  • What happened to App Category list?

    Hello!
The very useful sorting of App Store apps into a Category list has been replaced with an "App Store Quick Links" list. Useful if I'm looking for 'Apps for Foodies' and just a few other categories with cutesy names, but useless if I want to browse Travel or Productivity or Reference or other apps. What happened to the comprehensive category list?
    Thanks.

Hover your mouse over "App Store" in the iTunes store top toolbar and use the white arrow to display the categories list and make your choice.
Or use the "Power Search" link on the iTunes Store home page, select Apps and choose the categories and devices you wish.

  • What happens to old Reading List items?

In Safari 7 what happens to items in the Reading List after they are read? Are they deleted automatically? If so, when? (I know it is not right away.)
In previous versions the items flagged as "Read"  would be grayed out, and I could clear them one by one to keep them from cluttering things up. In the newest version, however it seems to be impossible to tell which ones are "Read" without right-clicking and examining the context menu.
Even better, of course, would be a button or menu option to clear the "Read" items en masse.

I am probably telling you something you already know, but if you pull down on the Bookmarks - Reading List - Shared Links pane while viewing your Reading List, you can choose between "All" and "Unread." The options are hidden just above the search bar in Reading List.
Also, you can right-click (control click) on the list to mark an item as read/undread, remove an item, or clear all items.
But you're right, there's no easy way to separate the "read" from the "unread."

  • What happens if i purchase apps when home page limit is exceeded already

New to iPhone. I know iPhone 5 has the limit of 11 pages of home screen, and I wonder what happens if I accidentally continue to buy apps when it's already over the limit. Will it warn me or it will start removing apps to make room for new ones?

The apps will still download to your phone, they just won't be on your home screen. You can still access the apps by searching for their names. To do a search, from your home screen, swipe from left to right until you see the search screen.
Why don't you group apps into folders to make room for more?

  • What happened to my contacts list in Yosemite mail

I use to have a pull down list of contacts that I could pick and choose (holding down the Command Key) several addressees.  I can't find that pull down list.  Selecting the + only allows one selection at a time, not several.

    Dick2111,
I appreciate your response, but I would hardly call it an acceptable work around.  Your work around only applies if you "pidgeon hole" folks into distinct groupings or contact lists.  I enjoyed and fully utilized the pull down menu in Mountain Lion.  I would enter the BCC field, access the pull down menu of addressees, and double click on each one that I wanted to copy into the BCC field.  Then, with Maverick's, they diminished the ability to double click and finally came up with a "work around" my having to hold down the Command key as I selected individual contacts to move to the BCC field.  That was totally acceptable and I appreciated the escalation and work on the Engineers part.   This work around was only produced after my trouble call was elevated to Senior Engineers.  Now even the Command key option is gone with Yosemite, and the only response I got from Apple Customer Support was to report it via the "feedback" page.  That to me is not unresponsive, but pretty close to it.
It might be an "oversight" but to me is either sloppy programming or perhaps deleting what is thought as infrequently used features to incorporate new features without "growing" the size of the Operating System.
I know i am wrong, but right now I feel it is part of the overall migration plan to an eventually have just one operating system for all Apple platforms, which (tongue in cheek) means if ya can't do it with your thumbs, it can't be important.  I am not sure if there are any third party programs out that address this issue, but I'm not a real fan of replacing Apple core programs with 3rd party stuff, but I may have no choice.  Bummer!

  • What happened to Finder's List View?

Back in Leopard, I used to be able to click on Name to get a folder sorted by Name (acsending) click on it again for descending order. Same with other columns showing. I used to be able to drag out the column width of names to actually read long filenames (IIRC) wow- how useful that is.
Can't do any of this in (bug mecca) Lion... and suggesetions?

So to return a list view to old state where above is possible I need to goto the "Change the item arrangement" Drop down and set it to none.

  • What happened to my wish list since the last update?

I'm only seeing a handful of albums in my wish list after installing the latest update.

I have the same problem and I am very disappointed. I had like 200+ songs in my wishlist...now it´s only 32. I hope Apple would fix it soon.

  • WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HUGE LIST OF NEW ALBUM RELEASES?

on the last itunes version you could view long lists of recent new alum releases in itunes. Usually over 50 per week. It seems this has been reduced to 1 or 2 pages of pictures. I used to love those long lists to discover new music...can I still view those lists?? I hope so. Someone help.

Click on the music store link, then click on "new releases" at the top of the page.

  • What happened to the tabs list?

Seems to be just ... gone! Same mistake as Safari (ouch!) - please restore this !!!

There used to be a button at the right end of the Tabs bar, somewhere around the "+" button that opens a new tab. Clicking on it would drop down a list of all open tabs - very helpful when the number of tabs got large and the Tabs bar could not display all of them.
Unfortunately no screen shot is possible, because this button has disappeared. Was this a deliberate modification (if so: very ill-advised!), or is there something wrong with my install?
BTW: Internet Explorer still has an equivalent button, which appears near the left end of the Tabs bar when more than one tab is open.

  • What happened to my favorites list?

I have re downloaded Mozilla Firefox.. and set it as my default browser but i lost my favorites list why

    Firefox doesn't use the IE favorites.<br />
Firefox has its own bookmarks.<br />
You can import the IE favorites directly via "File > Import" or export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

  • WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD LIST OF BOOKMARKS?

BEFORE I TRASH FOXFIRE AND GO TO GOOGLE CHROME...LET ME ASK THIS DUMB QUESTION:
Where are the saved bookmarks on the bookmark bar....?
It used to be able to click on it and I saw ALL bookmarks then picked which one I want to go to...???
NOT NOT MOST VISITED SITES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!who cares?
JUST A PLAIN OLD LIST OF MY BOOKMARK FOLDER...?????????????????
then I choose which one I go to???????????????
does that still exist or NOT?
Why is it so hard to find a list of MY bookmarks right on the page?

It is still there, either right-click on the back/forward buttons, or hold down the left mouse button until the list appears.

  • What happened to all the Android update doc pages?

Toshiba had some great pages with software update histories for all the important tablet devices, such as the Thrives and Excites. As of today they're all gone.
Will there be replacements for them, or perhaps a forum post we could subscribe to with per-device updates?
    Here are some examples:
    Thrive 7: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletinDetail.jsp?pf=true&soid=3312005
    Thrive: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletinDetail.jsp?pf=true&soid=3217256
    Excite 10: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletinDetail.jsp?pf=true&soid=3420308
    and others.

I'll bookmark this to come back and put them in this thread later. However, I'll explain how to get to them as well.
From the support site, you now type a model name in the box, select it from the list (or continue typing the whole number and click GO).
For example, type "Thrive AT1S5-T16" in the box and click GO to see the Thrive 7". On that page, click "Knowledge Base" to view what used to be called "support bulletins." You can filter using the terms on the left and see results on the right. In fact, I see the system updates article there now. "Thrive 7 Tablet System Image Updates" is listed on the right. Click it to view the article.
Now, what's a little trickier. If you copy the URL from the address bar and then use it later, it'll just take you to the landing page for that Thrive, not the particular article.
Here's one direct link to an article:
Thrive™ 7” Tablet System Image Updates
I'll return with the others when I have the links. They all seem to be up on the site right now, but I'm waiting to find the direct links.
