What happened to free pilot episodes for TV Shows?

There are some TV shows that I've either never watched, or aren't available to me because they air on premium channels I don't have. I know for a time, a lot of shows had their pilot episode available for free. It was nice to be able to sample the show before spending any money on more episodes or full seasons. One episode of a show isn't that pricey, but when there are 5 or more shows I want to see for the first time, it can get expensive, especially when some premium channel shows episodes are $4. And why don't they rent TV episodes for like $0.99? Some shows I do want full seasons of to buy, but others I just want to catch up on and watch once. I don't see why offering free pilot episodes would hurt, is there a chance that will happen again?

The point of this forum is to help folks get extensions
working or perhaps to find an extension that does a specific
function, it was never to focus on free extensions. Not quite sure
where you've gotten that idea from, but I've been a frequent
visitor to this forum for at least 6 years and it's never been "the
whole point of this forum".
When it comes down to it, when you get beyond very basic
functionality, it takes a lot of effort and knowledge to create a
really useful extension, if you're willing to put that effort in,
then please by all means post what you've done so that others can
see what you've done. Others are already doing their share as there
are plenty of free extensions out there, the Adobe Exchange lists
865 free extensions when I searched and filtered on Freeware:

Apple's one year limited warranty covers hardware... not physical damage!

    Hello, Alayah14.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like VoiceOver has been enabled.  Here are the steps on how to disable this feature.

Try deleting the cache associated with the App Store..
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
    Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store. See if that made a difference.

  • Can't get the  Free pilot episode of Beyond The Break

I wanted to download the pilot episode of Beyond The Break because it said that it was free, but when I tried to do that, it said that it cost 1.99$ just like the other ones....so I tried to download the free preview of Superman and it worked perfectly...Is that normal?

Yeah, they offered it for free but then took it away.
Have you downloaded any other episodes? I've watched them all (not really something to brag about) but iTunes hasn't added new episodes in weeks.

  • HT202696 What happens if Apple Support expires for a product?  Does it mean there is no more help available and you are on your own just because you have an older Apple product?

We have a family of Apple products at home, and with every new one, we learn a new aspect of the Apple Life.  After switching to iPhone 5S and struggling between some applications, I've decided it is time to upgrade rest of my older devices requesting an IOS Upgrade to 8.1.2 for weeks.
My older iPhone 4 didn't have an upgrade, which was not advanced enough anymore to carry a new software, this I understand.  The upgraded iPod Touch and iPad Mini don't seem to have any problems with the recent changes so far.  However, the older iPad (2) we had is messed up, just like many other people's as mentioned on the pages of these discussion groups.  According to these user comments / complaints, it is obvious that upgrading to IOS 8.1.2 was not the right option to older version iPads just like it was not for iPhone 4; actually it shouldn't be an option in the first place.
On my previous problems with iPhone 5S, I've come to realise the practicality & functionality of the Apple Support system when contacted directly, instead of going through many discussion pages of people with same or similar problems where everybody is asking but just a few is replying.  So, I wanted to give it a try to find a solution to my recent problems with iPad, but this time Apple Support pages replied with "Technical Support & Service Coverage are both Expired" message.
First, I did not know that Apple supported its users personally, and I loved it.  Maybe this is because I didn't have previous problems with my old iPhone and iPad.  Especially the Apple Support - Chat option I preferred, where I got help step-by-step from Apple operators.  And then, I did not know that this service support was only for my devices until an expiration date, and this did not please me much.
Can anyone enlighten me on how to receive any response from Apple about what to do with problems of an old Apple device?

And as far as paying for phone support, here are a few tips:
If you call your carrier first and then they route you to Apple, you usually don't have to pay for phone support.
If you are talking to Apple and they ask you to pay a support fee, ask if you can get an exception this time.  That usually works once, but they keep track of the times you've been granted such an exception.
If you still end up paying the support fee, that fee only applies if it's not a hardware related issue.  In other words, if it can be fixed by just talking over the phone and following Apple's instructions, then the fee applies.  But if your device is deemed to have a hardware failure that caused the issue, then the fee should not apply, and you can ask for it to be waived after the fact.
This forum is free, and almost all of the technical support articles the Apple tech advisors use are available on this website.  Literally 99% of what they can do over the phone is just walking you through the publicly available support articles.  In other words, you're paying the fee to have them do your research for you.  It's like hiring a research consultant to go look stuff up in the public library so you don't have to.  You're capable of doing it; you'd just rather pay someone to do it for you.
It's like Starbucks.  You know how to make coffee.  Everyone knows how to make coffee.  And Starbucks coffee isn't any better than what you could make at home for far less.  But you want the convenience.  So you're really paying a convenience fee.  Milk is more expensive at 7-Eleven than it is at the grocery store... because it's a convenience store.

  • Episode 2 of "3 Moons Over Milford" is identical to (free) Pilot episode

I downloaded episode 2 of the series "Three Moons Over Milford", and paid my $2, only to discover that it is identical to the no-charge pilot episode.
This is, without doubt, an error. The THIRD episode includes a "previously on" segment that refers to events that did NOT occur in the pilot.
I tried the Purchase History / Report a problem feature -- but there appears no way to indicate the nature of your problem. Blast it, I want my episode or my $2 back!!

Since I'm on dialup, I made a trip to the library to grab these episodes. Just found out the same thing. I now have two copies of the pilot so I can't watch the rest unless I want to be completely lost about what was supposed to have happened

  • What happened to the "globe" icon for my server?

We have a network that we all are connected to. I have my computer connected all the time. All of a sudden, I noticed that the icon for my server looks like a console icon. What happened and how can I get the "globe" icon back? Does this mess things up for files on the network? I've tried rebuilding the desktop, trashing the desktop and finder .plists, restarting my computer, and trashing the DisplayServices .plist. Any other advice? I sure would appreciate it.

  • I want to know what happened to my ipod cause for exemple, when I turn on sometimes all the screen appears with lines and everything look like lines and I have to turn off again..

I want to know what happened to my ipod, cause after a while that it was off when I want to run in on it gets lines, like if that would be broken and I have to turn off again..

What generation is your iPod? My sister's 2g/3g(I'm not sure which) was doing something similar, but it would put a different graphic on the screen every time. We took it in to the apple store and they didn't determine what it was. One thing they said to try was to restore it and gradually add content on to see if it's an app or something loaded on it. If that doesn't work then they said it's probably something in the software or firmware. They gave her the option of getting one exactly like the one she had or getting the new one like I have. She ended up getting the new one on sale at target.
