What happened to Delete?

Hey Mac folks:
What's up with the removal of the Delete function in iTunes' latest update? It's not even grayed out. The Command-D thing isn't even there. Cut IS there, but most of the time it's also grayed out.
This is extremely frustrating to me (obviously, here I am writing a letter about it) because I'm a podcaster. I listen to a LOT of podcasts. Like hundreds.
And the way that I (previously) kept them organized was that when I listened to one episode, I'd delete it from the list. It kept it relatively easy to see which ones I still had to listen to. And now, that option is GONE. Gone, not there, unusable. WHAT THE ****, Apple?
Seriously, do you know how daunting it is to have, for example Keith & the Girl which currently has 1400+ episodes, staring at you? And if I'm able to crank through 700 of them, that's 700 less items sitting there, staring at me, waiting to be listened to. Easy to see which are the new ones, etc.
Who the heck removes the delete function? And why? I don't understand.
I'm sure Apple would say, Oh well, if you listen to it, the little blue ball goes away. Bully for that. It's still sitting there. And, as more and more and more podcasts get added (I shudder to think of KATG's 2000th ep) it's going to be madness. It's not functional to me, people.
I won't even get into the annoying crap of "turning off" a podcast if you haven't listened to it for awhile (which should be an OPTION, not a feature). If I care enough to subscribe, I probably want all the episodes to be downloading, and not have to check every five minutes to see if iTunes turned it off for me. I can't tell you how many episodes of shows I missed because Apple did that.
But I digress.
DELETE is gone. Now thousands of podcasts are doomed to sit there in my iTunes, with no way to shuffle off the listened-to ones. I hate you for this, Apple.
--Miche

MicheBella,
This has been answered elsewhere in the forums. Yes the delete function being grayed out is disappointing, but you are not at a dead end. There are two solutions.
Either:
1. control click on the podcast episode you want to delete. This brings up a drop down menu. Delete is an option toward the bottom.
or
2. select the episode you want to delete, then hit the "delete" key on your keyboard.
both work fine.
Cheers.

  • Changeing Valuation class-what happens to deleted open docs.

    Hello,
we are planning to change the valuation class for material. In order to change the class we would have to delete all open items that trace back to the material (PO, GR, IR). I run me2m to identify the open documents for that material.
My issue is when I reverse or delete the IR, GR, and PO what happens to the those documents.? We have documents that go back to 2007.
Do we have to recreate the PO, GR, IR after we change the class.?What are the long term effects when doing this change (Audit)?
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

You don't need to worry about old documents as long as they are not open.
You just need to invoice out all the open GRs or cancel all those GRs. In case of POs, you have to ensure the GR qty is equal to IR qty for each PO line, then you can mark the line as deleted so that the system will allow you to change the val. class. You also need to make the stock to zero.
Once val. Class is changed, you can undo all the above.

  • What happens to deleted junk mail?

I've a few rules set up to delete junk mail - such as, "if body contains V1agra - delete message", and the junk mail filter is in training mode. Somehow at times I've found that it's deleted messages that it shouldn't have - especially if there's PDFs attached.
I only just now picked up my mail and saw an incoming message with a subject header that would NOT be junk mail, however the email didn't appear in my inbox, nor the junk folder - nor the trash but has been deleted. Oh yeah - my email is set to delete messages from the server…
So question is - what happens to these emails. Are they stored somewhere temporarily that they can be retrieved from? Or is this lost for good? (I've not and WILL not shut down mail yet!)
I know it's a hard task for any piece of software - but mails junk mail filtering is a pointless joke.

Rather than deleting it in rules, move the message to the trash, or, better, the junk mailbox. That way you still have whatever time lapse you have specified Mailbox Behaviours for the account to check on incorrect interpretation.
Why bother with your own rules? You will find it hard to do better than the automatic junk filtering.

  • What happens when deleting the ODI session which is active?

