What happened to drag and drop in Lion?

Before Lion I dragged photos and movies out of iPhoto onto my desktop, now when I do that they disappear. Do I have to use export now? That seems like a long work around. Anyone have any suggestions?

Interestingly, As I've been copy-pasting out of iPhoto, I've noticed that it has in some cases been pasting twice.
One shoot I did was close to 400 pics and when I copy-pasted into a folder, it has each picture in there twice. That just doubled my editing time.
Not super happy about this.
Any ideas why drag-and-drop wouldn't work?

There was a change in my desktop drag and drop post Lion update! Cannot drag or download to the desktop per se. It has to go into the desktop window in the finder now?

It is odd: pre update (the latest) I could download to my literal desktop, or drag and drop a photo from iPhoto, an mp3 to mail later from iTunes.....Now I can only do that from within the finder in the "desktop" window. In other words: If I download (I prefer to download onto my desktop rather than the download folder-window. I want to have control over ny desktop again (rather than the folder-window entitled "desktop"....Gratefully, Dennis

Rereading this question which I wrote after a long night makes me dizzy....But I don't know how to express it differently...I have lost my contol of the desktop you see on my iMac screen with all desktop responsibilities now only available via the finder window entitled "desktop".

i cant get this thing to synk what ever that is to my pc... i had this for over a year and thay chaing i tunes all the time now i cant get this to copy a movie to it...

If you have the new iTunes on your PC then you can re-enable the left-hand side via control-S - does that then allow you to do what you want ?

Sounds as if you didn't really try Randy's suggestion based upon your response. Try it, I think you'll like it, and as a matter of fact, once you figure out the best way to deal with the playlist, I suspect you'll like it just as much if not more than the old way. By the way, you ARE syncing when you drag and drop, it just gets initiated right when you drop the song and in the playlist case, you can wait to sync at the end so your itunes doesn't get sluggish.
As far as the password is concerned, you HAD to have set that up originally, otherwise you wouldn't get email. When you restore, they wipe out the passwords for security purposes. Just go back into the settings for mail and put your password back in there.

What's up when you drag and drop a table into a jsp page?

Hi All,
I was wondering what's happen in dragging and drop a table into a jsp page. This question because untill yesterday i had an application up and running, with a table displaying a number of rows of the database, and an action associated with an update into a database.
The action is managed trough JNDI, defined from Preference-Embedded.......
It was working.
Then the machine hosting the db changed IP addres. I went into Webcenter Administration console, I've changed the connection string into the jdbc parameters, by updating the new IP address... but it's not working anymore! The log comes out with a big error, but basically it can't connect at the db!
So, I think there is somewhere some reference to the old db.....where???

Thanks a lot..you were right.
I've located the ba4j on the webcenter server...and I've noticed that it was with the old address.
I think it's a bug, cause on the local machine (before to deploy) this file comes with the right address.
So next time, before to redeploy a new application, I think I'm going to fiscally delete the folder from j2ee folder.

Images resizing when using drag and drop

We just recently got PS Elements 7. I have a blank image that is sized at 600 x 1662 pixels. When I want to put a photo into that blank, I make sure that the photo is 600 pixels high. With 6, what I used drag and drop from the bin, the photo fit perfectly. With 7 it is apparently resizing the photo and I have to stretch it to fit. Is this something that I have set wrong? If I am making sure that both items should fit together based on number of pixels, why is one changing size? Something has to be changing size or the items would fit together. I am assuming that something is set wrong, because this just does not strike me a something that should happen, or the program is not a very efficient photo editor. If necessary I will go back to 5.0, although there are things that I like better in 7.

I'm frankly surprised you had success with this in PSE 6, since the past two versions create a special kind of smart object from images dragged up from the bin. You can use copy/paste to create a regular layer, or you can drag down to a thumbnail in the bin from an open image, but the project bin doesn't let you drag up anymore, by design.
Did you mean to say PSE 5 rather than 6? It worked normally there.

