Are you talking about the English dictionary? Mine seems to work ok on the AZ republic web page. Does yours not work on all webpages? Does it not work when you type an English word in Notes and then do select and define? -
I bought a new iPod Classic and it won't turn off when plugged into a home theater dock. Is this normal and will it hurt the iPod if i leave it on all the time?
Hi there,
How old is your Classic? Often, after a couple of years, rechargable batteries begin to fail, especially after such a long period of inactivity. This happens with any gadget with this type of battery.
Try leaving it plugged in for 24 hours, and try again, to rule out that it isn't just really low on charge. If this doesn't help, it may be a good time to buy a replacement. New iPod Nanos and Touches will be released this October.

I give up. I was ok with version 16.0 and firefox 16.02 was automatically downloaded to y Mac Book Pro Version 10.8.2 Mountain Lion. I would like to go back to Firefox 15.0. How can I do this? If this cannot be done, I will uninstall Firefox 16.02 and only use the Chrome and Safari Browsers. I have been using Firefox for more than 10 years and I leave Firefox with great regret. You simply cannot compete with Google Chrome.
Have you tried to Reset Firefox? that will likely fix many of your problems with Firefox. [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]

Waterfox can coexist peacefully with Waterfox. I have both installed, but never use Firefox any more.
Not only can Waterfox run in 64-bit address space, it also is better optimized during compile time than Firefox. (For obvious reasons; Firefox is compatible with many old systems, Waterfox only needs to be compatible with new 64-bit systems.)
P.S. regarding Chris' advice above; Firefox and Waterfox use the same profile, so if that is actually the problem, then it will occur in both browsers. -
I use a desktop version of Lightroom and am wanting to move to the Cloud version. What happens to my files, etc., on my desktop when I download the cloud version? I don't want to lose my metadata, etc. If anyone out there knows, please let me know.
I just installed LR CC and am having trouble opening catalogs where I followed the instructions to upgrade. Just posted a question about it.
Discovered a problem when I went looking for some images that were not included in the most recent catalog. After opening up a couple of older ones and upgrading, I went back to the most recent and couldn't opening. Message says it is not writable. And also says it may be due to incorrect permissions. If you have any suggestions for this, I would love to hear them. -
Just done a replacement of the pata DVD drive (its new and is working ok), and a fresh clean install of Snow Leopard with all updates, iMac 5.1 behaves strange, sometimes I start Google Chrome and look at youtube videos the computer freezes and shuts down immediately,

iStat Pro shows GPU diode temp at 66 C, CPU at 48 C, Fan rpms is around 1000

There shouldn't be need to reinstall OS X fresh unless your having file structure issues which if they are should appear when in the Steps, which then a zero erase and install will cure as well as any bad sector issues, the defrag step wouldn't be necessarry on a freshly installed system obviously as the files are written all together, not in portions all over the drive.

So, back to SAFARI 7.1..how to stop this pop-up from crashing Safari 7.1You downloaded a beta copy of 7.1 because the current version is 7.0.5. There was a mixup yesterday and 7.1 was accidentally made available for downloading. Do you have a backup you can restore from to get 7.0.5?
You can also try running the combo update to see if it will restore it.

Right, like I'm trying to say, THERE IS NO SAFARI MENU bar. Example: I have multiple applications open, I click on a Photoshop window, the correct menu or title bar or whatever changes. Every other application window I click on brings up the correct "whatever" bar. If I click on the desktop, the "Finder Bar" shows up.
Everythiing else, BUT SAFARI, works the same way since OS X came out. This is ridiculous.
I'm getting the vibe that Apple is trying to get rid of the finder.... this is the way wrong direction. -

if I have two laptops connected to a single wireless hard drive (i.e. Time Capsule), what happens when one laptop wants to go on a trip and the other one needs to stay home? I'm afraid I know the answer, but I'm hoping Apple has a great solution to my problem.

The computer on a trip will do snapshot backups on the hard drive that will then be incorporated into the Time Machine backup once you get it back home. See

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder and enter or paste the appropriate command line. Press RETURN and enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed.
To turn them ON: sudo tmutil enablelocal
To turn them OFF: sudo tmutil disablelocal
Note that turning them OFF will also delete all existing snapshots. -