I have another question - If I happen to delete the session vs. stop the session, would deleting the session in ODI mean deleting the session in Oracle too from where it is extracting the query?
What if the interface has already been extracted from Oracle and loading data into essbase, and at that time we delete the session in ODI, what would happen?
    Thanks
    Kemp

    hi to All,
I have faced this issue, When i delete the session in the operator window?. It just delete the logs in ODI,But the session in ORACLE still in active condition.
If I stopped the session in operator window. Its ends the session in but ODI and ORACLE too.
Let me know. what is the different between the Delete and stop option in Operator window?. and Why the session is not ended in ORACLE while deleting the session in Operator window of ODI?
    Thanks

  • Camera profiles. /what happens when deleted

    Hello.
if you use the camera profiles (beta) that can be downloaded. What happens to photos that used such a profile in develop, if the profile where to be removed.
Like if you need to re-install LR, buy a new computer, an updated profile (non beta. etc etc.
i find the D2X mode3 (set down brightness a little and change green hue a bit) give good match to Capture NX style from my Nikon D50.
    /Walker

In the absence of your requested profile for an image, LR will use the first available profile. It's a current UI glitch that causes LR to show the blank Profile popup menu, but in fact it is using a profile specific to your camera (you'd know for sure if it wasn't: colors wouldn't be remotely close).
We plan to provide a smooth migration path for those who want to upgrade from beta profiles to final profiles once they're ready.

  • What happen with deletion flag indicator??

    Dear Experts,
In my organization my previous consultant created maintenance plan  for 3 years, in that some maintenance plans having deletion flag and already maintenance plans are scheduled for 3 years. May I know what will happen to this maintenance plan ??
will maintenance orders generated as per the schedule irrespective of deletion flag?? or orders can't generated because of deletion flag.
    Can anybody explain in detail.
    Regards,
    Sunil Boya

Deletion flag is pre-requisite for archiving the object. If deletion flag is set for maintenance plans, it will not further generate orders during scheduling.
Though, the orders created before deletion flag activation will be available for your execution.

  • Mail app - what happens to deleted messages?

Hi guys, so it's first thing in the morning, I'm checking my email, and I accidentally delete a message. After wishing, for the thousandth time, that Mail had an "undo" button, I look in the trash, but it's not there. I open Mac Mail, and look in its trash. Not there. (Isn't that what the trash is for?) It was kind of an important message, and I accidentally deleted it, with seemingly no way to recover. Where did that message go?
    Thanks!!
iPod Touch (presumably would also apply to iPhone)
    IOS 5.1.1
    IMAP
    Gmail

Look at the numbers to the right of a message: for example:
The 2▶ with the disclosure triangle  indicates, that there are two messages in this thread and pressing the space bar will advance to the  next message in this list of two messages - at least it does for me. To see all messages in this list, press the triangle behind the "2".

  • What happens to deleted text messages?

Can you retreive a deleted text message?

Well, I did a backup of my iPhone 4s the day before upgrading to a 5s.  Although all my other stuff ended up being moved to the 5s, it has no messages other than ones that have come in since the upgrade.  On the 4s, which has not been wiped yet, the messages still exist.  Any way to get them added to the 5s?

  • When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder, what happens if I delete the photo in Iphoto ? Will the original file in the folder be deleted too?

When using Iphoto to import photo from existing folder to iphoto, what happens if:
    1. I delete that photo in iphoto? will the original file in the folder be deleted too ?
    2.  when importing, does the hard disk store 2 versions of the photo, hence occupying additional space in the harddisk?

1 - no  --  iPhoto only manages fiel within the iPhoto library - it does not ever do anything with files outside the library
2 - No idea what you are asking - by default (and strongly recommended) iPhoto copies the original to the iPhoto library and you delete the source file outside the iPhoto library - iPhoto alwasy has at least two versions of every photo and some times three - it always have the original, a thumbnail and once a photo is modified a preview - this is not optional - if it is not what you want then iPhoto is not the correct progrtam to be using for phopto management

  • What happens to the mail in my iMac after I delete it from my iPhone? Will it be deleted from my computer as well?

