What happened to Enable Profile Corrections?

For some reason, Enable Profile Corrections is suddenly "unable to locate a matching profile automatically". Until now it has done this with no problem. What gives? It recognized the lens on my Canon G11 till now. Solutions anyone?

Have your profile files disappeared?  Someone else complained about this a couple days ago.
Here is one place they exist on my computer:

  • Lens Corrections: Enable Profile Corrections missing from tab

The "Enable Profile Corrections" check box is missing from the Lens Corrections tab in Camera Raw (CS5). How do I get it back? I'm comfortable hacking my registry or any settings files.
I'd like to report this and see if there's a better solution than Ctrl-Shift-Alt on startup.
    Things I've checked:
The EXIF data for the lens is present and can be read Lightroom 3.
The "Enable Profile Corrections" check box is present in LR3 and functions.
After exporting a copy of the same photo to a folder the EXIF data is still visible in Bridge.
After opening the photo in Camera Raw the "Enable Profile Corrections" check box is missing.
I've used the option in Camera Raw for months, and had it included in my default CR settings.
    Screen shots of
    EXIF data displayed in Bridge
The Lens Corrections tab in Camera Raw (CS5).
The EXIF data for the same photo displayed in Lightroom 3
The Lens Corrctions tab in LR3
    Thanks,
    Ed

After installing 6.2 the check box is back, but this doesn't explain why it went away.
If I had already installed 6.2 and was seeing this symptom what would you have recommended?

  • Checking "Enable profile corrections" box causes the photo to zoom in or out

When I check the "Enable profile corrections" box under "Lens Corrections" (Develop Module), I get either a very tight zoom-in or a dramatic zoom-out. I have not been able to find a setting that I may have inadvertently changed. Any suggestions why this might be happening? Thanks!

There is a lens profile downloader provided by Adobe that will allow you to search for lens profiles created by other users. You might find a profile for your lens.
    Adobe - Search: Lens%20profile%20downloader
I have not used this program for quite some time. I use older cameras and don't acquire new lenses normally. I believe the downloader is still unavailable and usable. But as I have indicated, it has been quite some time since I have used it.

  • What happened to my profiles?! (The folders are still there but they can't seem to be recovered)

After having not used my computer for about a month, I came back to find that FF had updated itself to version 5 (and then 6, after restarting several times trying to fix this issue), and all my old profiles were seemingly gone. Everything. Not just bookmarks; history, settings, and extensions too. After some searching, I found the files for them in my User/Appdata/Local/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles folder, but trying to restore them by creating a new profile with the manager and pointing it to the older folder turns up nothing. I'm currently using one of those profiles, and of course, all of my settings and whatnot are gone. What happened?

  • Lightroom 5.7.1 Lens Corrections chooses wrong lens info from EXIF when I 'Enable Profile Corrections'. Windows 7

When I enable lens corrections on a jpg image it brings up the wrong lens info. If I try to change it there are only 2 lenses listed—neither one is correct. It lists a 50mm lens even though in the Histogram just above it says 18mm. I then tried the original DNG image & it chooses the correct lens automatically. Both the jpg & DNG image EXIF info show an 18mm lens, which is correct, but Lr doesn't read the jpg info correctly. The problem is the same on all the images I've tried so far.

Most Adobe-supplied lens profiles are for raw files only.  Since there are very few JPG lens profiles LR is probably just choosing the closest one it has which isn’t anywhere close to the right lens.
The reason raw and jpgs have separate lens profiles is because cameras apply lens corrections when they produce JPGs and it would be inappropriate for LR to apply a lens profile when the camera already has, so LR refrains.  If you are sure that your camera has not applied any corrections then you can hack a raw lens profile into a jpg lens profile by text-editing a copy of the .lcp file that comes with LR, and changing the raw designation from true to false inside the file for each profile segment, then move this edited copy to the users profile area.  You might also find the JPG version of the profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader available via a search at adobe.com.

Hi, good to hear that your profile is now accessible again.

kuler-related comments. kuler is a color theme creation web

  • After upgrade to  lightroom 4.3, my canon 7D is not showing up in lens profile correction

I think this happened after upgrading to lightroom 4.2, but I am not sure as I haven't used Lens profile correction in some time.
When I enable the "Enable profile corrections" checkbox in "lens corrections" The Make and model of the lens is recognized, but the profile field has only 2 optoins, "canon EOS 1D MK III" and "Adobe". It does not have any other options including the EOS 7D that I use. Tried uninstalling and installing again, that didn't help.
I found in the forum that for Win 7, lens profile is supposed to be stored in "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0", in my case the LensProfiles directory does not exist. There is a CameraProfiles directory(C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles).
    How do I solve this?

