What happened to Allocation & Forecast in OLAP 11gR1 (AWM)?
Hello all,
Does anybody know what happened to allocation and forecast features in OLAP 11gR1 (AWM)?
These were available as step types in "Calculation Plans" in 10gR2. In 11gR1 "Cube Scripts" seems to be the descendant of "Calculation Plans"; but there are no allocation nor forecast steps types available in "Cube Scripts".
I suppose an OLAP DML script could be used for allocation/forecast but that doesn't seem to be a feaure for let's say a business analyst without programming knowledge (of OLAP DML).
Best regards,
Javor
You can create Allocation and Forecast in 10g style AWs only using AWM 11g
The newer 11g style AWs do not support Allocation and Forecast yet.

What happens when DBU reaches 100%
What happens to batch jobs requesting or creating VTV's when the DBU is reaching 100%? The doc says that when the DBU reaches 95%, the VTCS will switch to space release mode to try to free up space as fast as possible. But if you have peak batch processing possibly allocating up to 256 VTD's and writing lots of data, it appears there can be situations where the DBU could reach 100%.
1. What happens to the batch jobs that are trying to write to the cache if DBU is 100%?
a. Do they fail if cache space has been exhausted?
b. Or do they go into a wait state or slow the writes until space is freed up.
2. Has this ever happened to anybody?
a. What was the impact?
b. What was put into place to prevent this from happening again?
TIA,
MikeHi,

What happens after TM deletes full backup & only incrementals are left?
If I understand this correctly, Time Machine does 1 complete backup & then incremental backups after that. If that's correct, what happens when the full backup is about to be erased because the backup drive is full? Does TM alert you to this & ask if you want to create a new full backup instead of another incremental one? Also, is there any way to get TM to create a log so you can see at a glance what's in the incremental backups without having to click through all the folders in each one?
TIA,
ElllenAnswering this dives into how files are represented on a disk. Basically, a disk is a huge expanse of storage space and an index/catalogue/"table of contents". When you copy data to a disk you physically copy the data into the storage space and then make a reference in the index as to where it resides on the disk. The operating system sees the reference, and doesnt go scouring the disk for files whenever you open a folder. This makes finding files and tracking their locations in the directory tree much easier. A single index-link to a storage chunk is called a "hard link". When the operating system "deletes" a file, it doesnt erase it from storage, but instead just removes the "hard link" index entry.
Since files are referenced through an index instead of reading the actual storage space of the disk itself, you can have multiple references in the index to the same chunk of storage space. Hence, you can have multiple hard links which are essentially the same file.
Keeping that in mind, read on...
Every "incremental" backup is a representation of the full backup, including the first "full" backup. Its no different than any other backup (the only difference is that it was the first one so it took longer to copy everything over). Once a file is copied over to the backup disk, it is referred to by a "hard link" in the disk's index. This is essentially how a disk points to a file on any drive. It copies the data over and then creates a hard link to the file's physical location on the disk, which is how the file is accessed by the operating system (or rather, howe the operating system knows the file exists on the disk). You can have multiple hard links to a file, where the same allocation of disk space is pointed to by two different hard links in the index. As such, you can have two representations of the same file (and therefore two links to it) represented on the same disk. If you delete one of the hard links, it will behave as if it's deleted the file, but in fact the file will still remain on disk and will be accessible through the second hard link.
Note that this is different from an Alias (which is also called a "soft link"), which is a file in itself that points to a single hard link. An alias can be removed without the original file being touched.
When TM does the initial backup it copies all the contents over to the backup disk, and then creates hard links to those files which it represents in the first backup folder. When the next backup occurs, any changed files are copied over with new hard links created. The unchanged files, however, are not copied again but instead are just referred to again with new hard links in the new backup folder. As such, new files have one hard link to them (until the next backup), and the old files have two (one in the current backup folder and one in the previous folder). This creates a situation where if the first backup folder is deleted, the original files that were copied are not lost, as they are still represented by hard links in the newer backup folder, and can be accessed that way.
So, why is this different than creating aliases to the original files in the initial backup? Since aliases are just files that point to hard links, if Aliases to the original backups were used instead of hard links, when the original hard links in the initial backup folder are removed the aliases would no longer point to anything anymore and the files would be gone. This defeats the purpose of a backup.
When a file changes from the initial backup, on the next backup the newer version will be copied over and a new hard link to it will be created. If you delete all hard links to the initial backup (by deleting the initial backup folder) the newer file will still be there in the new folder but all references to the old file will be gone and you'll be left with only the new file (along with everything else that was unchanged).
Now to answer your question: Basically, when the old backups are deleted by Time Machine, its not the full/initial backup that's deleted, but only the old versions of files that have been changed. All the original files that were not changed are still there, represented in every backup (new and old) by hard links. -
What happens to volume customers with upgrade plans?
We're a nonprofit TLP customer with a few dozen licenses for the Creative Suite, InDesign standalone, stuff like that. When we buy new licenses, we always buy the upgrade plan. And we keep those upgrade plans current - management loves the fact that we can predict costs for Adobe software two years ahead.
Linked PDF says:
Make your software budget more predictable
Predicting timelines and prices for upgrades of your current software licenses can be challenging, but budgeting for Adobe upgrades doesn’t have to be. By investing in Upgrade Plan, your organization can lock in a set price for all future upgrade licenses that are released during the length of your Upgrade Plan coverage period.* This takes the guesswork out of software budgeting and buys you tomorrow’s software at today’s prices. For a percentage of the license cost, your organization gets access to the latest Adobe products, which streamlines software management and stabilizes budget forecasts. In addition, Upgrade Plan costs can be paid up front or through annual payments, allowing flexibility in the purchasing process.
I've not been able to find any information about what happens to our upgrade plan. (And when I called Adobe CS, I was disconnected after 70 minutes on hold. And when I tried CS chat, they told me to call in.) Has anything been posted or said about institutions with upgrade plan coverage?Actually, Jeff, I wound up coming here and posting this as a result of my conversation with my sales rep. I have also already contacted Adobe Volume CS and found some answers - answers that were, notably, nowhere in the FAQ.
To be honest, I'd come back here to mark Arjit's response as "helpful" as that is obviously what he was trying to be. I can also see why his answer could be marked as correct, as this question should (his term) be covered in the FAQ, although it is not. However, your answer is also correct - there is no one global answer for all AVL customers still covered by an Upgrade Plan, and that each volume customer will need to contact the Adobe Volume Licensing Team.
Seeing as random internet people have been emailing me out of the blue for years with difficult questions on the strength of an answer marked as "correct" on these forums, I wanted to ensure that none of the AVL customers who were searching for answers found this conversation with a search, and then went and read the entire FAQ over and over again without finding any answers, as I did. -
What Happen into Tablespace, when Drop Any Object??
Hi people.
I have a question about the store into tablespace, What happen when you make the follow taks into database:ç
When you drop a table??? Change the size into tablespace?? Reduce the Size on tablespace..??
What are the diferents between Delete table and Truncate Table...Change the size into tablespace?? Reduce the Size on tablespace..??
Thank a lot for your help and Answers..Because I can clear my mind in diferents concepts.

