What happened? And why?...I had to press the start button...
I was in class this morning and used my computer as usual. When the class finished I tried putting it to sleep, but it wouldn't work. Since I had to rush out I just put the lid down and went back home. When I got back home I took out the computer and apparently it was still on! (even though the lid was down). Obvioulsy my computer sleeve was hot and so was my computer. After a while, I tried re-starting it but it wouldn't respond. SO I was forced to press the start button. What happened and why wouldn't my computer sleep? What would you recomend me to do in these cases? And the fact that it was on while in the case, was this bad?
Can't tell you exactly what happened, but if the problem persists, you may want to try an SMC reset, wich addresses many sleep and shutdown issues:

Hope this helps,

Can someone assist me!
Hello,
now today is the day I've finally received my replacement board. The good news first - it DOES work! Yepeeee!
Now some more information:
The jmicron controller seems to be missing - a screen with something about "Marvel" is shown before the intel raid screen. However, it is only visible for a fraction of second, so I cannot read it. I think it detects my IDE DVD-RW so I'm quite certain it's the replacement for jmicron. I won't miss it - it took me ages to install Linux with the jmicron controller.
The problem where I had to restart the computer sometimes because it didn't even post (RAM error) is gone. It boots just fine now.
I had an extremely long first post - about a minute, but after that it boots very fast now.
anyway, regarding some questions around here - the manual states MSI recommends using an 350W power supply. My 400W is more than enough. Please note - it is an Enermax, not one bundled with a cheap case. My cheap RAM sticks also work very well now. I did try them on different boards before, so now I know I just had a faulty board.
In the end, I can only say this: This is my 3rd board already and it's the first one that works well. As the hardware changed, I presume there were major issues with this board that lead them to make a new revision. What is strange, though, is that the revision is still 1.1, as were my previous two. I pity everybody who had the same problems as I did, but I can now say that I'm very happy about the board now.
Cheers, muro -

Just reset your phone:
Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.
This should let you use the phone normally, no restore needed. -
So just like last time I tried to update my iPhone software...MY PHONE IS FROZEN. Displaying iTunes icon and a USB cable I pressed the Power button and the menu botton together until the apple icon appeared held them down for 10 secs & NOTHING Now what? Do I just wait for the battery to run out?
Hi Careesa,
Your iPhone is in recovery mode-- you need to connect it to your computer and, most likely, iTunes will ask you to restore it. If you recently backed up this shouldn't be too much of a problem. -
My MacBook pro retina display 15 inch (2013) doesn't start. After I press the start button there is only a beep sound at regular interval. The screen remains blank and the keys don,t light up. Can anyone help please?
If your MBP is under warranty, bring it to an Apple store and have the technicians fix it. If not, try the steps in this support article:

i recebtly bought an app (FIFA 12) now every time i play a match after the match it does not save an just goes to the home page without warning and i have to start all over again and no i did not press the home button. plz help
You can't gift it, gifting can only be done from within the store, not from within your library.
Puchases are considered final but you can try the 'report a problem' link to contact iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption -
Hi there, when i press the start button on my G4 twin processor, the light inside the button comes on until I let go when it goes back off and the machine does not start up. Any ideas?
Sounds a bit like the Power Supply, but...
If you don't know the model, find the Serial# & use it on one of these sites, but don't post the Serial# here...

i bought an imac today, wen i am browsing/downloading, it keeps asking me to restart using the start button(forcefully). please help me rectify the problem..thanks
As others have noted, this is a classic kernel panic (KP) and should happen with a new machine. AppleCare's Express Lane. Do note that if you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.
FWIW, see
What is a kernel panic,
Technical Note TN2063: Understanding and Debugging Kernel Panics,

Resolving Kernel Panics, and

My IPad shut down this afternoon and now it won't start up. It's less than 1 year old. I tried plugging it in and pressing the on/off button. After holding the button in for several seconds, the Apple icon appears, but then disappears.
First, try this:
Plug it in to the wall using an Apple charger and Apple cable for several hours. The idea is to fully charge it.
Then hold the home and on/off buttons together for about 10 seconds. Hopefully the Apple logo will appear and it will start. Do not release the buttons until you see the Apple logo.
If it starts, great. If not, you say your iPad is less than a year old. If you bought it brand new from an Apple Store or Authorized Apple vendor, it is under warranty. Take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center for diagnosis and repair. -
i already charged it but nothing shows in the screen.. i did the long pressing both home button and sleep/wake button still no result.. please help me..
If it has a temperature warning, you may have over heated it. Keep it inside and at a cooler temperature exposure. Give it some time. Try holding down the home button and the power button at the same time until something happens.

I inadvertently pushed the "archive" button in Mail and one my messages was 'sucked' away. I was wondering what happens to these archived messages and whether it is possible to retrieve them.
Thank you for the help! That will be in your Gmail account at a guess.

MBP shuts down immediately on pressing the start button
Hi !
I have an early (1.st generation I guess) MacBook Pro, that has taken on a weird behaviour. The issue has arised while a child was fidling about with th computer, so how the illness occured, I don't know :-/
The symptom is really annoying: as soon as the power button is pressed, about 2 seconds of HD spinning can be heard, and then the shut-down click sounds. Nothing can bring the computer to life. The battery is full, and the power cord is fully functional.
Anyone with an idea of what I have to do to bring the computer back to life?
Best, PinoI have opened up the MBP, dismantled the DVD drive, and extracted the DVD inside, reassembled and restarted. No effect. So, it's not the DVD drive causing the problem.
For some weeks, the MBP has had no power connection, and I was suprised when I yesterday reattached the power cord and tried to start up the thing. Absolutely nothing happened. No sound or action whatsoever. But after beeing connected for an hour or so, things were back to normal: clicking starup sounds from spinning-up hardware, but immediate shutdown after two seconds.
This leads me to ask the following question: could this be caused by a some little battery on the motherboard? It seems to me, that the problem is connected to insufficient charging, but the Mac should be able to operate without its main battery, when the powercord is connected and lights properly up.
Best, Pino
