WhAT HAPPENED TO AE Plugin support????????

What happened to AE plugin support under FCP 5.1.1 Intel?
I was told that the plugins would run under Rossetta, and I purchased Color Finesse 2 (ouch!!!) and it does not work. The guy from synthetic aperture (company who makes CF) told me ,"Unfortunately, the Intel version of FCP 5.1.1 does not support After Effects plug-ins."
Is this true???
If so, we need to let Apple know that this is a disaster. AE Plugin support is one of the most attractive features of FCP expandability.
Question? Comments? outrage? Please post....

I can sympathise - just one of those IT timing things.
Been caught myself.
Sometimes you have to wait for full support, which is frequently out of Apple's control - eg Adobe is classic. (you might remember - What was the very last heavy hitting app to get written for OS X ? Yup - PhotoShop.)
Or have the workaround figured out in advance.
Looks like you've got one ...

  • What happened to Cisco Presales Support

What happened to Cisco Presales Support? Did they get cut? I used to get outstanding service when I opened cases with them online. I had nothing but praise..
Their web link is gone now, only a phone number. I just called them and they pretty much told me to talk to my vendor.
That was a wasted of 15 minutes of my life that I will never get back..

  • What happened to chromium-plugins?

What happened to the AUR package that rips the Flash player and PDF reader from Chrome?
That package was useful because both plugins could be managed with one package, and I didn't have to download the Chrome browser twice.
I found something on Google about a removal request; was it deleted? Do I have to go back to the two separate packages?

go back to two separate packages. To not download the source twice, you can set SRCDEST in makepkg.conf, or simply copy it manually.
Duplicate packages are not allowed in the AUR.

  • What happened to Apple tech support?

I used to be able to "chat" with a tech online at any time of the day or night. Is that support gone?
I've been on hold for 25 minutes (on my cell... thanks, Apple) waiting for this number to pick-up... 800-275-2273.
That # was given to me by someone at Apple, although he'd never heard of the tech chat support (idiot or newbie).
    What's their deal?

I have to throw a little cold water on the on-line chat. I have used it several times, and found, each time, that the agent is working from a very limited script, and has a few stock answers that never actually addressed, much less solved, my problems.
It's a lovely idea, but unfortunately, it really doesn't work. Calling Apple, even with a wait to speak to a tech, is a much better bet, particularly if you can get moved up to a level two tech.
Hope this is of some use to you,
    Miriam

  • What happened to live chat support?

When trying to access Live Chat, a message appears "There was an error checking the queue." I have seen this for quite some time so I know it is not an intermittent issue. A link appears underneath this message "You can try starting a chat session." When I click this I am brought to a blank page with the title "Leave A Message." What is going on? Even at the bottom of the Contact Us page there is mention of live chat under Technical support.

    Hi,
I'm sorry this isn't completely clear on the web site, we are working on making changes to all of the web pages that refer to Live Chat because it is currently unavailable. We put the service 'on hiatus' two weeks ago because the client-side tools aren't sufficient for a good experience (for the user or the helper).
You can ask your question on this forum and we'll do our very best to help you out.

  • What happened to multiple camera support in OnLocation CS4?

Am I going crazy?  Didn't OnLocation CS4 support multiple cameras (changing between them with a drop down selection) after its first release?  But after one of those Adobe software upgrades it seems I need to close the app, turn off one camera, and start the application back up??
When I originally purchased my CS4 collection of software and began to use it, I used OnLocation to record clips from two identical Canon HV30 cameras.  In the "monitor" portion of the screen there was a drop down box that allowed to select between the two cameras currently attached to the computer.
However, after one of the several Adobe CS4 updates, this feature no longer seems to be included in the software.  There is no drop down box in the monitor window - instead it just says "Monitor: Canon Camcorder."
When I start OnLocation just one of the cameras shows up - the other is not even given as the option.  If I start OnLocation with only the second camcorder turned on, the software does in fact use that camcorder - so both work correctly with the software it just is either not recognizing both at the same time (as it did before) or refuses to let me change between them.
I can see both camcorders in the device manager.
I am not even asking for simultaneous recording here...

Yes, uninstalling 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 and rolling back to 4.0.0 should get you this feature back. However, I would strongly urge you not to do so. The patches fixed quite a few crasher bugs, so you'd be taking a big step backward in stability in return for that feature.
If the ability to switch cameras is essential to your workflow--and if you own CS3--I'd recommend that you use CS3 for your switching needs rather than running 4.0.

  • What happened to Microsoft Product Support Reporting Tool?

I was looking to examine the health of the Active Directory setup that I have inherited at my new position. I was going to download the Microsoft Product Support Reporting Tool to run some tests, but all of the links I could find are broken.
It seems to have been excized from the Microsoft website. The information page as well as direct download links are all missing.
I have searched for information relating to its retirement but found nothing.
Has this tool been removed permanetly? Is there a place I can get the last supported version?
    Thanks
    Derek

    Hi,
Thanks for posting in the forum.
For some reasons, we should replace the MPSReport Tool. For details, please refer to the following article.

My government issued PIV (personal identity verification) card used to work without any problems in Snow Leopard, it would just appear in my keychain and I could use my Cisco AnyConnect client to connect to a VPN with two-factor authentication.