Prevent drag and drop for QT web movies

I've tried protecting QT movies on my web site using kioskmode, like this:

but despite what Apple says, drag and drop remains enabled. Anyone know how to fix that?

If your goal is to "protect" your videos the kioskmode="true" tag will be the weakest link.

You can open and save the file using the Safari (or any other browser) by using the Safari Activity window.
You can also download by dragging the link to the Download window.

When Force Quit window appears, select the Safari if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window. Wait.

If the file is a correctly formatted AAC file with the .m4r file extension and less than 40 seconds long, then iTunes should put it into the Tones section of the library and move it into the Tones folder inside your media folder.
I've just checked the current version of iTunes behaves as I've desribed, which it does for me at least.
You may need to have some tones in your library for the tones tab to display when the device is connected.

IMovie is not letting me drag and drop transitions, music, text boxes. Worked fine all along and now nothing. What happened?

iMovie has always let me "drag and drop" transitions, music, text boxes etc into my Project. This morning it is not allowing me to "drag and drop" anything. This is for a client and I am so frustrated. What happened to make it stop letting me "drag and drop"?

I have only dragged Titles to the project. When I did, it worked best not to drag and release onto the video strip (like with the old version) but just above the strip. When you drag and hover above the strip you get a little pointer to the starting point on the strip. Hope this helps.

I can no longer drag and drop things in Photoshop Elements 12. I can move things with my keyboard, but not my mouse. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

When I got Elements 12 (May 2014), I was able to drag and drop things such as cut/pasted items, watermarks, etc. As of 2 weeks ago, I can no longer use my mouse to drag and drop. 10.7 Lion Install - Drag and Drop no longer works

Just upgraded to Lion and my 'drag and drop' featuer works no where... No in finder (desktop to trash), Safari (customizing toolbar), or Dock (removing or rearranging icons). The rest of the track pad and all new gestures work flawlessly, but when I try to drag and drop an item it gets picked up and I can move it around, but it never 'drops'. The only way to get it off my cursor is to click the Apple logo in the top left corner.
I've done some digging but all the tips I find aren't pertinent to my situation, or reference files that I somehow can't find on my machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am having this issue too and bbiron is right, the only way to get the ghosted image of what you want to Drop detached from your cursor is to click the Apple menu.
In addition to all the intances bbiron mentioned, which are all replicable by me as well, it also happens when I'm trying to drag links or tabs in Safari/Chrome.
For the record, I did an upgrade from Snow Leopard and not a clean install of Lion. I'm using a MBP5,1 if that makes any difference as well.

Drag and drop problem on Lion... doesn't work

I have had a drag and drop problem since I installed Lion on my computer. I grab a file and by the time i try to drop it on a folder it is not released. This happens in all programs and it is really annoying, finder, iphoto, mail, you name it.
I've tried repairing disk permissions directly from lion and then from the repair disk partition and it has been no good.
Any ideas???
I have a MBP 15 in, 2.8 ghz intel core 2 duo. 4 gb ram.

drag and drop doesnt work at all, no matter what i try to do it doesnt work.
on desktop i grab a file and then try to drop it on a folder and doesnt drop.
on mail i grab an e-mail and try to place it on a folder and it doesnt drop.
i movie i select some photos, try to drag them to the project area and they dont drop i have to copy/paste in order to transfer them.
itunes i grab a file from my music library and try to drop it to a playlist and it doesnt drop
it is really really annoying.
any ideas????

Open dialogue box in Lion is not supporting drag and drop files (UPDATE)

This is freaking me out. Because now in Lion you can't drag and drop file from the desktop (and other folders!) to open dialogue box. It was most usefull function in Mac OS X. Why Apple kill usabillity?
Access to the desktop is not a problem (command + d), but if the current file is located deep in the hierarchy of folders, it becomes a big problem!!!
Dear Apple, please fix it as soon as you can.

Interesting, this is the second time today I've seen this one come up. It does work, drag and drop works like crazy everywhere here. What does console say when it happens (or not, in your case)?
