What Happened To Beloved "Random Play?"
This problem showed up after downloading Version 6. Used to be I could press the "Shuffle" button and all the songs in my Library would play randomly.
But now turning Shuffle on has no effect at all. Whether the button's engaged or not (i.e., whether the scrambled arrows are blue or not), the songs play straight through, alphabetical order.
What to do? Thanks.
Quit iTunes.
Locate "com.apple.itunes.plist" in ~/your user name/Library/Preferences and drag it to the trash.
Resart iTunes. If the problem has been solved, empty the trash.

Adding wife to Match. What happens to my ratings/play counts?
My wife and I have been using the same Apple ID for iTunes for years, but only I have been on iTunes Match. Lately, our libraries have diverged enough that it's hard to keep track. I thought I'd just set up iTunes Match on her computer and then we could each see the Amazon.com songs we buy, CDs we rip, etc. The big question has been how iTunes Match would handle playlists, ratings, and play counts...
Question 1: I believe I solved the playlist question by creating a playlist folder on each computer with our first name and then dragging our playlists into it. Testing just on my side, iTunes Match correctly uploaded the folder with all my playlists, so I assume adding her Mac would mean we'd have each other's folders and could just keep the folder that applies to us expanded. Is this correct?
Question 2: How will iTM handle ratings and play counts? My wife doesn't tend to spend much time rating (only about 200 songs), but I spend a great deal. Will her "no rating" songs overwrite my "5 star" songs to be "no rating?" The reverse? How will iTM handle a situation where I've rated a song 4 stars and she rated it 2? How will it handle play counts? Additive?
We both know we can't maintain our own metadata sets, so we're fine if they wind up being merged, but it's important to know what happens on the initial sync when her library is added to mind.

2. If it is the same song you're rating, then iTM will use the latest rating. When her library is added if there are any dups they will be seen as the most recent. However it should be a simple matter to change the ratings. Once both libraries get added you can see how things work and come to agreement on what works best for you. -
What Happened to the Menu Play Buttons
I created a DVD using iDVD and saved it as a disk image. I opened Toast and dropped the AUDIO_TS and the VIDEO_TS files into the "Data" window. I also dropped all of the raw assets that I used to make the DVD into the window so they would be on the DVD for use someone elses computer.
The resulting DVD worked fine once it was burned to the disk on my computer, but when I tried to play it on our TV the individual movie selections do not respond.I know it is complicated and it is my fault, sorry. I have a Mac G5 running system 10.4.7. I am using iLife 6.0.2 and Toast 6.0. I have been using iLife for a couple of years and have made many short DVDs using iDVD with no problems. I read an artical in the July, 2005 issue of Macworld on page 78 titled "Prevent DVD Disasters". It tells how to make several DVDs using the disk image method. It also says that you can put the raw images on the disk. I did not try to use disk utility as they suggested. I wanted to use Toast as they also explained. I have made three attempts and each has failed to work properly. Since the movies that I made in iMovie were so short the movies and the raw data fits on the DVD with no problem.
I created two movies and an intrduction. I work with teenagers in our church. About a dozen of us camped out in the woods behind our house, played paintball and went swimming. I took all of the pictures with a Canon camera. The introduction is 1minute and 14 seconds, consisting of movie clips and still shots. The first movie that I made was combining 8 video clips that I made using iMovie, the movie is less than 3 minutes long. The second movie consists of one video clip that runs for 33 seconds and 24 still pictures, this movie runs for less than 5 minutes.
Here is what I am trying to do, one include the raw data and make 6 copies of the DVD with out having to make them with iDVD one at a time. I know that if I use iDVD and make them one at a time it takes much longer than making them from a disk copy. I know it would not be much trouble with this short DVD, but I would like to learn so I could make longer DVDs and save time. -

2. Restore to a backup.

What Happened? Imovie used to play .mpg with audio.
I have a new Imac 27in. The firsst few days after opening it. I hooked up my panasonic video camera, and uploaded and edited several videos, in .mpg. Now i cannot even get Imoive to recognize a .mpg. I can get quicktime to play the video but without audio. Quicktime used to play the audio also. I never changed any settings. I do not know what happened.
Any way to fix this.The Apple cable below is the one I use, but I've also used non-Apple cables with no issues.

