workaround?  Can you please add this important feature back in?

    H,
I am afraid that we have no solution or workaround for this. I will help to submit this as a customer wish to the product team.

  • Whatever happened to the blue "progress" bar in the lower right corner in previous versions?

I found that bar to be very helpful to see if a site is working or how long it would take to appear in the browser window. Where did it go?

We logged an SR for this some months ago (for 10.1.2.3.0) and support told us this is not possible with Oracle mechanisms. You can only hide the status bar completely.

  • How do I lock the bookmark tool bar AND the menu toolbar

Why don't you allow one to LOCK the Bookmarks Toolbar? Why don't you allow one to LOCK the menu toolbar?
This is insane. Sometimes my bookmarks toolbar is here, sometimes it disappears. There is no way to lock it so it stays in sight. Don't blame my anti-virus program, the tool bar stayed locked in place until you "Updated" firefox, and now you can't find a darned thing. It's so frustrating I may go back to IE...at least there, I knew I"d always be able to find AND lock a tool bar.
    Your support doesn't.

  • Feature Request - Bring back the show progress bar

Just in case Verizon is looking for suggestions here, can you please bring back the progress bar that was behind the start/end times in the guide? In the current guide, there is no quick graphical cue to represent how much time has progressed in the selected show. Yes, you can look at the start, end, and current times, but when browsing through shows that start/end at different times, it really slows browsing down.
I've uploaded two images to illustrate the issue.
The first image below is a screenshot of the v1.9 guide. The second image is a mock-up that shows the feature that I am talking about. Note the progress bar for the currently selected show in the guide that appears behind the start and end times ("7:35 AM - 9:30 AM" on the right side of the screen, in the middle).
This was available in the previous guide, but was omitted in 1.9. It is a very useful feature. Please bring it back.
(NOTE: The white progress bar at the top of the screen does NOT represent the progress through the show selected in the guide. It just shows the current time.)

I'm sorry, but I just do not see the benefit of the elapsed time thing you propose. What difference does it make to see some kind of indicator how far into the program you are? You can't change where you are, you are there, period.
But if you really, really want to know:
    1) Just look at the start time and end time shown in the current program in the middle, and look at the TOD shown at the top, and estimate where you are.
    - or -
    2) Hit the Info button once and see a bar that definitively shows how far in you are.
Could you please explain why you think having that feature is so useful? I just don't see it.
    Thanks.