There is nothing wrong with your lens profiles.
The issue is that you are adjusting a JPG not a raw file.  When adjusting raw files the camera model is not listed with the profile because it doesn’t matter and all of them say Adobe as their source for Canon cameras at least, but when adjusting JPGs the camera may have done certain adjustments internally so it does matter and is why you see the wrong lens-distortion occurring when choosing the 5D Mark III profile with your 7D JPGs.
For the record, I have profiles in both the locations mentioned: under Program Files\...\CameraRaw and under ProgramData\...\Lightroom 4.x.  This makes sense because I have both Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom installed.  The ones under Lightroom are all dated 12/2012 while the ones under Camera Raw are mostly dated 2/2012 with some from 11/2012 and other dates.  The profiles are probably the same, but the Camera Raw ones retain the date of the original profile creation whereas the Lightroom ones all get updated to the same date.  Lens profiles can also be installed with the DNG Converter, although I'm not sure which of the two locations those install to.

  • Enable Profile (ACR) and Filter Lens Corrections does not recognize Lens

I did several searches and couldn't find this so it may be a new question. I'm running into it in both CS5 (Camera Raw and Filter > Lens Corrections) and Lightroom 3.3 (Develop- Enable Profile). I'm asking here since I figure if I can fix CS5, I'll know what to do in Lightroom.
I have a Canon 1D MK IV. ACR recognizes the camera and processes the raw file. I check updates and everything is current. With Enable Profile checked, some lenses like my 24-105 L are recognized but my 17-35 L seems to be a complete mystery to it. I'm assuming that this is due to a missing profile.
Am I correct in thinking that the process is, download, install and run the Adobe Profile downloader. If I do not find any hits for my lens, I am then in the spot of having to use the profile creator to build one (or go without).?
Are there any other sources for camera / lens profiles that can be imported into the enable profile process?
Once you have a new profile where do you store it?   under Users> Owner > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Lens Correction ?
    Thanks
    Rick

Just to make sure:  Have specifically checked to ensure you have the latest Camera Raw update (6.3)?  I know you said you checked updates, but it never hurts to do a Help - About Plug-in... in Photoshop and double check.

  • How do you get custom Default Settings to enable lens profile corrections automatically on import?

I have created default settings by serial number for my Canon Mark III 1ds which include enabled lens profile corrections.  I then created a user preset with these default corrections.  Next I imported a folder of RAW images shot with this same Canon camera with the user profile checked as part of the import.  When I switch to the Develop module and check the Lens Corrections panel, I see that although it is checked for each file, the actual make, model and profile are not populated.
Is this a bug or am I overlooking something on import?  I understand that in LR 4, you can apply specific lens and camera calibration profiles to camera serial numbers (noise reduction etc too).
MacPro 2.8 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16 gigs of ram running OSX 10.7.2.

You can make your defaults specif to ISO and/or Camera Serial or not (see Preferences), but what you choose is valid for all default parameters. You cannot say "use my NR ISO-specific, but the rest of the parameters regardless of ISO".

  • I have a Mac OS 10.6.7 running Firefox 4.0.1. What happened to the enable cookies in Preference/Privacy. It's gone I need to enable. Thanks.

    Question
I have a Mac OS 10.6.7 running Firefox 4.0.1. What happened to the enable cookies in Preference/Privacy. It's gone and I think I need to enable. I can't log on to Citibank to pay my bills using Firefox or Safari for that matter. Citibank says cookies must be enabled to access their on-line bank. I wonder if this is the problem...cookies that is?

Yes, I found the cookies, and thanks for taking the time to help out. I called Citibank. They told me that they will not support Firefox or Safari for Mac because our user group is too small for them and the expense too high. The person that I spoke to said in the past, Firefox has worked with Citi, but that was just by accident. At the moment they have no plans to help Mac people using the latest OS log onto their website or enable programs like my Quicken or Mint.com to access. They don't work anymore either. I think all the problems happened after the last OS update.

What happens if you remove a profile from iPad? Can you get it back?

    Hi Gumby694,
You can only get the profile back if you plug into a computer that has the configuration profile in Apple Configurator or get the profile wirelessly from an MDM.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • What happens after numerous failed password attempts on a FileVault enabled system?

Just curious what happens when someone hits the limit of password entry attempts on a FileVault enabled system?  Does it wipe the disk?  Or is the encryption key broken rendering the disk unusable?

"If you forget your login password for a OS X Lion FileVault-encrypted drive, and you had chosen to store your recovery key with Apple, you may contact AppleCare and request retrieval of your recovery key. Typing in the wrong login password three times will produce a note under the password field which states, "If you forgot your password, you can… …reset it using your recovery key."
