What happended to DAB Radio on the N8?

Just dug out my headset to give it another go but can't find the app in Nokia store, where's it gone???
Does it work anyway? I didn't have much luck last time I tried.

I would like to know what happends if I dont close the connection after processing. we wont get any compile time & run time error if you dont close the connection. But why we used to close the connetion. Any specific reason for this. Please let me know.

What happens if you don't close a connection? It depends on how many connections you open and how long your program keeps running.
Let's start with the case of a standalone program that runs for a little while then exits.
While the program is running, the operating system maintains a network connection to the database server for each open database connection; there are system limits on the number of open network connections, although this is usually a very high number. Also, every open connection to a database uses resources of the database; many databases have limits on the number of connections they can have open at once. Some database products or configurations (Oracle in "dedicated" mode) will also start a seperate process on the server for each open connection; too many open connections and these processes start swapping out to disk, too many more and the server runs out of memory.
When the program exits, the operating system will close any open network connections; the database server will also recognize that the network connections are closed. If the database supports transactions and the connection was in a transactional mode and there were uncommitted transactions, then the uncommitted transactions will be rolled back. Ultimately, all the database resources get released (assuming there are no bugs in the database program).
Thus, a program that runs for a few minutes, commits all its transactions and exits without closing connections doesn't do major harm; the operating systems of both the client and the database server clean up the network connection and the database itself cleans up the database connection. It's all designed this way because programs sometimes crash; you can't have a system/database that breaks when that occurs... However, this cleanup is not always absolutely immediate on program exit; it usually takes a short time, seconds to minutes, for everything to clean up. Therefore, if the same programs is run over and over real fast, it becomes possible to exhaust a resource, such as memory or network connections. For a quick little test program that's run once and that's it, no problem...
Now for a long running prgram, such as a web application that will run for days or months...
As I've alluded to above, each database connection uses system resources, both on the client machine and on the database server. When a connection is maintained open, those resources are tied up; there's always a limit on the total number of connections that can be supported, although with the right software, hardware and database configurations that limit can be a huge number, tens of thousands. For other systems, it might be a low number, hundreds or less. Whatever it is, the program could potentially reach that limit and cause something to fail. If it doesn't reach that limit (or cause another program to push past the limit) then there's no problem (other than a potential performance impact).
Now within a Java program, the JDBC standard requires that when an open database connection object is garbage collected, the connection is first closed. Assuming your driver conforms to the standard in this regard, and assuming no resource limit gets exceeded, then a long running program could open and abandon connections and let the garbage collector close and clean up. However, garbage collection is unpredictable, and connections are often sufficiently long lived that they get moved out of the "Eden" memory space and into the space of long-lived objects. These objects are only garbage collected when a "full" garbage collection takes place; a "partial" collection only examines the "Eden" space. Thus, depending on the applications load and memory usage and connection usage pattern and garbage collection configuration, an abandonded connection might not be garbage collected for hours or even days, greately increasing the chances that you run out of resources.
In other words, not closing your connections in a long running program is a really really bad idea.

What happended to "Save As" in the SQL Worksheet?

I am using 14.22 in Windows XP. In the previous version 13.43 I used to:
1) Open a new SQL Worksheet.
2) Type in statements.
3) Press Ctrl-S to save the contents of the SQL Worksheet panel to a new file, an "Open File" dialog appeared.
4) Enter file name for new SQL script file.
Now when I press Ctrl-S I do not get the "Open File" dialog. The Ctrl-S saves the SQL Worksheet contents to a temp file in my user/.sqldeveloper/tmp directory. I have to copy the contents of the SQL Worksheet panel into a text editor and save it to a SQL file. Or I copy the SQL file in my temporary directory to the new file I want.
I saw in another thread that the SQL Worksheet contents is not being saved to a temporary file to help prevent loss of contents if there were a machine outage. This change may have caused this problem.
I use the "Save As" functionality in the SQL Worksheet a lot. That was how I create SQL files.
How do I create a SQL script in SQL Developer now?

It got dropped by accident but it will be back in for EA7 that we expect to release any day now (just writing the release notes for it now). We have the Save As back in the menu and a right-click Save File from the Worksheet to save your work.

For the "Arangements" option to appear, the external display must be turned on with the correct input selected and connected to the computer. Then close system prefs, reopen, go to "Display" and "Arrangement" will be along the top.

DAB Radio App and Belle FP2 (on 808)

I loved listening to DAB Radio via the Nokia headset on my C7. Imagine my surprise when I bought a new 808 Pureview and the DAB Radio App was missing.
I installed the app from (ahem!) another place, and it runs OK, but then crashes whenever I access the menu. This is a little frustrating as I paid good money for the headset - and the 808.
I know Symbian is in decline, but it is still supported and it can't be too much to ask for this bug to be fixed and the App to put back in the store.

Interesting. I'm running 113.010.1507 - reported by my phone as up-to-date - and it crashes every time I hit the menu options.
Version of the DAB App is 2.05(19). Not sure if that's the most up to date version - it doesn't appear in the Store and I had to get it elsewhere.

N8 DAB Radio - now available in UK

Just thought I would post the fact that today I bought the DAB Radio USB kit from my local Nokia Store - in fact it was the first one they sold.
Had to go to Ovi Store to download the application onto the phone, but have tried it out and it works well, even with a reportedly weak signal. You can either listen to the radio through the supplied headphones, or activate the speakers on the phone (with the headset connected as well as this acts as the aerial), and you can also detach the Nokia supplied headphones and use your own. I tried plugging in one of the Nokia MD9 speakers instead of headphones, and that works fine as well. Great bit of kit, but not cheap at nearly £60. However it will sure beat carrying a bigger DAB radio around when I travel and for work. If you are into DAB radio, may be worth a punt.