Regards.Well, you could test it for yourself and see for yourself . .
However,
Nothing you have described changes the size of the tablespace. Those actions simply free up previously allocated space within the tablespace, allowing it to be
reused.
DROP TABLE releases all the extents allocated to that table, allowing the space they occupied to be allocated to any segment that may need it - AND REMOVES THE TABLE FROM THE DATABASE (well, there are now recyclebin considerations, but that is a different question).
DELETE just deletes rows from a table, freeing up space on the blocks that those rows occupied. All of the extents allocated to that table remain allocated to it but the space vacated by the deleted rows is available to be re-used by new rows within that table.
TRUNCATE table releases all the extents allocated to that table, allowing the space they occupied to be allocated to any segment that may need it, BUT UNLIKE DROP TABLE, the table structure remains in place.
The above is just a high-level description of the differences, there are some details that some people will call me out on, but for your level of understanding these are sufficient for the moment. You really, REALLLY need to spend more time in the Concepts manual. -
What happens inside ...... when fired Index Reorganize
Hi all,
what happens inside ...... when fired Index Reorganize
Thanks
vijayLogical scan fragmentation is removed (where possible). This can improve performance of certain queries, because it reduces the amount of big disk head movements need to go through all the pages.
In addition to that, it brings the amount of unused space in line with the original fill factor of the index. If you haven't specified any fill factor when the index was first created, then all unused space will be removed (where possible). It does this
by joining the rows of multiple pages onto fewer pages and releasing the empty pages. This can improve performance of many queries, since fewer I/O and less memory is now needed to access the same amount of row data.
When the command runs, it will lock just one or a few pages at a time. This way, most blocking is avoided, and any blocking that does occur will be short lived.
This also means that the reorganization occurs inline, within the pages and extents that are already allocated for the specific index. This is one of the big differences with Reindexing, where new pages (and extents) are allocated.