What happens to the mail in my iMac after I delete it from my iPhone? Will it be deleted from my computer as well?

If they are both using the same iCloud ID (assuming you are running your mail from iCloud), then yes, the email will disappear from your Mac after you delete it from your phone and after your phone sycs with iCloud and your Mac syncs with iCloud.
I use a windows phone, but it works the same.

  • What happens to the conversation when you delete or move a message?

I've always been a bit unclear what happens to other message in a thread/conversation when you delete or move the current message you are reading.
Therre are 3 relevant view settings it seems:
    Organize by conversation (turned on).
Display selected message only (not selected - why would one want to select this if organizing by conversation? Is there a use for that?)
Show/Hide related messages (turned on so I can see replies I sent in the conversation).
If I want to move the current message I'm reading, it seems to move the entire conversation to the target folder. But that's not what I want to do.
Yet if I delete the current message I think it only deletes that one message.
I'm a bit confused about how to think of this. Sometimes I see messages show up under "related messages" that are a year old that I thought I long deleted.
Any easy way of thinking about how this is all working?
    Thanks,
    doug

  • What happens if i delete pictures on iCloud

    Hi There,
I used to have round about 400 pictures on my phone, long story with me restoring my MacBook Pro.
I ended up losing the pictures not overal fussed, i now have about 170 on all my devices, yet when i go on my iCloud settings it says 3.1GB is being stored within iCloud, what happens if i turn off / delete that setting from iCloud, will the 170 photo's i have get deleted from the iCloud, i can i backup again so my 170 odd photo's are just on the iCloud?

If you remove photos from the camera roll, they will be removed from your back up.
before removing photos from the camera roll you should copy them to a computer, an online storage service or put them into shared streams in iCloud.

  • What happened to the Lightroom 5 Beta forum? Deleted, not archived or merged?

What happened to the Lightroom 5 Beta forum? I understand that LR5.2 is now in full release, but it would be nice if the Beta forum was locked and archived for reference. It seems to have been completely deleted, along with some detailed feedback by myself and other Beta testers. (I can't find it if it is archived, anyway.) None of my many, many LR5Beta forum contributions are listed in my "Content" tab in my Adobe profile. All of the links to the LR5Beta discussion in which I contributed to (such as http://forums.adobe.com/message/5271729#5271729 ) lead me to this message:
    "Unauthorized
It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake."

Big thumbs up for Pete.Green and Daniel T! Thank you for this incredibly fast response! I worked very hard on explaining my "Advanced Adjustment Brush" proposal back in May 2013, and I am glad that it is again available for reference... in fact, even better, as it appears that the thread is now fully unlocked and availble to reply to. I still firmly believe this proposal is the way forward for Lightroom's local adjustment tools in the future.  I hope that the remainder of the LR5Beta forums will eventually be brought back for reference.

  • What happens to report data when data is deleted in cube

    Hi,
We are deleting Complete data in Cube daily and do a fresh data load via process chain. So, my question is what happens when run a report based on the cube during period of deletion of data from cube.
My question is does system will put old data some where untill new data comes in cube (or) complete deletion of data takes place and no data is displayed in report during that deletion period.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
As soon as data is deleted from the cube, Data will not be available for reporting. because for any reports data is fetched from Tables, for DSO they will fetch from Active table.
So you will receive a message Data not found, if the data is deleted from Cube's table.
Assign some points, if this is helpful.

  • What happens to versions data when files are deleted ?

When working on a document with an application using autosave, I understand modifications are regularly saved together with the actual state of the file. When such file is dulicated, history and the different versions are not duplicated.
My question is, what happens to the versions data if the original file is deleted and is the space used for all versions reclaimed ?
Working with big documents on SSD disk could be a problem seems to me.
    Thanks for your comments.