OK - further quick update on using DAB radio in the car. I removed the headphones and connected a separate FM Transmitter that I have used quite happily with an MP3 player - it has an autoscan feature and scans and saves four 'free' channels, and you can then tune to one of the 4. Initially, whilst close to home, the DAB radio played quite well - getting my hopes up. However when I went further afield, it kept dropping the signal for 2-3 second periods, and was showing a low signal strength. I think this is because the car acts as a metal shield. I could probably lengthen the lead to the transmitter, by getting an extension lead, and then lay that round the front of the windscreen to make a longer 'aerial', but whether it is worth it or not is questionable. Most car DAB installations have a fairly long internal aerial installed. So, for now I am resigned to listening to podcasts and music in the car which is OK. If it had worked it may have been useful at times, but it is not a killer for me. I wanted it to take on my travels as it is very neat and compact compared to any other DAB radio - it is, in effect, not much bigger than my normal headphones which I would be taking with me anyway.

I'm doing my internship at a litte Telekom company. I'm investigating how they can use MS SharePoint as their central place to put projectinformation. Now i've been thinking what happends when i do the following:
Make one document library
Add 2 groups to the Active Directory, group "A" with all the employees and group "B" with only four people working on a project. When i add a document to the document library and set the authorizations for the document as
follows:
Group B: Read/Write
Group A: Read
Does the people from group B still be able to edit the document, because they are also in group A?
I don't have a test environment to test this myself.
Why i want to know this? The company want's one place to place all their documents with projectinformation. This information is about different projects. You only wan't that people can change the specific document when they are working on the specific project
where the document belongs to.

You get the union of permissions, so if one group allows access and the other not, you will get the union of both and therefore access. Of course, you can break security settings per library/folder or document, and specify new settings,
if you need too.

the ".rm" extension is created by 'Real Media' application.
The easiest way to use it is to install the 'Real Media' player:
1. RealPlayer BBC.app
2. RealPlayer 12.app
I have both installed & use them sometimes.
(The 'BBC' wersion doesn't have any adverts with-in the app.)

Try reset all settings.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings. It won't delete any data.

What happended to the Solaris Crash Analysis Tool 4.2 for Solaris 10?
I'm trying to debug a kernel panic under Solaris 10 on sparcv9. I tried the SUNWscat 4.1 package but it core dumps on Solaris 10. I found a blog entry that described the problem and mentioned a version 4.2 fix. That was from May 2006, but I have not found any update sense then. Was 4.2 ever released or is their an alternative tool for Solaris 10 that I can use?

One problem is that those of us who develop Solaris CAT do so as a "hobby" as it's not part of our actual jobs. But he good news is that management gave us the time to get a release out and 5.0 is now available here . We're now planning 6 month releases so we don't have a 5 year delay between updates.
BTW, the Solaris Crash Analysis Tool supports Solaris 10, OpenSolaris/Solaris Nevada, sparc, and x86/x64.
There are so many enhancements and bug fixes that I'd recommend reading the release notes (SUNWscat/docs/index.html).

I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes. I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format. However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there. I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC. I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.

I am a Jr Oracle DBA, though I have several years of SYBASE experience my knowledge of Oracle is very minimal. With the large base of excellent Oracle masters and guru's, I rather remain a junior in this field because there is a lot to learn from everyone.
I have been using this forum and others on OTN and metalink to learn from others problems and solutions. Trying out stuff and learning along. Never needed to post anything yet because I could find most of what I was looking for from the documentation, books and forums such as these. So this is my first post, sad to say that I have to write on this first
Over the past 3 days or so I have noticed very unhealthy discussions by certain individuals such as ‘ohiostate’. He has been accusing the entire professional community in several layers, authors, volunteers, publishers and user groups. The thread “A Good Guideline book for Database systems” is a perfect example..
First of all, when people write such generic statements and generic advices they should have the basic commitment to disclose themselves. Otherwise they should be treated as anonymous and deleted. But what happend to the moderator?
By using such generic names in their user ids and using such abusive language, accusing others, who does he represent, causing disgrace to all the Oracle users from Ohio State or Ohio State University?
Everything this user has mentioned should be taken with little or no value. This user in particular is a disgrace to the Oracle user community. How does he call himself a Oracle DBA?
Moderator, could you delete the threads/replies created by this individual and bring some health to this discussion forum? or merely do something with this person?

I agree with you, unfortunately there have been several individual whose contributions are less than non-sense couple of bytes such as "read the manual" without even worrying about pointing out to the specific piece of manual, or even worst, suggesting to read a manual they have even not read themselves. There have been other cases even worst who in a completely anonymous way attack and harass other members from the forum, those individuals have been removed from the forum several times, there was an individual who directly attacked Justin Cave several times, it attacked also Andrew Clark aka APC, and it was removed along with its rubbish threads.
Sad to hear this is the topic for your first post, but at the same time, I feel glad this forum at least has served at a certain extent to solve your problems, so you have not had the need to start a post on your own. Solving an specific problem for an OP or indirectly serving others as accurately as possible is the spirit of the forum.

Latest version for iPad, what happend to the sort function?
I have very big lists and I can't live without that function, I need to be able to sort the list descending.
So my latest adds will end up in TOP, not bottom.
I also need this function in my iPhone aswell...

Even if there is a new super-spotify under development... (that only might have that function..?)
I can only hope that this new super-spotify app will have the sorting functions that are compareable to the Windows version of Spotify, eg sort on track, artist, time, album ,added date. It's not a tricky thing to add and it should have been added years ago.
It's a real pain in the ass right now with big playlists in my iOS devices.