What happens on iCloud when multiple family members use the same Apple ID? For example if we all choose to use iCloud for contacts, are they all merged together? We use the same Apple ID so we can use find my iPhone to keep track of the whole family.
Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this. -
What happens to the open item in bsid table when it is cleared
hi experts,
i have a doubt about open and cleared items of accounting documents. as we know open items of customers are stored in bsid and cleared ones in bsad. For suupose, an open item is closed ina particular period then what happened to the entry in bsid and bsad table. an entry regarding is stored in bsad (cleared),and what happens to the entry in bsid, still it will be there or removed from it.Hi,
When ever we clear the document(Complete payment) that document will be moved to BSAD table. Other wise it will remain in BSID.
If u are making partial payment then all the partial payment documents along with original document will be stored in BSID till u made the complete payment for that invoice.
Assumption is u have to give all partial payment documents made for particular invoice item while u are making complete payment in F-28 transaction. So that these partail payment documents will also be cleared while making complete payment and moved to BSAD table.
This trasaction can be used for both partial and complete payments.
Irrespective of complete or partial payments made all the documents will remain stored in BKPF and BSEG tables.
BSID and BSAD are index tables to address performance issues with BKPF and BSEG tables.
So all open and cleared documents will be there in BKPF and BSEG tables.
All cleared documents will be there in BSAD table.
Alll open documents will be there in BSID table.
Hope it is clear.
Thanks,
Vinod. -

Current State:
• I have a customer running CUCM 6.1 and UCCX 7.01SR5. Currently their CUCM is *NOT* LDAP integrated and using local accounts only. UCCX is AXL integrated to CUCM as usual and is pulling users from CUCM and using CUCM for login validation for CAD.
• The local user accounts in CUCM currently match the naming format in active directory (John Smith in CUCM is jsmith and John Smith is jsmith in AD)
Goal:
• Upgrade software versions and migrate to new hardware for UCCX
• LDAP integrate the CUCM users
Desired Future State and Proposed Upgrade Method
Using the UCCX Pre Upgrade Tool (PUT), backup the current UCCX 7.01 server.
Then during a weekend maintenance window……
• Upgrade the CUCM cluster from 6.1 to 8.0 in 2 step process
• Integrate the CUCM cluster to corporate active directory (LDAP) - sync the same users that were present before, associate with physical phones, select the same ACD/UCCX line under the users settings as before
• Then build UCCX 8.0 server on new hardware and stop at the initial setup stage
• Restore the data from the UCCX PUT tool
• Continue setup per documentation
At this point does UCCX see these agents as the same as they were before?
Is the historical reporting data the same with regards to agent John Smith (local CUCM user) from last week and agent John Smith (LDAP imported CUCM user) from this week ?
I have the feeling that UCCX will see the agents as different almost as if there is a unique identifier that's used in addition to the simple user name.
We can simplify this question along these lines
Starting at the beginning with CUCM 6.1 (local users) and UCCX 7.01. Let's say the customer decided to LDAP integrate the CUCM users and not upgrade any software.
If I follow the same steps with re-associating the users to devices and selecting the ACD/UCCX extension, what happens?
I would guess that UCCX would see all the users it knew about get deleted (making them inactive agents) and the see a whole group of new agents get created.
What would historical reporting show in this case? A set of old agents and a set of new agents treated differently?
Has anyone run into this before?
Is my goal possible while keeping the agent configuration and HR data as it was before?I was doing some more research looking at the DB schema for UCCX 8.
Looking at the Resource table in UCCX, it looks like there is primary key that represents each user.
My question, is this key replicated from CUCM or created locally when the user is imported into UCCX?
How does UCCX determine if user account jsmith in CUCM, when it’s a local account, is different than user account jsmith in CUCM that is LDAP imported?
Would it be possible (with TAC's help most likely) to edit this field back to the previous values so that AQM and historical reporting would think the user accounts are the same?
Database table name: Resource
The Unified CCX system creates a new record in the Resource table when the Unified CCX system retrieves agent information from the Unified CM.
A Resource record contains information about the resource (agent). One such record exists for each active and inactive resource. When a resource is deleted, the old record is flagged as inactive; when a resource is updated, a new record is created and the old one is flagged as inactive. -
New Data in R/3 Enterprise - ABAP Proxies - XI what happen?
Hi,
i have a theoretical question:
if i use R/3 Enterprise on WAS and put new Data in the R/3 System and transport them to XI with ABAP Proxies. What happens in the systems?
How do the R/3 System put new data in the proxy runtime and send them to xi?
I want to unterstand how the transport from new data in a R/3 System with ABAP Proxies comes to the XI Integration Server.Hi Marcel,
>>>>>How do the R/3 System put new data in the proxy runtime and send them to xi?
all you need to do in r3 is to fill tables of a generated structure
and execute one method of a generated class (send....)
then R3 will connect over HTTP to XI and send the data from your structures
structures and class in R3 is being generated automatically via TCODE SPROXY

What happened to my entire 3000+ songs in my library I used to see when I opened iTunes? I only see the most recently purchased. How do I get them back? I don't have an I phone to play they on, only a droid.
Pammie49Hi Sarah,
It sounds like the songs have either not yet synced over to the iPhone, or something went wrong when attempting to sync to the iPhone. My recommendation is to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox.
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
If the above does not resolve your issue, see the following articles:
iOS: Syncing with iTunes

iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