Hi - in my opinion, it sounds like you might have more than a normal heat and battery drain issue - the iPhone will heat up and use up the battery under intense usage but it shouldn't crash unless you let the battery drain completely - the most disturbing part is the slowness when on LTE - my phone is actually faster on LTE than wi-fi - however you cannot compare the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5 - and if you are not satisfied with the local Genius bar, I would contact Apple directly and see what they say - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/ - also check out my previous post - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4525586?tstart=0 - having said all this however what your are experiencing could be normal in your situation - I hope this helps.

After loading the new OS my songs do not play correctly, is anyone else having this issue? Titles are wrong on songs and it just doesn’t play certain songs in random play or even if you select them individually. What’s up? Kind of frustrating!!!
I had the same issue. In fact I posted it yesterday, but didn't get any replies. I physically synched my phone to PC iTunes. on the PC, under the phone/music tab, I unchecked the synch music box and then the apply button to remove all of the music from my phone. Then once that synch finished, I went back and selected all music, and synch music and apply to put it back on to the phone. So far, I haven't had an issue again, but I also haven't listened very long. Hope this helps!

Sorry, but if you see the "connect to iTunes" screen on your phone, the only option is to restore, backing up the phone is not possible at this point, even importing the photos might not work anymore.

plug and play. well that is a windows term.. Apple decided they didn't need uPnP on the Time Capsule because that is just so windows.. so they use there own system.. called NAT-PMP.. (port mapping protocol). Just to make sure that things like playstation, xbox, etc could not open ports properly. And windows machines of course should be excluded from playing.

"simple english".. unfortunately networking requires the use of a fair number of terms people are just unfamiliar with.
The big lie was computers and networking are easy. Computers in isolation might be fine.. but as soon as you link things in networks.. it gets much harder.. and people who do study for a couple of years just to diploma level in networking haven't done it because they are dumb and could have read the simple english manual overnight. But because it is complex.
I try and explain it this way.. if your washing machine goes bung, do you start pulling it to pieces and trying to find the fault.. or do you call the washing machine repairman.. who has trained to fix washing machines.
If your computer or networking goes bad.. then "who are you going to call?" The manufacturer and complain about how hard it is to setup a $100 piece of equipment and expect them to give two hours of hand holding for free on the phone. People would never call a computer support technician.. no this is easy.. it is in simple english somewhere.. and you only need to spend an hour and all will be fine. Even though you have as much training in networking as in washing machine repairs. Would you call the washing machine manufacturer and expect 2 hours of free phone support for you to strip down their washing machine.. after all it cost 6x times what the router cost?? Or has some strange lie grabbed hold of you that this is simple. -
Ever since I downloaded FF 4, I try to play Text Twist on 3 different websites and nothing happens. It attempts to load the game and I get a blank screen. All of the other games that I habitually play seem to be working fine. What happened?
I got it working with the help of Live Chat tech support. There was some sort of error happening with my graphics driver... something that was not a problem with my previous version of Photoshop was now a problem with the new version. I updated the graphic card driver and software via the manufacturer's website and that helped me get through.
After updating the driver... at first it felt like I was going backward a bit... I got an expired trial period error again on opening Photoshop the first time, but then I tried again logging out and logging back in to CC as noted previously ( http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/cc-applications-crash-immediately- launch.html ) ... and this time that helped fix the trial error and this time that was not followed by crashing (thanks to the graphics driver update).
I have an ATI Radeon HD 5670 graphics card. The previous version of the driver I was running did not work with Photoshop CC. I have now updated the driver to version 12.104.0.0 and everything is working now.

I bought some itunes music on my ipad. I then went to download the songs previously bought onto my PC, from the itunes store. They all downloaded, BUT each song only plays 1 1/2 minutes in length. What happened. Any help wouldbe appreciated. THANKS
90 seconds is the preview time when you want to sample a song in I tunes. I have no idea why or how it would have downloaded the preview, as opposed to the whole song.
I suggest you delete the songs, then go back to the iTunes store and redownload your music. See what happens then. I am assuming that these songs were bought with the same apple Id. -
I made a project with multiple tracks and had it all panned and mixed. Now it's only playing in the right speaker. Not even regestering a left side in the master volume? What happened, how can I get both sides back?

For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.

I have a macbook pro and a ipod and yesterday while I was on my laptop on Facebook playing words with friends with my daughter who was on the iPod playing under her user name it seems that they combined into one profile. what happened? they used to be separate and we could play against each other but now it says its the same user for both even though I signed in on facebook with my log on and she was on her ipod with her profile. can I fix this?