  • [SOLVED] What happened to gedit-plugins-extra?

The gedit-plugins-extra package used to be in the AUR but is no more available there lately. A quick search with pkgfile revealed that it should be in community now:
    $ pkgfile LaTeXPlugin.gedit-plugin
    community/gedit-plugins-extra
Yet I cannot find such a (x86_64) package neither on my up-to-date mirror nor via "Package Search" on the home page.

schuay wrote:gedit-plugins-extra is being removed from community, afaik individual plugins will be repackaged.
you should get some more infos in a bit.
That is correct. Quoting the email I sent to aur-general:
I removed it from [community] because upstream stopped updating the plugin collection around two years ago. Most of the plugins included in the last release (2.24.1) are badly outdated by now. The preferable course of action is to add individual packages to the AUR for each of the plugins. (Packages for the latex and autotab plugins already exist.)
    Sorry for the confusion.

  • What happened to QT Preferences and Flip4Mac WMV support?

What happened to the QT Preferences option in the menu and Flip4Mac WMV Plugins support in the latest version of QT v10 on Snow Leopard?

<font color="blue"What happened to the QT Preferences option in the menu and Flip4Mac WMV Plugins support in the latest version of QT v10 on Snow Leopard?</font>
Some QT preferences are still alive and will in the QT 7.6.3 version. With regard to Flip4Mac, it still operates in the 32-mode provided it is still linked properly (like the QT MPRG-2 Playback and Perian components, it may have to be re-installed following a user installation of Snow Leopard) and provided the switching between 64- and 32-bit modes is working properly.

  • What Happens to Me after 6/30/12?  My devices are not supported!!!

What Happens to Me after 6/30/12?  Do I get to keep my @me.com address from MobileMe because My Mac, PC nor iOS device is supported by iCloud
On 6/30/12 All ACTIVE MobileMe accounts that havn't MOVED to iCloud will be deleted as MobileMe is no longer available.
Yes, this has a lot of customers upset, but you can still keep your account active and going until you are able to address the issue with the current versions of your computer and devices.
iCloud does have a web based version like any other email address out there.  You may not be able to access the account on your Computers or devices as you would like to for what ever reason, but this will help you to keep your email address and gain access to it.
    iCloud: Supported system requirements
You can KEEP your MobileMe email address and move it to iCloud even though your devices are not compatible and here is how.
****Mac OS X 10.4.11 and before: DOES NOT fall into this catagorey as 10.4.11 doesn't Support Safari 5.****
NON-Supported Devices & Browsers for iCloud
    DEVICES & COMPUTERS

    iPhone 3Gs
    iPod Touch 2nd Generation
    BROWSERS
    Safari 4
    FireFox 3
    Google Chrome 11
Before moving the account to iCloud.  First create a MobileMe back up of all your data.  This will ensure it has been saved to your computer.
How to back up MobileMe data:
    Summary
You can back up your MobileMe data to your Mac or Microsoft Windows-based PC.
This is different from syncing with MobileMe: syncing should not be considered a backup of your data because changes to the data can propagate automatically.
Sync your MobileMe account to me.com and your current iOS device if you have one.
Make sure the data has synced to the device and http://me.com.
Then you will need to DISABLE MobileMe syncing from your Computer and Devices
    On the iPhone
To delete your MobileMe account from the iPhone/Pad/Pod Touch, tap Settings ☞ Mail, Contacts, Calendars ☞ Tap your MobileMe account.  Next, you will turn the sliders off for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks Calendars.  You are going to be asked if you want to keep or delete the data from the iPhone/Pad/Pod Touch.  Make sure you KEEP on the iPhone/Pad/Pod Touch.
    This will prevent data loss.
☞ Then Tap Delete Account. DON'T FORGET TO KEEP THE DATA ON THE DEVICE!!!
    On the Mac
Click on  ☞ System Preferences ☞ MobileMe ☞ Account tab ☞ Sign Out.
To Move your account to iCloud
☞☞☞☞IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO BACK UP THE MOBILEME DATA AND TO SIGN OUT OF MOBILEME ON ALL DEVICES AS THIS CAN CAUSE POSSIBLE DATA LOSS DUE TO THE CURRENT OS YOU ARE USING.*****
Link: MobileMe: About moving to iCloud
    Summary
If you have an active MobileMe account when you move to iCloud, you’ll be able to keep your @me.com or @mac.com email address and move your MobileMe Mail, Contacts, and Calendars, as well as your Bookmarks, to the new service.
    Go to http://me.com/move
Log in with your FULL MobileMe email address including @me.com
(For @mac users, use @me.com just to log in.  You will later see your account is @mac.com still)
As you go thorough the prompts, you will see an ALERT regarding if your OS is supported by iCloud.
Ignore this and select YES.  This will contiue the iCloud set up.
Once it is done, you will have web access to iCloud via a supported browser (see below) for iCloud.
    icloud.com
To access your mail, contacts, calendars, Find My iPhone, and iWork documents from your computer's web browser, one of these browsers is required:
    Safari 5 or later
    Firefox 5 or later
    Internet Explorer 8 or later
    Chrome 12 or later
